  2. this is tomorrow night! anyone catch him at the blue lamp? you can get double woomble action by coming out to banchory
  3. ah! should've spotted that!
  4. eh? that's what i said. that's what you quoted. i'm confused.
  5. meh, they've always said they want their style of beer to become the mainstream, it'd be silly not to sell it to supermarkets. but yea, tesco, boo. (still shop there though).
  6. it was just Hardcore IPA rebranded. love that stuff.
  7. aye that's a winner, fuck grating though. just chuck the lumps in and melt it down. i didn't have any chocolate last night so just put a tablespoon of cocoa powder in, worked a treat.
  8. nothing fancy. slow cooking (as you should for chilli anyway) should soften it nicely so you can use a cheaper cut no problem. I added parma ham last night but it was a bit lost. might try some chorizo next time. I've also been experimenting with adding beer which is going well. 5am saint worked nicely last night. I add it just after browning the beef and let it reduce a bit before adding onions and chopped tomatoes.
  9. try using diced beef for your chilli instead of mince. way better.
  10. Chilli is ace-ic. particularly the day after you make it and you get to have it for lunch. i love a good chilli.
  11. Hello, we've been busy putting on ace bands out here in Banchory and thought that it would be nice to get them to do something special for us each time. The first couple of gigs we just recorded a live track as they played it but recently we've asked bands to do acoustic or different versions of their songs in a space away from the stage. I thought I'd share them here and let you all see what we've been upto. Next up we've got Sparrow and the Workshop on June 23rd then Three Blind Wolves on August 25th. Stay tuned to see what they record! You can also keep upto date with the deliverance stuff on our page here: http://www.woodendbarn.co.uk/page/deliverance our facebook page here: https://www.facebook.com/deliverancegigs of follow @DeliveranceGigs on twitter. word.
  12. This Friday! there are regular buses from Aberdeen - Banchory and back again. lots of pluses to coming out here, you don't have to walk through hundreds of office works drunk on pay weekend, no fights, lovely hills and countryside around the barn and we've got a great restaurant next door if you want to come out early and grab some food. The main plus though is that we've got 3 amazing bands who are going to blow the roof off banchory.
  13. ta. it says not to put the venue in the title as you're putting in the event as it will show up afterwards. pfft.
  14. hehe, come to the gig and you might get to meet her why doesn't it say Woodend Barn in the title? is that just cause it's waiting for approval? hmm.
  15. We're delighted to finally persuade Rachel Sermanni to come to Woodend Barn. Carrbridge native Rachel has been on our radar for a wee while now, after wowing audiences at Celtic Connections and then earning plaudits supporting Mumford and Sons on their Highland Tour. Rachel has a busy year ahead of her, with the Black Currents EP released in January and her new single Eggshells due out in May, not to mention a load of touring and festival appearances. Book early for what promises to be a very special show indeed. 16. Idlewild frontman Roddy returns to the barn with a new band and showcasing material from 2011's "The Impossible Song and Other Songs". Idlewild are a firm favourite in Scotland and Roddy's solo work has found him developing his lyrical palette to encompass more of the landscape and Scotlands folk heritage. Set apart from Idlewilds frenetic yet melodic rock sound, Roddy released his first solo album, My Secret is My Silence in 2006, earning rave reviews from both the folk and rock press. This was followed up with Before the Ruin, recorded with John McCusker and Kris Drever in 2008, which was toured extensively and earned yet more positive press. Roddy was also the main instigator behind the successful Ballads of the Book album, bringing together leading Scottish poets and musicians to collaborate on new songs. This tour will see Roddy play songs from all 3 solo albums and he's promised to sneak in a few Idlewild numbers too! Support comes from Andrew Mitchell from The Hazey Janes. Who are ace. So that makes this gig even better! Praise for "The Impossible Song and Other Songs": "This is a distinctrly lovely affair" NME "A Moving and quietly joyous collection of pieces weaving together strands of folk, jazz and country" Guardian "The imagery is striking...like island life itself, it won't be rushed" Mojo "One of Britain's most distinct and talented voices" Kerrang Tickets: £15, 13 or 5 in advance +bf £16, 14 or 5 on the door + bf Tickets available from the Woodend Barn website: http://www.woodendbarn.co.uk/event/woodend-barn/roddy-woomble
