any The Planeteers?!
similarly, and THE NO PINTS?! would kill to hear "TARRANT TARRANT TARRANT TARRANT TARRANT TARRANT TARRANT TARRANT TARRANT OFF TV"
for some reason The No Pints never recorded anything sadly. Got a few Planeteers recordings that were never released I think though.

I've just seen this thread, could someone give me an invite to this: joetown_punk@hotmail.com

Where have you seen the other gig announcements? Anytime I do a search on the Garage Aberdeen the only thing that seems to come up is the solitary Lanegan gig...seems a bit odd that there is not even a half-arsed venue website, even if it was 'under construction' it would be something...I'm preparing for disappointment and trying to get ticket refunds...
sorry I didn't make that very clear...I mean I am seeing lots of tours announced for Autumn kind of time, the type of places you'd think that maybe Moshulu/Garage would be the ideal venue but have heard of no other bookings for the venue except for Mark Lanegan.
-
I was wondering too, walked past last weekend and everything is still the old Bassment/Warehouse signs...only 2 months to go until Lanegan...this will be disappointing if it's a cock-up...
I wondered this too, lots of tours and gigs are being announced for Autumn so I was expecting more news, but there has been no updates on this since the initial anouncement and it doesn't look like any work has taken place - a little worrying with only two months to go (presumably it needs a lot of refurbishment to soundproof the place better?)
-
I bought a couple of extra tickets by accident so if anyone wants to buy any for a fiver, giz a message
-
How was Simon? I enjoyed Kitchen Cynics Orchestra and Gareth Dickson but was too tired to stay any longer...poor effort on my behalf I know

Nah you won't, you're playing a gig that night

The new Muppets movie is absolutely amazing and the Toy Story short that was on before it was worth the admission alone.
I loved last year's Source Code, a really clever sci-fi/time-travel film in a similar vein to Inception, Lost etc and a good performance from Jake Gyllenhall (or however you spell his name).
I also finally got round to watching Snatch recently. I wasn't a big fan of Lock, Stock so was never too keen on seeing Snatch but I'm glad I did. One of the best British films I've seen and Brad Pitt's role as a gypsy is genius.

Currently hopelessly in love with the Marvel Noir and Marvel Zombies series.
If you've not already, check out 1602 by Neil Gaiman, which is just a what-if the Marvel Universe was set in 1602 but is really well written (as you'd expect by Neil Gaiman). Lots of clever twists and it makes sense in a way how the X-Men are treated as witches in the times of James I and the Spanish Inquisition etc

I've mostly just got Alan Moore stuff and Frank Miller's Batmans. Anybody got some good recommendations? I'm thinking of starting on The Boys, Y: The Last Man or 100 Bullets soon.
If you enjoyed Frank Miller's Batman then you may enjoy Scott Snyder's recent run on Detective Comics which has been collected as Batman: The Black Mirror. Dick Grayson is Batman in this story but it follows on 20+ years from Year One.
My favourite series is Preacher by Garth Ennis which is equally violent, hilarious and moving throughout. Essential.

Michael Cera for being a fucking cunt.
Mark Millar for killing Spider-Man.
Everyone else. Cunts.
xx
I'm pretty sure it was Brian Michael Bendis that killed Spiderman. But it was Ultimate Spiderman so it didn't really count...

I think Aberdeen is pretty good for a lot of reasons. However, I also think Hull is great too so maybe my opinion isn't really valid...

I need to get Gotham Central. I've been enjoying Brubaker's supernatural crime noir 'Fatale'.
Picked up Daredevil: The Man Without Fear by Frank Miller, it was excellent except for the part of where he gets the name Daredevil. I thought that made no sense. All of Bendis and Brubaker Daredevil stuff is excellent and I've heard great things about Mark Waid's run.
The Boys by Garth Ennis is reaching a stunning conclusion and Brian Azzarello's unique take on Wonder Woman has been awesome.
