  1. I can say that however good the Aberdeen gig was the Glasgow one was about 20x better. Fish really didnt enjoy the Aberdeen one' date=' a lot because of the stress of losing Tonksy until 15 minutes before he was due on (he told this story and it certainly wasnt an exageration as I went to the airport to pick him up and we got there about 15 mins before they came onstage) and also because of the heckles by those guys to start with. usually it doesnt bother me but easily the most ambient noise I've ever heard in a gig, which was really off putting.

Glasgow was amazing, it was great seeing Emma playing to an appreciative audience and a sold out Glasgow Garage, couldnt believe he sold that one out too, and they reckoned they had had enough enquiries that they could have sold another 200 tickets minimum. Fish also played Market Square Heores in Glasgow which was incredible. An amazing 2 gigs but Glasgow better by a country mile.

    Cheers

I dont suppose you meant to do it but you've just tarnished the Aberdeen gig for me Stuart.

The last time i saw Fish in Dingwall, i thanked him for playing Elgin again the night before and he told me straight out he needn't have bothered.

I was a bit miffed at him to say the least but whatever but hearing you mention Fish opinions about Aberdeen has brought it all back X(

  2. Most of Modest Mouse's albums have been perfect' date=' the Arcade Fire's Funeral is perfect, The Concretes self titled is perfect, The Libertines' two releases were perfect, OK Computer was perfect... for myself and maybe just myself. A lot of things were perfect for a lot of different people and I hate those bastards who always cling on to to those precious years circa Pink Floyd and all and won't relent that maybe some new bands are worth a damn. I never enjoyed Pink Floyd. Go figure. I liked the Velvet Underground and the Beatles but I never liked Pink Floyd. You think maybe it's time to admit that maybe some people just have different music tastes and stop being such an unrelenting fascist?[/quote']

I feel that albums today are not as classic (perfect) as albums from 10 years ago but thats maybe because they are the albums you grew up with and have special memories associated with them.

Or maybe its because 10 years ago you didn't have the collection you have now so you had a limited choice therfore you played the same album more often. If you didn't rate it first listen you were more likely to give it another try and probably appreciating it alot more.

I think time is the problem with so many albums you just dont make as much effort to get into them, if your not enjoying it you just change it to something you will enjoy which 9 times out of 10 is an older favourite.

  3. For the first time in a long time Max has actually released a good album, i've kept buying Soulfly albums and have always been disappointed except for Primative so this is a big suprise.

Its not as good as Beneath the Remains, Arise or the Nailbomb album but its a step in the right direction

Was never a fan of Roots, the odd good song but in genral it didn't do anything for me, Chaos AD was good thou

  4. Didnt you watch and viote for Aberdeen music on the people's court ;) I will probably be wearing the Raingods with Zippo's football shirt and a Welcome to the Garden Party Tour Jacket' date=' as theres not a lot of them abiut it should be obvious ;)

    Cheers

If the gigs not starting till late on i'll probably leave Elgin at 6 so be in Aberdeen 7.30 ish.

Yeah i did watch the Tv show so i do know what you look like so i'll see you there

Did you see the amount of early Marillion stuff on ebay by the way - some great stuff on there especially the early Marquee T-shirts.

Oh and Frosty i know thats not Stuart in the pic - i actually own the single!!!!! ( it came free with the xmas dvd )

  5. i'm sorry but D.R.I? fuck off. they sucked. i was well into my thrash back in the day but even they were pushing it. same goes for Nuclear Assault... never quite got it.

Heard good things about Municipal Waste though. shall give it a blast at some point.

You what DRI sucked' date=' Bazz what are you saying!!!!!

DRI are gods, Dealing With It is just fantastic as for Nuclear Assault whats not to get!!!!

At least your honest thou there alot of people on this messageboard you feel just say things to look cool or follow some trend.

...Yes [b']medichi i am rubbing my hands with glee its about time Thrash made a comeback and Municipal Waste is on the purchase list

  6. Well firstly i think its hilarious  and secondly i'd by chuffed to have a flag with all those autographs it may slag off some of the bands but its a bit more personal than just an autograph and nothing else.

Some people are never happy, spends ages complaining about how unpowermetal aberdeen is, then when he's proved wrong by a sell out crowd he complains about a flippin' flag - GET A GRIP :nono:

  7. is anyone going? and do you need a lift/have spaces in your car?!

anyone know exactly where the Barfly is?

The Barfly is right opposite the river clyde behind the St Enoch Centre.

If you take the turn off for Cathedral on the M8 and follow the road as if your going to the Barra's, instead of turning left at the Clock tower in the centre of the road keep going till you come to Glasgow green.

Turn right and follow the Clyde, its on your left just before the Youth Hostel and the Central Station bridge.

Alternatively you could come off the M8 at the Secc and turn left following the Clyde that way. The Barfly is on your left just after the Youth Hostel and before the signs for parking at the St Enoch Centre.

This way is easier but can be busier with slow moving traffic on the M8.

    Enjoy the Gig :D
