  1. Yeah same' date=' i might be able to find one somehwere.

PS. Feeble have you passed your driving test yet?[/quote']

Lol - yeah, I passed about 5 weeks ago now! Been out on the road driving, too busy to come here and say though!

Driving's definitely the ultimate banter and also the ultimate kick in the wallet as someone's already reversed into my car and I just had to pay £80 for a return pipe for my power steering as no scrappies had the exact pipe I needed :(

But yeah - cheers for everyone finding this out!

  2. I really need help - anyone who grew up in the 80's/90's should know what I'm talking about when I mention those small googly eyed furball things that had sticky feet so you could stick them to things, like your car/window ledge/wall etc. If I recall correctly grampian fire service etc used to use them to get children to know about fire and stuff. Please tell me I'm not the only one who remembers these things.

Anyway, I really need to find out what they were called and to get a damn photo of one of them to prove to a hot girl that they existed. If anyone can give me the proper name to search for a photo, or has a photo of one of these damn things they could send me then I would be intensely grateful!

    Cheers in advance.

  3. I was also with roadwise, but I got Mike Carrison and he was an asshole. He kept insisting that I needed to book at least 45 lessons, even though I'd done a lot of what was needed after 12. Then when I booked my test, he spent the last 5 weeks I was with him telling me I was a shit driver, to cancel my test and to book more lessons with him. It kinda damaged my confidence.

On the last lesson I had with him, it was in my mum's car (first lesson in my mum's car with the guy, 'cause I told him I didn't want to do my test in his car :p) and as I was coming to the end of my driveway he told me to creep out to see 'cause it's pretty blind. I proceeded to creep out into the path of a fucking tractor. The tractor then proceeded to nuke the front of Ma Smith's shiny punto while old Mikey started yelling with joy, because he had been proved right that I was a shit driver - even though he should have said "stop" or put on the handbrake or something before the tractor hit the car. The guy said stop as the tractor hit instead though. Then when I went inside to get my parents to look at the damage to the car, he started telling them how much I suck at driving and that he didn't understand why I didn't listen to him when he told me to cancel my test as I would surely fail unless I booked 20/30 more lessons. All of this took it's toll on my confidence, of course so that was a bit shit.

But ah well, in the end I sacked him - that lesson was the worst, my mum and dad forced me to finish the rest of the lesson in his car, and I was getting so pissed off because instead of making sure I was alright or trying to calm my extremely shaken nerves, the prick started trying to force me to book all those extra lessons! When I told him that I quite simply wouldn't be able to afford more lessons, he went on a rant about how I was crap and would fail etc, to cancel the test, that the national average for lessons was 45 and how could I expect to pass having had only 17 lessons. I then asked him if the average person drove a lamborghini diablo in their test, which they must be able to afford if they can spend that amount of money on driving lessons. He wasn't too happy about that, but oh well.

Anyway, I went off topic on a bit of a rant there I guess. Uhhh, my advice - if you go with roadwise, don't go with mike carrison. The guy is a dick. A lot of my friends have gone with Graham Coutts and said that he was really good, also Ian Allen is meant to be a good instructor. Oh, and Coutts drives a 1.8 Turbo Diesel Focus, and from what I've heard he doesn't mind if his students put their foot down a bit so I guess that would be good banter.

  4. Yeah, I think I can see both points there. When I got my clio I was used to my mum's car, but I got used to it within 20 minutes of driving :)

Although my ex instructor's car was a ford ka and I absolutely hated it. I just thought it was a crap car, the clutch was shit and I hated the instructor.

  5. I would use public transport, but where I live there's only a bus every two hours to the nearest town, and they stop running at about 6. Also, it costs about £18 for me to get a taxi home if I'm out, so it's really quite a steep cost. Also, I just want to have passed my test so that I don't have to sit around in the common room all day when I've only got a class first and last at school. Sack that! As soon as I've passed I'll go in, register go to my first class and then I'll be gone! After signing out of course. That means I'll get like an extra 4 hours sleep every day. I can hardly wait!

  6. Yeah, cheers guys - I'm figuring since I know what to expect I won't be nervous second time around, and also I'll know that it's not the end of the world - it just means having to wait a little bit more if I don't pass.

Either that or I'll smash up my car in a fit of rage and then buy a bicycle :)

  7. I failed my practical test this morning

Eurgh, it's such a kick in the teeth - I was already pretty nervous about it, and it didn't help that during my first manoeuvre, the bay park, some prick waited for at least 5 minutes in an empty car park until the examiner had finished speaking to me, I went out of the space I was in and had started to reverse back into it before nipping into the space. This of course meant that I had to stop and go forward and then reverse into a different space, and basically it just got my nerves all shot. After that the test was largely a disaster, due to me being upset/nervous by that guy.

Failing that fucking test is like a major let down, I really thought I would pass it, and kinda needed to seeing as I live in the middle of nowhere. Meh, now I have to wait at least six weeks before I get a retest, this is completely and utterly by far the gayest thing in the world.

  8. Yeah, iRiver are damned good - very, very reliable products, or at least the one I had was. I think I had my 128mb (this was back in the day, people!) for about 3 years before it broke properly. It got revived from death like, twice in that period of time - once after it was in my pocket when I was playing british bulldog and it got smooshed, and once after some prick pressed down on the play button really hard until it didn't work anymore. My standard grade art teacher fixed it on both occasions, which was pretty cool of him.

  9. Thats the last of the old old old model.

But thats awesome...a car for xmas. Sweet :)

Lol, yeah - it is quite old, still an absolute banter though. And it's an awesome colour + cost me only 1200 to insure! And that's for a 1.4, which is pretty good going, in my opinion.

  10. The new shape?

Nah, it's a 97 R reg, last year of the old model - on the plus side the shape is more masculine, on the downside the interior looks a little dated, but I'll be getting that sorted soon enough :p

It's quick off the mark though, and I just hope the snow is still here when I pass my test so I can go and pull some handbrakers in abandoned carparks!

  11. Ok things arent looking very merry for me at the moment. I'm at Home in the middle of fucking nowhere in quite possibly scotlands most backwards town. Just discovered none of my mates are going to be home for Christmas' date=' so i have noone to go to the pub in, have a dissertation due in on the ninth so I am supposed to be working on that. None of my family are coming for christmas dinner on Christmas day so It'll just be my Mum, Dad and myself. Apparently half of my presents havent arrived, im skint and cant buy anyone else presents, my tiny single bed is possibly the most uncomfortable thing i've ever slept in, the heating is on too high, my parents watch the news all the time and there's nowhere to smoke slyly.

I am beginning to see Scrooges point.[/quote']

Argh, not being able to smoke - nightmare!

  12. To be fair' date=' the guidance teacher isn't meant to fill in the bit about criminal records. So if you wanted to change it, why would you put it down yourself in the first place, see?[/quote']

See, that's why I wanted to have words with him - I most certainly didn't say that I had criminal convictions, and I wondered how it came to be that the information was there.

He had my log in details for UCAS so it's not an impossibility that he put that information there.

Oh well, the main thing is that it got sorted in the end.

  13. The issue got sorted yesterday, but it took a while. At first my guidance teacher told me that he could change it but he wasn't going to. This of course made me a little angry etc. Lots of words were exchanged and eventually my dad had to go and tell him that he was going to change it or else. So now everything's good :)

  14. dude? have you told your parents?

Yeah, as soon as I saw it (about half an hour ago :S ) I went and woke up my mum, who promptly raged because we've had so many problems with my guidance teacher in the past.

Then she realised the time and scolded me for being up this late, and told me to go to bed and that we'll deal with it in the morning.

I expect if he doesn't change the information immediately then he'll be getting an earful from my mum and dad.

Do you think I'd have genuine grounds for legal action if the information isn't changed, considering it can really only have a detrimental effect on my application success, and also because it just isn't correct information?
