The couple of songs I've heard from "Media" are ace - "Some Incriminating Photographs" for example. They would fit in better in today's musical landscape I reckon and be more successful with that album today, not withstanding their success with Radio 4 and other contemporaries.
"Glass Danse" does pwn, though.

What books are you needing laddie? Viking related ones?
-
Have to admit' date=' that is pretty cool [/color']
Not as cool as Applied Mathematics at Aberdeen Uni I'll bet
-
I pwn all of your asses because I'm going to study whatever the hell I want at the Universidad de Sevilla for a year. So kiss it

PM also sent about various merchandise....You must be in dire straits!
*Cue mediocre 70s rock joke*
-
My fears have been allayed also.

Toronado' date=' isn't that some kinda of bum mustang/jaguar combo?[/quote']
Not really, but it does look like an abortion of guitar.
-
its splestled toronado' date='. thats might help[/quote']
Hang on, that's amazing!
You couldn't be any less helpful if you tried, with splestling like that!
-
The RRP on a Toronado Deluxe is 599, there is also one called the "Big Block" Toronado, which has a weird competition stripe (but a pair of Seymour Duncans, no less) for 499, although this lacks the padded gig bag of the more expensive one.

Bah! I'm on call this weekend
And the week after that I'll be in Greece. But when I get back..
So you won't make my leaving do at 8?
*Strikes name off list*

Bye Malc! S'laters!
Fuck's sake
*Fuming*
-
No, you would be correct.

It was around 1-1.30ish' date=' if memory serves. Damaged Goods, it was.
The bar-take on Saturday was an all-time record. Cheers for playing your part, Dave. [/quote']
I actually handled two crisp British fivers from the Milne wallet. A privilege so it was, although the rank full-sugar coke that was the reward reaped from this, was not

Did you get round to confessing your sins, Larsen?

I think one of the issues that the MMP suffers with is it's eclectic nature - to nominate disparate musical artists of very different genres actually creates a very difficult task in the judging.
How do you measure the winner in a group that could' date=' potentially, include Metal, Jazz, Pop, indie, etc, etc in it's midst?
They've almost created a rod for their own back in trying to be so all encompassing in their shortlist.[/quote']
You give it to Dizee Rascal one year, and Franz the next

I sure don't fancy Genevieve's chances against a computerised frog...

I think it's definitely a consideration for the judging panel' date=' although, you're right, it's not the main criterion. To maintain the credibility of the prize, however, they must ensure that the records they choose as winners stand the test of time.[/quote']
You're right about the credibility, but after reading the list posted by French Disko, most of those winners have not stood the test of time. M People anyone? To me, I certainly wouldn't cry myself to sleep if I lost the Mercury Music Prize, I personally don't think it's very illustrious.
-
To be fair, it's an award for one year's (or one album's) work, so the fact that Maximo Park etc may not stand the test of time has no relevance methinks.
-
You love it really Neil
Also' date=' for the record i dislike Kaiser Chiefs with a passion. They grip my poop shoot. I hate their lyrics, though they do right catchy choruses and uptempo songs which explains why a lot of people with musically short attention spans would love 'em.
[/quote']
Musical attention spans - interesting point there. The Kaiser Chiefs are so popular because blockheads are too thick to remember that every song has the same chorus/buildup as the previous one. The man on the street is too busy scratching his arse and eating pork scratchings to notice
-
He won because he's not popular and it was a popular who one last year and they can't do that every year. And he's brilliant. I'd have been equally happy had Bloc Party or Maximo Park won.
Spot on.

So' date=' after listening to the build-up on Radio 1 - with Hard-Fi and The Go! Team having me bouncing off the walls of my bedroom - that fucking big queer Antony steals it after an "intense" performance in which he warbled childish poetry in a barely coherent fashion. His album will be flying off the shelves at Tesco tomorrow. He's hardly British either. When he spoke on stage, he had about as little charisma as a member of Sigur Ros, which is apt considering he is a fellow beauty merchant[/quote']
Granted, from the couple of tracks I have heard I absolutely despise his voice.

*Waits for Larsen B reply*

How about:
"The Dictionary Song" by Statue of Misery

Any chance of a setlist from last Saturday, Dave? I had the best night in a wee while, musically anyway.
Tape/CD swap club.

Can I apologise for losing Holly's cd in Exodus last night and for screwing this up? Thanks.
