So many good gigs in Aberdeen so honourable shouts for The Almighty, The Wildhearts, Backyard Babies, Wil Haven, Napalm Death, Korpse, Inextremis, The Levelers, Suede, Sunna, Miocene, Charger and sikTh.

  2. and in my experience every1 ive met who appreciates and understands music(especially death/extreme metal) to a high degree is a musician of some variety.no offense intended' date=' purely my opinion[/quote']

Christ 18 years of my life down the pan in one comment, if only i'd learned an instrument i could understand Death Metal ;(

Anyway my review of Cranial comeing from someone who doesn't play an instrument is.......

    "CHRIST" o_O

Nah i really enjoyed your set and the getting a bass player is a good idea, i did hope last night when i saw you that it wasn't meant to be bass player less band as thats becomeing abit fashionable right now.

Musically i thought it was really different to most death bands on the go and thus intresting especially the melodic sections they reminded me of bands like Pestilence, Athiest, Cynic which is no bad thing.

Hopefully catch you guys again soon as we need more death metal bands in Aberdeen

  3. Calum im ashamed at your response, 8 for 6 bands is pretty cheap i would have thought especially since 1 was from israel, 2 from Germany, 1 from Leeds, 1 from Edinburgh and the local Aberdeen band.

If me and my mate Niall heard about it in Elgin there is no excuse for anybody in Aberdeen not knowing about it.

I know the gig wasn't your thing Calum but to tell Kirkt to stick to punk gigs is abit harsh.

Anyway i thought the gig was great Kirkt, was a real shame about the poor attendance and it was alittle embarressing during Weeping Jesus when you realised that the majority of people there were the bands.

  5. Got the news from a close friend of adam (ex labrat)' date=' oh and apart from the fact that the webiste has been down for a while now[/quote']

Your sources aren't very good then.

Murder One are currently playing on the Pitchshifter tour calling at the QMU i think next week.

There is indeed an album but wether it sees the light of day soon is debateable as its been in the can since at least August last year.

So good news all round Rune

  6. If the bills good the bills good, doesn't bother me if a fair percentage of the bill have played the festival before.

The old Monsters of Rock had only 7 bands maximum playing, twice that when it went to 2 stages but that was over one day.

We have up to a 100 bands playing over 3 days so thats alot of choice and more chance you'll like some of it and find something new too.

Like someone said earlier there aren't that many Metal bands on the go that you had completely different bands each year.

Think of it this way could you name 400 bands of a decent size to play, if you can tell Download that way they'll have 4 years of bills and no complaints.

I personally dont think it can be done without straying far into Reading/Leeds Indie territory.

This is its fourth year of DOWNLOAD and long may it continue

Oh should add COME ON DOWNLOAD lets have SLAYER three years in a row

  7. Why don't they just announce Slayer and Slipknot and get it over and done with.

I think its more likely Slayer and Stone Sour.

It would be ace if Cannibal Corpse did do the Download, at least they can play tracks from there first three albums in the UK unlike Germany!!!!!!!!

  8. I am a huge Tool fan but i can see the non-Tool fans point of view.

I used to absolutely detest Tool and found them boring then something clicked and i've worshipped at the alter ever since.

I have seen them live three times and they are one of the best live bands i've seen but i can see why people dont like them live, the girlfriend for example loves the albums but hated them when she saw them live, they pretty much stand on the same spot the whole gig and she didn't get the whole vibe.

If you dont get TOOL fair enough in time it might click, if not im sure it wont ruin your life, their only a band there to entertain at the end of the day nothing more, nothing less

  9. I hate you.

No didn't see that tour (although had the Kerrang tour poster special plastered on my wall)' date=' but did see the Almighty at La Belle Angele in Edinburgh with Kerbdog as supprt, and the Almighty in the fucking USHER HALL (my first stage dive too...).[/quote']

My first stage dive was to Carcass ;-))

Naa never saw much Almighty gigs although i do love them.

Donington'92 w/ Iron Maiden, Milton Keynes w/Metallica, The Abdn Music Hall and The Barra's w/Warrior Soul.

Great band just wish i'd went to see them at The Garage two weeks ago :-(

  10. Download probably have a clause saying no other festivals at Donnington this year, saying that Download is the week after so a festival a week before would destroy the grass surely.

I would imagine it'll be one stage and as for Deep Purple headlineing you'll be suprised how little big Metal bands there are that could Headline a major festival.

Download haven't announced who's headlineing this year and that could be Iron Maiden or ACDC and Reading/Leeds usually have a big Metal band headline too so its gonna be really intresting to see how this pans out.

  11. Alice Cooper?? Deep Purple????

Holy shit' date=' what year is this? If there's a worse set of headliners for any festival in the UK this year I'd been be stunned.

It's like a 70s timewarp of bad hair, bad metal and just general all round bad-ness.

    [url']http://www.nme.com/news/alice-cooper/21993

    Headliners for rock festival revealed

    And it's a "monster"

The line-up for the Monsters of Rock festival has been announced.

The one-day rock festival at Milton Keynes Bowl on June 3 will be joint headlined by Alice Cooper and Deep Purple.

The hard rock festival began in 1980. Acts who have played there in the past have included Ozzy Osbourne and Guns 'N' Roses.

Tickets are due to go on sale on January 20. For ticket availability after then, go to NME Tickets or call them on 0870 1 663 663.

Weren't you the one argueing in another posting about tollerance at Festivals and the Reading Festival staying the way it is varied music styles.

    Your not preaching tollerance now!!!!!

There has been a huge gap in the market for many years for a festival that older rock fans can attend and not stand out like a sore thumb.

The Monsters of Rock has been resurected to fill this gap, you wont be attending so why worry about it.

Im not a huge fan of Deep Purple but some of your mates from Buckie still go and see Alice Cooper on every tour and i can see why he is still an excellant showman and thats what its all about entertainment.

With the Rolling Stones and The Eagles doing stadium shows this year Deep Purple and Alice aren't the only 60's, 70's bands doing the rounds.
