  1. We are pleased to announce the first ever Good For Nothing Clubnight at the Tunnels on the 7th of May. The Clubnights will be on a Monday, once or twice a month, and will include live bands, DJs, a distro (including merchandise from local bands) and other delights. All fans of punk, ska, reggae and hardcore please come down and help us build up the scene in Aberdeen. More information here Cheers!
  2. Just downloaded Heart of the Country. not bad, although for some reason i can't get the image of you riding a melancholy donkey through a large field of hay out my head. you might be wearing your planeteers costume... any costumes for e2v by the way?
  3. Ye, well you know what they say, 'ugly people make great musicians', so they should be pretty damn good. in fact i heard they're so good that one of them has already decided to go to america to pursue a solo career. i think my compilation theme will be 'songs that get me out of bed in the morning'
  4. should the swap box have a theme or just any compilation of music? does it have to be punk/ska/reggae/hardcore genre? i don't really wanna get kirk's mix of paul mccartney b-sides
  5. dammit, there are 3 things i really want to/have to do that day: go to this, put on/play at a gig at durmmonds, and go watch the lord of the rings trilogy at the belmont. why so many good things at the same time, not fair
  6. this is my sister's ex-boyfriends band, so that's pretty amazing huh. also i will see them for the first time on thursday in glasgow, so i will report back
  7. issue 2 of good for nothing? zine should be available, just getting it finished now. It will be at the very cheap price of 50p - reserve your copy today to avoid slight dissapointment
  8. The Short Notice song sounds good, haven't seen them yet, are they good?
  9. that's a new side-project thing, first gig tomorrow at the east neuk with oi polloi if anyone's interested. ye, i thought project van hell would win best band but maybe it helps doing a fudge gig not long before the awards
  10. Get down there early to catch the very first appearance of....well i'm not sure if we've 100% decided on our name...but nevermind. Featuring members of the upstarts, contra and ex-civil might, and introducing amy thain on saxophone, come and see what none of the fuss is about. My first time seeing oi polloi, i'm excited
  11. i'm actually slightly dissapointed now that i know we lost by one vote, i'm gonna be a really bad loser and say i think panda eyes were a bit dull, haha. it was their first gig tho. oh well, we'll have to try harder at being a kiddies band this year, were radio lucifer 2 votes behind? also, its weird strong like ox only just bet fickle public by one vote, elgin/moray is so international these days
  12. nope, no contra, but other punk bands are available. my own religion and mutley are probably my favourite scottish bands(after the proclaimers obviously), and also great music to make sweet pyramids to.
  13. that's a coincidence because apparently johnny skyscraper also see themseves as a path to self-knowledge and liberalisation. first band should be on at about half 8. nail that swan and run.
  14. 3 for 4 great punk bands and 1 very large owl, what more could you want! this friday people. If you're a Mutley fan you'll be able to buy the gfn? split with a song from them, as well as Eastfield, The Upstarts, The Try Hards and, um, The Planeteers GFN? zine no.1 will also be available. If anyone fancies giving us a hand taking equipment round from Malty's be at the East Neuk for half 5, would be much appreciated, cheers!
  15. ye, the next issue should be online in early April with possibly a limited number of hard copies available at the Dangerfields gig at the tunnels on the 11th. will hopehully be an improvement on the first one, any suggestions are very welcome though
  16. im trying to think of some comic strip ideas for the next issue - maybe someone could do something bad and then camie could come and kick some ass like the bad mofo he is. he could be wearing his planeteer outfit? +he could take his glasses off + all the women will go shakey at the knees
  17. hey, good for nothing? zine (issue 1) is now online, just click here to read interviews with adequate 7, jughead from even in blackouts, and strike anywhere; a feature on critical mass; and such potential regulars as 'have i got muse for you' and kirk's wrestling page. let us know what you think, cheers.
  18. there'll also be a chance to buy a limited edition good for nothing? zine, with interviews with the likes of Adequate 7, Strike Anywhere and Jughead from Even in Blackouts, and also such fantastic regular features as 'Have I got Muse for you'. Also the opportunity to get your hands on the last few GFN? split records featuring Eastfield, The Try Hards, The Upstarts, Mutley and The Planeteers!
  19. so are billy liar confirmed for opening up then greg? also, this is possibly our last gig ever, probably last of the year, so if you've never seen us why not come along? well, maybe someone told u we were shite, maybe u hate punk or ska, maybe you're washing your hair. but you know, generally, why not? you might never get a chance again and you might end up on your death bed thinking 'why oh why didn't i go and see the upstarts when i had the chance?'
  20. this'll be one of our (The Upstarts) last gigs before Dan becomes a dad, an exciting/scary thought indeed, and it also means it'll be one of our last gigs of the year. Maybe we'll sell our merch for even cheaper. Upstarts nappies and bibs coming soon...
  21. yep, we're gonna go on when the gig next door finishes. then numskull and stuntface will be on who are both awesome live, everyone should come along after the gig at kef. should be an amazing night!
  22. is it true that The Lobsters are making a special appearance tonight or have people been lying to me?
