Exactly, we're spending a large amount on our new 4 track cd, we're a DIY band, we arent looking to get signed...hell, the artowrk is a huge fuck u to barcodes as we dont ever want it to be in megastores but we still wanted a cd of really high quality sound for ppl to appreciate.. 700 isnt a huge amount if u save up all the money ure band makes thru gigs etc...instead of spending it on the bar that night! (Not that that's what Quik does, or maybe u do, but I know a lot of bands do do that) But, u guys are obviously looking for label support and so I would also recommend 3/4 tracks of high quality, Ive often heard that a record company will only listen to the first couple of tracks and if they are impressed, then they will sign u up to do the 12 tracks.. Good luck with it tho (get Ian to do the artwork for free aswell, he got a 5 today in his presentation!) Steve

Yeah, spoke to Kirk and all the bands should be fine, think SB6 are just at the Tunnels now, Thinkpol and them were playin Abroath last night so theyd have no bother.. So anyway, the snows not even lyin in town centre at all so if ure not snowed in there are NO EXCUSES! Arrrrghhh! I just spent a couple of hrs making this cool ass comp, choosing the tracks, positioning them all precisely, cross fading sum that were in the same key and stuff......and Nero crashed!!!!! Goddaaaam! Im too pist off to do another one now... Oh, By the way did any1 come into my flat last night, eat dans pizza and fill his pockets with rocks? It wasnt me, i just poured water all over myself then passed out.. Now I dried out I better go back to bed and get sum sleep so I can stay awake for the gig!!! Ol, ..and sober up perhaps, KIrk, we finished recording last night so u want us down earlier 2day? Steve

Yeah, its round the corner from exile, across from the cyrenian homeless charity who have put in the complaints.. which is quite ironic after we've done a charity gig for them, and one last week to "stop climate chaos"! We've got a meeting with the head of EH next tue to discuss our views but Me and dave went to citizens advice today and found that due to section 80(1) of the 1990 Environmental Health Protection Act and with this Noise Abatement Order they can shut us down without having to take decibel/sound readings. It says within the officers own professional opinion, couldnt beleive it. Anyway, we're writing letters tonight and trying to come up with a decent defense case before they give us the Order as acording to the Act we are meant to be given a preliminary stage in which to meet with officers and complaining parties to come up with solutions to work through the "nuisance".. although when we spoke to EH they said that theyve been having complaints for 3 years and so presuming they think we have ignored them since then, although the first news we heard was when SOM were chucked out a few days ago. Its just really depressing when we've put so much time/money/effot into trying to provide a cheap place for bands to practise. We were planning on puting on free showcase gigs for bands who are just starting up instead of them having to go around selling tickets to all their friends.. We wanted to keep money out of it and make it fully about the music. We had one of these scheduled for sat night but had to cancel. The first and maybe only gig we'l do went really well aswell but we'l just need to see how this meeting goes. We'l do our best, but if we dont get it back, as we said we're gonna look for sumwhere else, any1 know how much drakes lease is? Steve

They havent recorded a sound level but say theyve been in the residents homes that are complaining an beleive it to be over the level of acceptance.. they said they dont deal with readings either, its upto their proffesional opinion.

Just back from cleaning up ure mess, cheers guys.. and as it stands we're fucked, they've issued a Noise Abatement Order which means the next time there is a complaint we lose our lease, so we've had to end it, last band practise 2nite and Im afraid thats it, we cant even contest it in anyway..I stayed off uni to do as much phone calling as I could but EH have the power to do all this through their own legislation. Im meeting the head of EH next week but thats just so I can speak to them face to face.. We're now on the look for empty lockups etc. as we have got everything we need (equip wise) to start another one..
