  1. yeah i put on De Rosa in drakes a while back - i love love love them!! their first demo is still on my player a lot (and on repeat when it is!) the song CAMERA is still one of the best songs ive heard by an unsigned band in a long long time!!! i knew they were wanting to come back and wanted to help out...but greig, you've saved me a job!! i can just come to the gig now as a punter!! so glad someone else has liked them enough to put them on..... will be good to hear T13 again, with new songs? geez!!
  2. really really looking forward to seeing Bikini Atoll again...and Picastro sound lovely from their demo...
  3. utter rubbish! thank god not everyone in aberdeen thinks like you....what a tragedy that would be! it takes time to build audiences, and to encourage people to come and see something a little different....it is working slowly but surely in aberdeen i can assure you - and plenty of touring acts are now favouring, and enjoying, aberdeen over glasgow/edinburgh believe it or not.... im interested as to what's 'underground' to you.... i agree with this though!
  4. and yeah, id like to know how to get the masses out to more underground gigs too...! what is the magic formula?!
  5. the first, and probably only time, you'll see VIOLENT MINDS & RESTLESS YOUTH in aberdeen.... doors 8pm first band on 9ish
  6. there's bound to be another travelling aussie out there who'll just happen to turn up in aberdeen and want to be in a punk/crust/ band...! cause thats been 2 so far...remember Pete Fastard...?? pete had actually told ben to get in touch with jeeves if he came to aberdeen....so now ben has to pass it on....! anyway...GIG'S TONIGHT!!! its ben's last day at work today...and the last filthpact gig for a while (2nd last ever in aberdeen) and the first and probably only time you'll see VIOLENT MINDS & RESTLESS YOUTH....!!
  7. that would be My Sharona maxi! yeah the mighty mighty Cosmica did play the BYOB/Narcosis/last ever drakes gig (how come you all cant remember?!)....and i have the photos to prove it - was great!!! you must remember how nuts the place went to War Pigs?!!
  8. hey rob, sharon here...spoke to you before re gig! i'll email ya!
  9. it actually can hold a few hundred!! but its split into 2 rooms with the bar and seating area in one and archways through to the stage area..... its kinda dark and dingy, been owned and used by many folk over the years, hosting all different genres of music...a classy venue just perfect for a punk gig!! hehe!
  10. experimental hardcore trio akin to OXES/DESALVO/THE FUCKING CHAMPS....brilliant vocal melody with hc screaming...razor sharp wit with the best riffage you've heard in ages...!! HELL BENT ON DESTROYING EVERYTHING IN THEIR PATH!! appearing at SNAFU, 12TH MAY with the brilliant MERCURY TILT SWITCH (somewhere in between anthemic pop/art rock and emo-punk, think a combination of Jimmy Eat World/Trail of Dead) & PROJECT VEN HELL (local noise-mongers) check www.petpiranha.com DOORS 8PM 4
  11. these bands are on a european tour, in the UK for the first time, and only doin 2 scottish dates...the other being in dundee on the 8th hopefully aberdeen will be a great show for them
  12. THE PELICAN CLUB (basement of Hotel Metro, Market Street) DOORS 8PM 4 VIOLENT MINDS (US) fast and raw thrash influenced HC from Philadelphia. Violent Minds successfully borrow the sound of early 80's NYC hardcore and use it to mould raw, thick sounding, fast-paced songs of their own. with gruff and hostile vocals courtesy of Zach of ex Shark Attack RESTLESS YOUTH (nl) Instead of taking the late 80's for inspiration - RY have looked further back and blended a love of the Bad Brains, Dead Kennedys and Goverment Issue. This is complete hardcore worship born out of Friday night hang-outs and jamming Bad Brains covers www.mywarrecords.com www.wolfbloodrecords.com www.completecontrolrecords.com
  13. yeah imagine if he actually turned up at the gig!! ive not seen him in a few years either - but someone told me that he had a job in some oil company and that he'd had a hair transplant and a nose job!!! hehe!
  14. just a note for y'all then...expect a Macrocosmica album launch in Aberdeen around 9th july....
  15. apparantly the font used for FILTHPACT on the poster is supposed to be shit with bits of corn in it!!! (not my idea/doing!!)
  16. i really love it tom - my kinda stuff! so its just you on your own, in your bedroom?! shame...we need more live bands like this in aberdeen...especially for all the stuff i like to put on! hey maybe i could play in the band!! if only i could actually play any instruments....! keep up the good work though...! sharon
  17. yip t'was great! but drakes actually had nothing to do with this one, apart from help out with a few things on the night! was all down to those brilliant IMP people!!!
  18. i think Ant and Adam want to do it - have a night off dave!!
  19. i think you may get the pleasure of James Orr in glasgow too maxi... here's a quick rundown for those who dont know of Chris Brokaw.... Former drummer/guitarist with the New York-based trio Codeine and coleader of Boston band Come, Chris Brokaw is one of the hardest working men in anti-showbusiness. In 1997 he formed Pullman, recording 2 LPs for Thrill Jockey and in 1998 he formed The NewYear, recording an LP for Touch and Go. He finally released a full-length solo LP Red Cities in 2002 and has since toured heavily with the likes of Mogwai, J Mascis, Low, Bob Mould and Evan Dando .His solo acoustic LP Wandering as Water was followed in 2004 by My Confidante + 3. Other 2004 releases included his score to Roddy Bogawas film I was born, but..., which is currently making the film festival rounds. Chris Brokaw has quietly taken his place as one of the best performers in the country... with a satchel of songs that range from white-knuckle intensity to coy humour. TIME OUT (NY) His own songs are haunted and blasted, sustained by the precise violence of his guitar playing. VILLAGE VOICE (NY)
