hmmm... I've been trying to keep my posts quite low lately (usually when I post something I regret it later) but this one's making me a bit stressed.

It really fucking pisses me off that the police make one mistake and now they're being villainised by the media and every joe-public that feels like it. I see exactly where people are coming from. an innocent man is dead, that is terrible news in any country no matter what the circumstances. But at the same time it just seems completely wrong to me that the police are not allowed any margin for error. what would you rather? that the police do fuck all while many more innocent people are at risk from bombings and terrorist attacks? If he had turned out to be a bomber and the police had done nothing then the media and the public would be moaning about that so the police can't win.

I understand what people are saying when they call for the chief of police to resign but just think about it for a second... A: if he does resign then what diffrence will it make? that man will still be dead. B: public contempt for the police and government must be making the those terrorist cunts feel even better about the sick acts they have carried out. Now not only have they terrified our nations capital but they've started a massive nation-wide disagreement.

As for all the nonsense about his skin colour or what he looked like etc... You people need to listen to yourselves. He wasn't shot for any other reason than they thought he was a terrorist. Does it not seem a little strange that a man who's Visa for this country had run out 2 years ago was shot for attempting to evade arrest? I doh't know if he ran away from them or not and quite frankly neither do any of you because we weren't there but I do find it odd. I know if I was feeling a bit shifty about the fact I wasn't legally allowed to stay in the country then I might be prone to do some stupid things when faced by the police...

I'm not having a go or saying anyone's wrong but I just think people need to step back, calm down and think about what they are actually saying. It's not a case of simple black and white here, mistakes happen in every line of work and sadly that goes for the police as well.

im with this guy here...aberdeen cannot even compare with barcelona...as for marschial college being a nicer building than the sagrada familia..the two shouldnt even be mentioned in the same sentence let alone compared...both are beutiful but to compare two very different buildings is just silly...these two cities couldnt be any different if they tried and thus comparing the two is not something that should be done. ah ok, I took what you said a bit wrong. I'd agree in today's sensationalist obsessed artworld that genuinely talented painters like Picasso and also Dali would both probably be under-appreciated, pretty sad times when you can say something like that and mean it huh?

Also...

Picasso, Dali, Gaudi. common connection? they've all lived in barcelona at some point, coincidence? and I don't say that to spark arguements, I genuinely wonder if people think there's some form of connection between their work and the influence of the city?

i don't know why you're getting so annoyed. I'm not slagging aberdeen or you off, I just think barcelona is a nicer city to look at in general, it comes down to something you said earlier, Aberdeen is mostly built from one distinctive type of stone. However the predominant colour of that stone is grey. This, to be honest, makes aberdeen quite a grey place. Now I know why everything is built from granite so I don't need it explained to me but do you not think if you look at barcelona, with it's vibrant colours, exciting shapes and variety of building materials then look at aberdeen which is predominantly grey, built from one type of stone that aberdeen is just a bit dull in comparison? you might not, that's your call but I just don't really think that architecturally, aberdeen is a particularly stimulating place to look at. I do apologise if my saying that pisses you off but I'm just saying what I think.

but the only reason chelsea got a goal was because of an OG... did they play at the stamford bridge or the nou camp last night? I'd imagine that could make a difference to next weeks game

sorry, I just about passed out from shock there... Dali has more skill than Picasso? and he's in the same league as Davinci and Michaelangelo? I'm sorry but Picasso would never be ignored for his work, in painting terms he's probably one of the most important 20th century artists, he looked at life in a completely different way to everyone else, he got into the Barcelona school of art at 15, 15 for fucks sake! he could paint as realistically as the best of them but eventually got fed up of it and started something else completely different, changing the artworld completely and influencing just about everyone that came after him. Dali's not bad but isn't in the same league as the real masters. Duchamp also turned the artworld inside out with one piece and challenged every single conception about art that had stood before. You can be tired all you like but a post like that makes me query how much you really understand what you're talking about...

and to the super response of "fuck you" I'd have to say that I agree the marschall college is a great building but I don't think you can argue that aberdeen has the same overall quality of architecture as barcelona can you? and why does me being in glasgow have anything to do with my opinions on aberdeen? I've lived in the deen long enough to know what the buildings look like for christs sake...

Gaudi's a genius, shame there aren't more architects with ideas like him these days, compare Aberdeen to Barcelona for example... it'd be so nice if we had exciting buildings like those to give our city a bit of much needed character...

I'm amazed by the number of people referencing Giger, I had no idea people thought that much of him. I'm not his biggest fan but the concept work he did for Alien and Aliens is some of the most imaginative work I think I've ever seen.

Dali on the other hand is a bit overated in my opinion, he was good but not in the same league as Picasso, Duchamp(sp?), Warhol etc. I think Dali is often favoured by people because he's very easy to write about so he's usually one of the first artists that people learn about at school (along with Van Gogh).

Also, no-one seems to have mentioned anyone except painters... does nobody admire video artists or architects etc in the same way they do painters?

if we could ever find consistency then we'd be doing alright. it's just the fact that you never know if we are going to actually play or not. i reckon we have a decent side but every liverpool fan will tell you that they're frustrated about the inconsistency of the team.

as for the "plot holes" in FF7...

I remember in a lecture a few weeks ago we were being told about how cinema goers don't neccesarily care about little holes in the plot of a film because when you watch a film you put yourself in a different state of mind known as the passive submissive or something along those lines. basically it means that you allow yourself to think those holes don't matter and just accept any information regarding events building up to those you are watching. It might be a tenious link but I think that games are much the same in that way. when you play FF7 (or any other RPG for that matter) you have to immerse yourself into the game world, you can't just pick up and play it for 5 minutes, so I'd imagine that when you're in that state you don't really question these things but accept them in order to continue having fun playing and seeing what happens next.

it does pose the question though... Do games developers know this and use it to their advantage (i.e thinking they can get away with plot-holes and the like) or do the developers not know about this and it just so happens that because of this common human trait we tend to accept what could be described as a not entirely completed project?

in short, I'm saying the old firm have pretty much bought their way to the top since the eighties and, as such, are doing absolutely bollocks all for scottish football, especially the international game. The downside of this is that the rest of the SPL has attempted to follow suit, but as none of them actually have any money they've spent the past decade and a half throwing away money (that could have funded better youth team infrastructures) on players who aren't actually that much better than our own but have slightly fancier sounding names...

My vote's on Keane, I don't think I've ever been as bored listening to a song as when one of their identikit, shitty, hollyoaks-indy ballads comes on the radio. Also, Goldie Lookin Chain are fucking shite as well.
