  1. absolutely not. he records anybody and everybody these days and it works for some, and most definetly doesnt for others. I also hate the "recorded by steve albini" tagline

as for moob, me and shazza were supposed to be putting them on in Aberdeen about 3 years ago but they pulled out

i agree, many a band use it as some kind of passport to hipness and they don't deserve it. i think he's always said he'll record anyone but he'll charge varying amounts depending on the band. hence he recorded senator and mclusky on the cheap as they were good and skint but charges much more for major label artists.

    whatever happened to senator?

  2. Watched a film called 'The Firm' last night . Not the Tom Cruise one.. this was 70s / 80s football hooliganism. Pretty good, also featued a youthful Phil Mitchell at the end explaining why he batters people at football matches.

    'Becksy!!'

i watched a bit of that as well. fucking great film with many a future soap star in the cast. used to have it on video back in the day.

gary oldman at his mental best.

  3. That raises a good point...

It's not in chez Phil, Rob, and Jim. I know that much. Unless he's up in the loft. I hope someone doesn't bump into him in the dark. They'll get a fucking fright!

did it not get left in mount street? i seem to remember that happening but i could be wrong. perhaps he's doomed to forever walk the land alone. someone should write a prog epic based on the further adventures of barnold.

  4. i'm not going to get involved in slagging off a bunch of kids.

however, i just looked at the 100 professional publicity photos. why were they taken in london? how much did that cost? while they're technically ok i don't see anything there that says anything about the band. they look pretty generic which is a shame as they obviously have a distinct visual style(see, i'm being nice) and it would've been better to try and put that across with the photo's rather than enter a sterile studio with a photographer who's going through the motions. something to bear in mind perhaps for your next photoshoot. try and build a relationship with the photographer and share ideas before you go into the studio so both band and photographer know what they're trying to acheive. gather some photo's of other bands which say something about that band and are of a similar style that you want and go over them with the photographer.

  5. I suggest that you come to the Tunnels to see Kashmir Red and be blown away by some awesome Rock n'Roll!! Go On!

You'll see what everyone is talking about and why this band have acheived so much that you guys just cannot compete with!

i've not only seen em, i've played with them. nice guys. music was alright, certainly not shit but not quite awesome rock n roll. it was quite a while ago though.

  6. too many good gigs to mention and some amazing nights.

starting going to kef when it was the works and i was 17. not been for a while as i don't really go to clubnights anymore and they didn't put on as much gigs that interested me.

    highlights:

dawn of the replicants and their foam rocket launcher

dundee scamps kingsize getting up and playing ultrasounds instruments before being thrown out

the short lived but really rather good funk night on thursday nights

    capdown's two night stand

    halloween, twice.

    jungle nation.

    various hip hop dj's

the few times i djed there for various gigs. the biffy blyro one sticks in my mind.

    bouncy floor.

    it's a shame it's closing. :(

  7. Yesssss

I think I'm addicted to this thread. It's so moreish.

it's like some kind of medieval torture. it just keeps going on and on sapping my will to live. just when you think it's safe to go back to this thread another member of kashmir red's entourage jumps in and over eggs the pudding.

they need to learn that less is more when it comes to defensive posts. let the hataz look petty and silly then just prove them wrong by being a better band than everyone else.

  8. The snow is becoming quite a blizzard.

    WTF is going on?!

well, "Snow forms when water vapor condenses directly into ice crystals, usually in a cloud. Floating cloud particles (ice nucleators) are needed in order for snowflakes to form at temperatures above -40C. 85% of these nuclei are airborne bacteria, with dust particles making up the rest.[1] The ice crystals which form around the ice nucleators typically have a diameter of several milimetres and usually have six lines of symmetry. A snowflake is an aggregate of such ice crystals and may be several centimeters large.[2]. The term "snowflake" is also used below for the symmetrical ice crystals themselves. The individual ice crystals are clear but because of the amount of light the individual crystals reflect snowflakes appear white in color unless contaminated by impurities."

or the sky is falling in.

  9. Instead of saying Kashmir Red are shit/gash or whatever they were called....maybe the people who have said it could go into a bit more detail so they can take some good out of what you say...

Kashmir Red are shit aint very good constructive criticism...its just being rude...

I agree with the playin '5 nights a week' (slight exaggeration)...but if they enjoy it an they continue to pull a crowd then whats the problem? Why get bent out of shape about it?

I mean look last week...14 pages because a band with a 15 year old drummer got some coverage in the paper...OMG!?!?WTF!?!?!...

Then we have people cancellin gigs because they are on the same bill as another band...fuckin get over yourselfs...

Everyone knows the music industry is full of egotistical twats an of course not everyone is going to like your music but to be getting slated an not constructively criticised on a local music site is a really poor show...

    8-)

the 14 page thread wasn't really about the band with the 15 year old drummer though, more about aberdeen journals themselves.
