  1. Aberdeen have got Richard Langley on trial. Spent most of his career in the Championship. Anyone know much about him?
  2. Standard recorded obv. Mainly though, Fender Squire Tele. Still have it, modified it last year actually to bring it back to life and play it as much as my others guitar now.
  3. I've got a small set of Samson 4i's for general listening and sometimes for use with my TV. They have phono inputs on the back, USB for hooking up to your laptop and a 3.5mm aux input on the front. Just over 100 quid i think, pretty good for the money.
  4. Bands would then want paid, as people were paying to come and see them. Also what happens when Joe Bloggs pops in to buy the new Cheryl Cole album and is told he has to pay to get into the shop... Tis a sad time indeed, hopefully they'll ride it out. Did my 4th year (high school) work experience at One Up and met people like Dave Officer, Steven Rainy, Ruaraidh Sanachan and Tich for the first time. Most of whom i still keep in touch with from time to time.
  5. When i was first getting into local music in Aberdeen, The Little Kicks seemed to be a fair tip. They had quite a catchy poppy sound that reminded me of The Thrills, a band and a sound that were pretty popular at the time. A couple of sold out Lemon Tree shows also showed that people around here were fairly into them as well. Financially, without record label support touring can be really hard. There are a few things that if bands are on the ball with what they are doing can save themselves some money. For instance, putting on your own shows in your home-town can be a great way put some money away for the tour. Im pretty sure i remember the xcerts and copy haho doing this on a tour last year at Drummonds, managing to pay themselves and good amount and cover the likes of van hire for the tour ect. Merchandise is an absolute must as you'd be surprised that there are still people out there who enjoying leaving a show with some new records ect. I saw at a Meursault show in Edinburgh that Phil was selling some Debutant demos that probably didn't cost much money to put together. Whilst i'm sure sales weren't soaring a little bit from each show can go a long way, even if its just paying for essentials like food ect. Also if taking crew on tour, look for people who can consolidate jobs (ie) a sound engineer who can also drive and TM (THIS WAS NOT A HINT, ACTUALLY IT DEFINITELY WAS).
  6. Milne i just spoke to Jamie, they are driving back to Glasgow after the show. I will be attending this show!
  7. New Jeniferever track here: Jeniferever 'Waifs & Strays' by Monotreme Records on SoundCloud - Create, record and share your sounds for free
  8. Kammerspiel by Conquering Animal Sound is out now and they are playing DHC tomorrow!
  9. Saw em three times. Jack is probably one of best guitar players around, some unreal sounds.
  10. Oops, forgot the link to the album: 'The Glad Cafe Fundraiser' | 45 A-Side Records
  11. Got a video here of a whole bunch of footage from the Glad Cafe album launch i put on last year. If anyone doesn't know its a project i ran to help raise some funds and awareness for a new venue in Glasgow aiming to open this year. The gig had performances from Conquering Animal Sound, Barn Owl, Willy Mason, Dam Mantle and Song of Return. Can be seen here: YouTube - Glad Cafe Album Launch
  12. The best maker of a White Russian in Aberdeen be AJ McMenemy.
  13. I did an HND one at James Watt, wouldn't recommend it to anyone and i've heard most of the other colleges are pretty similar. Poorly run, terrible organisation and a pretty non-existant workload, wasn't challenging in the slightest. For anyone interested in studying music seriously i'd recommend trying to get into RSAMD. Even if you arn't interested in learning classical music or whatever it will give you a really good education of music as a whole and its great for meeting like-minded people. I know quite a lot of people who have gone through that course and are now doing fairly well musically and are all trained up to a really high level.
  14. Yeah they played 4 or 5 shows last year, never set up a page online though.
  15. Podcart are good people. They run a weekly podcast in amongst organising loads of other events. I imagine it is quite normal for a few e-mails to get lost in the inbox from time to time.

    Darts

In a bout of post-World Championships motivation/unemployment i have started practicing big time again. Just hit back to back 180's for the first ever time in a 16 dart leg.
  17. Impressed with Brown in the transfer window, he has definitely filled the problems out in defence and Blackman is an excellent addition. Feels like start of the season "we're going to win the league" optimism again.
  18. All going well at Pittodrie so far.
  19. 18 teams would mean only playing every team twice and therefore losing out on the money generated by playing the old firm three or four times a season.
