  1. I had an interview at the start of the year, went really well, everyone was nice and enthusiastic at the end and talking about getting me in to meet the company director ASAP. Never heard back from them. Agency that arranged the interview said it just went dead and they couldn't get any update either.

Think it's really bad form not to let interview candidates know if they've been successful or not but sadly it does happen.

Best bet, as Adam said, is to chase up through an HR contact or the agency that arranged the interview.

  2. Friday: Get keys to new house

Saturday: All our worldy goods getting delivered from storage

    Sunday: Unpacking

Monday: More unpacking and sorting out followed by two weeks of relaxing and not being in the office.

  3. Currently staying at my folks for a couple of weeks while I'm between houses.  We're arranging all the insurance and utilities for the new house and almost without fail every single one of them is fucking up the correspondence.  Keep telling them we've not moved in yet and give them our entry date then ask them to send any letters, or in BT's case the new broadband equipment, to my parent's address and instead they keep sending it to the new house.

Mostly this is just a minor irritation but the fucking home insurance did it and we need the documents for the mortgage. Now BT have done it with the broadband router that someone needs to be in to sign for.  Bunch of bastards the lot of them.

  4. This would all fall into place but my managers on his holidays for 2 weeks. What would be the best way to hand in my notice?

Have you got an area supervisor or head office at your current job? If your line manager is away and you have to give two weeks then best thing to do is formally tell the next person up.

  5. So, it seems races run under Scottish Athletics don't let you have headphones in to listen to music as you're running.

If it's a big race you'll probably find shitloads of folk wearing headphones anyway because the public don't bother reading mundane things like rules

  6. I've been contacted by recruiters through LinkedIn but to be honest it's the same kind of fishing that I get just from having my CV on Oil Careers or other sites.  Best leads have always come from sitting down with agencies that know my area and talking about what I'm looking for with them face to face.

  7. Just had a quick look at it. I find it very strange that there is a green flag being waved while the car is still being recovered. Surely it should still be yellow flags at all stations until well after the hazard?

I've not watched the video but have seen pictures of the accident and there's a marshall waving a green flag immediately after the site of the accident, so assume that's what's being referred to (and it was during the race, before the red flag).  With double waved yellows in the corners leading up to the accident site the green flag will notify them that this is the reason for the yellow flags and they're now clear to resume racing past that point.

  8. Eventful race at Suzuka today with a horrific sounding crash for Bianchi. Hope he's OK but doesn't seem good from initial reports.

Brilliant drive from Button. Showed what he's still capable of and I think he could have sneaked a podium if the race had gone the distance.  But generally I agree with Lucky that the most likely route is going to be retirement for him.

  9. Also developers are trying to buy the land in the Lochton woods to the north of the town which locals are unhappy about

I think that's all part of the same Leys Estate development as all the Hill of Banchory stuff.  Sure at one point Deeside Brewery was going to be part of that development but haven't heard much more about that recently.

  10. You could check the Deeside Piper website and rip off their stories, though they're not exactly renowned for hard hitting journalism.  Most of their time at the moment appears to be spent bigging up the local Tory election candidate.

There's a new rum distillery being built in the business park. Due to start operating next year I think.  Google Dark Matter distillers.

Many locals are idly speculating when, if ever, the new sports centre will be built. Been promised since long before I moved to Banchory and just seems to get pushed back and back.

Local resident and hill runner Robbie Simpson has been having a good summer racing season in the Alps including racing at European and World Championships, check his blog at http://mountainrunningman.com/

Can't think of much really contentious stuff that's happened recently. Someone tried to break into Morrisons earlier this week, that's about it.

Of course the most devastating news for Banchory is my imminent departure next week.
