  1. is this one of those offers where you lure them in with a free shag then charge them the next time cos their so addictied to your amazing fuck that they have to get it??

a bit like drug dealers with crack or those weekly magazines. start off 99p

    next weeks issue 4.99

those magazines usually come with a free collectable: (yep kids here comes the obvious...)

"Issue #1 comes with these amazing free genital warts and this fantastic display case. Over the next 8 weeks you can collect all of the major STD's and find out fascinating facts about the bacteria that causes them and the filthy sluts that give you them."

  2. yeah he used to go into McDonalds ask for a large cup then went to the toilet and filled it with cider. I also saw him being chucked out of Yates for asking for change constantly' date=' and was absolutely gob smacked to see him at the last manics gig in glasgow[/quote']

i think you guys could be reffering to the world famous (in aberdeen) "Mushy John".

  3. But then theres a world of difference between happy and entertained. Generally' date=' entertainment in its modern gig going context doesn't hold connotations of art. I'm sure people who go to modern 'serious music' recitals arent there primarily for entertainment (as opposed to kids who want to jump around) leave feeling happy but more importantly feel possibly touched, inspired or just love hearing insane shred cello solos. To me, entertainment is cheap, gimmicky and certainly not the word that pops into my head as a term for art - virtuoso or not.[/quote']

sorry what? entertainment is a term that can relate to any sense of the consumer feeling satisfied and happy with what they have just experienced. that could be through higher Culture "artforms" such as jazz music, classical literature, sculpture etc or it could be that they have just watched mr Bean on video and laughed their ass off at the complete foolishness of it. in both cases the consumer experiences something that makes them happy. No offense but your definition of entertainment is just plain wrong (i'm in the process of studying such sections of culture) and I think you're getting high Culture mixed up with mass (or low) culture. nothing wrong with that, but you're arguement is seriously flawed.

Another point I feel inclined to bring up is, surely the only reason you should go and see music is that it makes you feel happy and satisfied (touched, inspired etc, they all involve enjoyment of the music, even sad songs). Going to watch music being played just because it is considered to be "artistic" ( I think you mean High Culture here) or inventive is a bit dumb shall we say, why would you put yourself through something you didn't enjoy for the sake of appearing educated?

  4. condaleeza rice vs Hill Clinton... black woman versus white woman? in the states? surely that's far to much like equal rights for the god-tossing, redneck-sympathising, foreigner hating god ole U.S of A?

if Jed Bush even considers the position i'm leaving for an island in the south pacific. If anyone fancies trying to live there with me feel free, but if you tell anyone where we are I'll butcher you...

  5. Try get your hands on the Nov MRR alot of interesting columns about this new 'Conservative Punk' movement' date=' my two pence: Fat Mike is as big a moron as George W and is merely using the whle thing in an attempt to sell more records and achieve greater celebrity status, i'm sure he is against the president however printing t-shirts with 'not my president' on the front and then a huge fat wreck label on the back is nothing more than a cheap advertising campaign in my eyes.[/quote']

    well fucking said

  6. We were debating this the other night. We reckon that there will be at least another 7 years of Labour. Blair will win the next election and then hand off to Brown.

Lib Dems will be much stronger at the next election. Although it doesn`t help having a such a softly spoken highlander as their leader.

i can say in all honesty, the thought of George Bush and Gordon Brown basically running the planet REALLY has me scared, there's just something about handing control over to the world's dumbest spokesperson and a man who looks like he could very well be the son of lucifer...

roll on Hillary and Charles Kennedy... shame it won't happen.

  7. i don't think that was his music conveying his downward spiral' date=' i think it was the sound of a drunk idiot hippy collapsing into his own self-indulgence, nothing more nothing less, these are useless myths masquerading as "rock n roll history", its disgusting, its cheap and its tawdry, i wish kids like yourself would stop buying into this trashy paperback story of a drunk

i just think its hilarious how people will believe anything they read about people, i couldn't care less about how many bottles of whiskey or how many lines of cocaine he could snort off Nico's tits and how this drunken and drug-fuelled stumblings reflected through some convoluted keyboard wailings in "Not To Touch The Earth", i don't think they deserve the accolades and plaudits some lazy rock journalist tosspots who love some flashy rockstar hero image to wax lyrical about it by writing some wanky platitudes comparing his words to William Blake or W.B Yeats or James Joyce or whoever and saying "oooooooh he was more than merely a singer, he was a poet", bollocks to it all, its just trash[/quote']

ok, who does deserve that sort of status? watch the live footage, regardless of wether he was pissed or not he was still an amazing showman. as for your comment about him being a dirty drunk, well if we discredited every drunk/drug addict rockstar then we'd have very few left wouldn't we? and they'd be boring as fuck.

  8. anyone else get nause..nauose..naeuseas na' date='..sick of all these top ten,all time, lifetime, awards, gods of rockj, hall of fame garbage .seein all these idiots, ozzy, the clash, sittin about yakin 4 the millionth time about their careers, about rock ideals, while acceptin their latest statuete live via sattelite from their mansion??? they are not real people people.they sold out.thats about it[/quote']

that really doesn't make you sound very intelligent y'know...

  9. Strachan would be perfect. I mean PERFECT, he understands the scottish game completely, used to play for scotland, commands respect and has proved he knows how to manage a footbal team. He also cares about the team (I get the impression Vogts didn't for some reason...)

    except

He's got a presenting contract with the BBC and the job's not the most tempting right now...

  10. Jim Morrison was no more self indulgent than Lennon (imo). in fact a lot of Lennon's later "stunts" seem to be a bit morrisonesque now that I think about it.

but it's still gotta be Jimmy, although now I think about it, James Brown did invent one genre and was responsible for the creation of the most popular/influential genre of recent times... he should definately be in there too.

  11. well my heart says Hendrix, but my head says the Stones... and the rest of me wonders why

    A) the beach boys went in over the fucking DOORS!?!

    B) U2 are in the 5 founding members? if there was any justice in this world then they'd be banned from even entering... I blame that cunt Theakston :swearing:

still the whole series has made me realise how many truly great artists there have been in the past 50 years, especially when you consider there are a lot of bands that won't have gone in because they're too underground (the ramones for example)

  12. just wondering because I'm considering buying it. is it easy to use? am I going to need a whole heap of plugins to use it?

if you're not fan why not? and can you recommend any more suitable programs for someone who wants to start making their own music on a computer but doesn't really know a great deal about the whole thing?

  13. yeah 5-0... amazing what can happen when a game's referee'd by a man who has a track record of fucking up during Rangers games and is probably the least respected official in Britain, still it's Rangers and as EVERY Aberdeen fan knows it's still going to take a long time before we can beat those Hun bastards again... which is going to make it all the sweeter when we finally get round to gubbing you...

  14. What a silly thing to say.

Why do you think I was talking to you specifically? I wasn't. How very narcissistic of you.

    Or "aberdeen-music-and-mr-mike-the-pedantic-wanker.com"

Although I like that one' date=' when it comes to urls, catchier/simpler is better.

If you want me to get back to your original post and actually directly challenge you on that, here you are:

Every single person in the photo is from a rock band? *sigh* It's only a photo. It doesn't really matter but I'm sure it could be changed at some point. As for the clubs, those who ask for a forum get one. If other clubs asked they'd get. Blame the clubs, not the site.

No-one is preventing this. It only takes some people to do it.

But *this* site is already for ABERDEEEN based music (the music scene of aberdeen, scotland) and has no particular desire to focus solely on rock music as far as I'm aware. Unlike the interim government of Iraq it does not require to us to 'recruit' people from every 'tribe' in order to make it appear credible. Aberdeen-music.com is an organic creation and those who join it are free to discuss whatever musical events they choose. They are also free not to join it and many non-rock artists have exercised that freedom. Calling it aberdeen-rockmusic.com would be a waste of 40 and wholly incorrect.

I don't see why Neil would want to pander to a half-assed ignorant idea like you've just suggested as it would take time, effort and money and accomplish absolutely nothing.[/quote']

seeing as you've taken such a long time finding lots of bits from my previous posts to pick up on then i can only commend on your time wasting skills. like I said, think whatever the fuck you want, I didn't come here to argue with you.

  15. I dunno about saying that rock music doesn't have lyrical skill man - I'd say I'm equally in awe of rock and rap artists equally in a lyrical sense. There's songs by say Faith No More' date=' Incubus or Marilyn Manson that have lyrics just as potent as say Jurassic 5, The Roots or Blackalicious to mine ears :)[/quote']

yeah but I think by lyrical skill he means the flow of an MC. to be honest rock singers tend not to have the same flow as MC's, although early incubus and faith no more do.

  16. are they not wrestlers now or something? I remember when I was wee a guy I knew genuinely believed they were going to kill themselves after their 10th album or something...

...that was a bit silly really. As far as I remembered they weren't so hot music wise anyway.

  17. So your point is that people can't tell us about other types of music events' date=' because no-one tells us about other types of music events?

    ????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

I wasn't trying to make a point by asking people to offer their suggestions, I was giving people the opportunity to change the trend. So while I was being constructive and forward looking, you were being insulting and argumentative. If that's the road YOU want to take, be MY guest.[/quote']

well I'll deal with the likes of you first...

1st point was that most people on here couldn't tell you about what was going on (other than rock gigs) because no one was telling them.

secondly (and it may have been a misinterpretation)

"List the people and the places."

that gives me the impression of you asking to know all the non rock gigs in aberdeen which blatantly I am not going to know about. still, an arguement isn't what I made this post for so as far as I'm concerned you can think what ever the fuck you want.

My main point was not that it's pissing me off that there's no mention of other music styles (hell I dont even live in aberdeen most of the time) but more that I find it a tad odd that the site should be called "aberdeen-music" when really a name like "aberdeen-rockmusic" or "we're-fae-the-'deen-'n-we-love-rock.com" or something like that might suit it better. still at least I know there's some people around here that might respond to any threads I might open in future about something other than the new darkness album or whatever is the flavour of the month in kerrang.

just realised how arsey that last bit sounds. like I said I'm not looking for a fight, it was meant as a bit of tongue in cheek humour.
