  1. Brazil will win the world cup for these simple reasons' date=' Emerson (best defensive midfielder in the world along with Viera), Kaka (one of the greatest play makers and goal scoring midfielders in the world), Robinho (potentially one of the greatest second strikers in the world), Ronaldinho (without a doubt the greatest player in the world), Adriano (the biggest most powerful and one of the greatest strikers in the world) and of course Ronaldo who even now , despite being a fat bastard, will no doubt score at least 5 goals in the tournament and is still one of the greatest strikers in the world. No other country has a midfield and attack like that and yes their defence is not as bad as made out. Cafu (i think hes injured for the world cup? but if so Cicinho is not half bad!), Lucio is immense, Roberto Carlos can do a job and Luisao isnt bad either! if Brazil need a goal to win a game one of their attacking players can create one out of nothing. Remember Ronaldinho's free kick against England? i forgot Juninho from Lyon he is also superb! Brazil are naturally confident and know what it takes to win.[/quote']

Robinho is vasty overrated, is a permanent fixture on the bench now in a rotten Real Madrid team. Roberto Carlos can't defend, nor direct the ball on target, and is a fucking little moaner who I'd quite happily garrotte. Ronaldo is just absolute rubbish!

I'm sick of Brazil this, Brazil that. They can go to hell, and they're not winning.

PS Juninho Pernambucano, Adriano and Lucio are indeed quality, but that's it.

  2. Hahahaha' date=' thats possibly the funniest thing I have ever read!!!!

    "Attacking flair"........sure.

By Mr Two-footed-studs-up-then-strut-away-thinking-he-is-hard and Mr Shoot-on-site-at-every-opportuinity.

Of course they will score goals If Lampard shoots as much as he does and they both take lots of penalties.

Now players with Flair = Riqueleme, D'allessandro, [b']Denilson, Joe Cole (pre-Jose Mourinho), Ronaldinho, Aimar, Deco, Rui Costa, Zidane, Ortega... etc etc.

Not Steven Gerrard and Frank Lampard.

You're stuck in a footballing time-warp. These two are way past their best. Actually, Denilson never even HAD a best

  3. In protest? Because it was absolutely dire! There was nobody else worth watching at the same time though, I think.

I don't think even Mani wants to be Mani, or at least he shouldn't. Not after being confronted by that face every morning in the bathroom mirror

  4. Speaking from personal experience here, and Sevilla is chock-a-block with Americans, be it students or tourists, I have no desire to speak to any after hearing one pathetic conversation after another in Internet cafes, the street, in class, etcetera between groups of annoyingly loud stupid valley girls.

Having said that, there were a couple of thoroughly decent chaps in one of my history classes, I do recall

  5. La Tasca is balls. Seriously. And I KNOW, because I'm currently living in the world capital of tapas. Here, you can get such things as a sirloin of pork in a port sauce with accompanying delectable fried potatoes for roughly 1.40 a throw. I had chicken breast in an amazing almond sauce a few days ago from some bar, it was shit hot

  6. Hahahaha! Hey there! My mama is pretty cool!! But no' date=' it was her first festival, and she's all upset because Im going to Australia instead of TITP again this year.... a shame....

We are going to Glastonbury together again next year though! Yay!

Emm, well, he had blondie-ish hair and had shades on. You saw him and his chums 'larking about' on the highlights of Maximo Park on TV. If it was you, did you only REALLY 'go for it' when it looked like the camera was on you and the left-hand side of hte stage? If so, it may have been!

And also if so - you made me and my mams day!!

I know I was beside Aberdonians during Futureheads because Iv seen them on campus I think....[/quote']

I initially said it in jest, but it may have been us after all. We were at Futureheads though. It was rather good, wasn't it? I didn't see us on TV though during the 'Park, only me, Laxton's Superb and Steve Temple sitting on the ground during Eagles of Death Metal (in protest...)

As for the "going for it", we were going for it full tilt during the whole of Maximo thank you very much...

And the Lizard King is small and blonde and was probably wearing shades. But he's not actually a Mani lookalike, he's a Mani wannabee.

As for your mother, well...I only hope she's of a young enough age to make such an experience worthwhile...o_O

  7. The Best....

TITP (2005) when it was lovely weather....

Arriving when DFA1979 were on - alriight...

The cool-guys-infront-of-me-during-Maximo-Park's cool dancing and the fact one of them looked like Mani from Stone Roses with a straw hat

Prancing around the NME signing tent with my Mam during Athlete (we WERE taking the piss' date=' dont turn away in disgust) only to realise Simon from Biffy Clyro sitting behind the fence laughing at us

When Futureheads played Stupid and Shallow and the whole crowd participation thing with Hounds of Love - great stuff

When someone hot danced with me during Interpol then proceeded to try and ask me back to his tent while [b']I told him I had to meet my mam hahahaha yass!! (I didnt go)

The Shaun Ryder look-alike massaging my Mams shoulders until I told him I was her daughter - hahahaha

Seeing Johnny Borrell, following him to Ian Brown and forgetting who I was stalking because I was so happy Stone Roses were playing

Sons and Daughters, Bloc Party etc, etc....

The hatted man was probably the Lizard King. Fits the description anyway, because we are cool guys who were at Maximo Park with a Mani-lookalike

You go to festivals with your MOTHER?!?!?!?!

  8.

Firstly I'm a lover' date=' not a fighter, and secondly he is technically a professional athelete *cough* whereas I was totally hung over from the night before.

Didn't two guys from Aberdeen get charged for hassling him before? I think they got kicked out of Uni or something.[/quote']

I think they were two med students who studied (and fought), in Glasgow

  9. I've only been to T in the Park 2005, but there's enough material for a best/worst post:

    Best?

-Being right at the front for Interpol and Editors and being left feeling, I quote, "warm and fuzzy inside"

-Sons & Daughters and ensuant burst eardrums

    -Futureheads-based fun

-A superb effort from Echo & the Bunnymen

-Laxton's Superb and I punching, kicking and assailing Zippy with beer cans, with no affect to his state of happiness

-Allowing my fascist side to show itself to Steve Temple throughout the construction of our tent

-Seeing drunken neds/bams divebomb into innocent tents

    -The beautiful weather

    -Aviator-based nonsense

    Worst?

-Having a stetson thrown in my eye during QOTSA

    -Audioslave

-Seeing my foot on the TV coverage of an Eagles of Death Metal tune. The shame!

-Having a half-eaten steak & kidney pie reside on our tent for the duration of the festival, outwith our knowledge

-Having to hear the effects of the domestic violence dished out by the "Begbie" in the tent nearby

-Having the same fat girl appearing in the background of all my photos

-Missing the Faint (although the Departure were good)

    -Lack of do-able girls

We'll all be there this year...

  10. I was on hols in Torremelinos (wrong spelling? probably) many moons ago and while supping a Guinness in an Irish pub a strange version of 'Tomorrow' came on' date=' on quizzing the barman it turned out to ce a re-recording by Adam Clayton and Bono on a compilation of Irish music called 'Common Ground'. I bought it when I got home, the rest of the album is unremarkable but that song is still much niceness..

That Teenage Fanclub tune is one of my favourite ever, nice call, was just listening to that the other week along with A Catholic Education.[/quote']

Torremolinos is the festering scab of the world. Full of crusty old British fucks

"Under a Blood Red Sky" is a worthy disc too. Have you heard a studio version of "11 o'clock Tick Tock"? I think it was an early early single, but I would like to hear it.

I don't really like "Is This Music?" actually, I just get patriotic....

  11. Nice one' date=' my favourite U2 album with October a close second [/quote']

It's a great album. There's so much post-punk brilliance on it, but it's criminally overlooked. I prefer "War" though, from this particular phase in their career....

As a side note (and this may sound silly), but do you not think "October" sounds so very Irish? Whenever I listen to it, I just think of bleak Dublin terracing. I don't know why really, maybe because of the "Gloria" video when they're on that barge in a really shitty urban setting. I guess that doesn't mean it's specifically Irish, but when "Tomorrow" comes on, I can't avoid thinking it. Just like when "Is This Music?" by Teenage Fanclub plays, at the end of "Bandwagonesque", I feel all proud and Scottish with blue and white blood coursing through my veins

  12. I'm with you Bluesxman, all of the Bunnymen albums you have listed are fantastic purchases at such a price, or at any price for that matter.

Otherwise, PiL's "The Greatest Hits So Far" for 3.99 of your English pounds, every Smiths album for a fiver each, and I secured Mellon Collie for 6.99 in British tender, which is decent when you consider it's a double album.

I also spent 2 libras on "Cerebral Caustic" by the Fall. I'd rather be shot in the face than do that again

  13. As Ikaruga pointed out, the concept of Joy Division is more suited to live performance, and practically all their live albums are far superior. "Wilderness" live in Preston is just SO much better than on Unknown Pleasures, which incidentally I don't really like, and don't own. You have to overlook the occasional musical error, which in the case of Joy Division's concerts is usually a result of a high-intensity, human performance. Though I also know the majority of people on this website only care about "production", "musicianship", and "technical ability"

  14. I've heard it once on his Myspace page. It's classic Mozza, following the more rock pattern of Your Arsenal, and it's likeable. It's exciting for me when I hear he's releasing new stuff and doing huge tours, because I missed out on his glory days. However, he's hit a rich vein of form and re-captured press attention, so the new album is whetting my appetite

  15. Most recently' date=' Rubin has provided the service for Neil Diamond. The result of nearly 10 years' pursuit of the artist by the producer, Diamond's new album 12 Songs takes this renowned showman back to an era before he wore glittering jumpsuits, and back to his roots as a singer-songwriter. In places, it's a pretty good record. But whatever its successes, its chief function is as a jumping-off point for speculation. Now he's done Neil Diamond, which other gilded lilies would most benefit from the "Rubin treatment"?

    [/quote']

And this man is garnering a bit of a respect from some of the people on this thread? Incredible!

  16. I must admit I do like "With Teeth" - but I've never heard "The Downward Spiral". As in "Achtung Baby" by U2, I like the general air of emotional heaviness, because it shows that music can display such without having to resort to muted powerchords

"The Hand That Feeds" is a belter of a single, too.
