Yes! Nicely done
I'd just got in my car to drive off, looked up and saw you and thought "Oh there's Euan. I could drive past and give him a honk and a wave... no... wait... I could ignore him and go home and post in the stalking thread instead".
Yes I definitely chose the friendly option there.

Mary King's Close is good, would second that. Would also recommend booking a fancy restaurant at lunchtime. Most of the high end and michelin ones do fixed price set menus over lunch which are great value, but you usually need to book in advance.
if you just want to stuff your face and like pork then get a roll from Oink. It's a shop just selling hog roast rolls.
The Stand comedy club is good for a night out too.

Waltz in Co-Op Stonehaven car park beside the boot of a red car earlier tonight.

I'm getting Tommy Vance VH1 flashbacks.

I'm enjoying the Sopranos so much. I stayed up until 3am watching it last night and I've been fucked at work all day, but I'm doing it again tonight.
When I did that on my 1st or 2nd run through I ended up having paranoid dreams of the FBI chasing me...

I got pointed to this site today:
Film scripts. Available to read for free.
Today my procrastination has mostly involved reading Aliens and Die Hard.
-
I'm enjoying it more now I'm further into the series. I enjoyed the Chang and Norma episodes.
I'm also four episodes in to series 3 of The Sopranos. After a slow start to the series last night's episode was back to edge of the seat nail-biting stuff. Terrific.
Season 3 has some brilliant stuff in it. Some real standout episodes and a lot of groundwork gets laid for later seasons.

I just spent ten minutes reading quotes from the movie Airheads because I was sure there was a line about battle of the bands in it. Couldn't find it. Great ten minutes though.

I definitely did Sunset Song at school and thus have always written it off as a children's book. Am I wrong about this?
Definitely not a children's book. Much talk of sexy times and doric swearing.

Ramboland, clearly.
Didn't it close down?

Just finished 'Sunset Song' by Lewis Grassic Gibbon. Was sure I must have read it at school and have strong memories of watching some iffy film adaption in standard grade but none of it seemed to ring a bell.
Despite that it was great. A superb book and a powerful story. Especially resonant with both sides of my family having strong Mearns farming roots. Drove down to Castleton Farm Shop yesterday and was looking at the surrounding area a bit differently now trying to picture Kinraddie just over the other side of the hill.
Rest of the Scots Quair are now on my Kindle ready to go.

No way Jon's dead though. Not a chance.
http://www.ew.com/article/2015/06/14/game-thrones-jon-dies-interview
Interview aside, I'm with you. I just don't see it. Having Davos and Melisandre move to the wall just as he gets shivved seems awfully convenient as well. Unless there's a Jon Snow bonfire in the first scene of next season I'll expect to see him again.

I'm kind of relieved that the season's over. What a complete pile of wank most of it was. Dorne was so fucking awful!
It's true that books 4 and 5 can be long winded and have plotlines which advance slowly, but there's still some great stuff in there that they just completely missed out as a means to simplify or streamline things for TV, the majority of which were failures.
Do yourselves a favour and read the books. They aren't perfect, but there's significantly more depth/intrigue and less 'shirtless Ramsay beats Ironborn/Brienne leaves 5 seconds before candle gets lit' moments.

What the hell is going on in Aberdeen just now? Is it really as grim as i'm hearing?
Oil price goes down, contracts get lost, people lose jobs...do I understand the situation right? If that's the case, then when the price of oil goes back up everyone will be back to work until it happens again. What a horrible market.
My pet hate for the day: any social media account with 'bible' in the title.
It's pretty grim. Most companies have announced job cuts in some form. I know a lot of people here and in other companies that are under review or have been made redundant. Contractors have been dumped as well or had to take big rate cuts. Those that are left all seem to be miserable (I fall into that camp).
But there is still work out there, the industry hasn't ground to a complete halt and the oil price is improving slowly. Things will move on.

Was rejected for a contract role as according to agency I didn't match the spec required (which was surprising as reading the spec I hit every requirement listed). Just been approached by another agency who have came across my CV, asking if I'm interested in the same role.
ARGH!
I fucking hate this shit. Also got knocked back today for another role I was really interested in without even an interview. There were over 60 fucking applicants. Last time I advertised a role for my team here last year we had just 10 and only 1 was suitable for interview. The market is brutal just now.

It's been a few years since I read it but I thought the film was fairly true to the book.....
Hmm. Broadly. It changes a lot of the detail though, but I didn't mind that much. If you do a search online though there's a fuckload of fanboy arguments and nerd meltdowns about how bad the film was because Zaphod didn't have two heads side by side or the heart of gold was the wrong shape.

his HILARIOUS grammar Nazi moment, etc.
Best moment of the season for me. Just tossed in there, brilliant.
I've read the books but so far season 5 has deviated so much in the bits that the books cover and overtaken it in others so I don't have a fucking clue what's going to happen now.

I've started reading 'the restaurant at the end of the universe'.
I didn't realise Douglas Adams was dead. It's a shame he didn't get to see the hitchhikers guide movie as it really did the book justice.
I've got the whole trilogy (of five books) loaded on my kindle ready to go at some point. Been years since I read them.
I really enjoyed the film but it seems to have had a mixed reception from Hitchhikers fans who willfully ignored the fact that the story has changed every time it moves format from radio to book to text adventure to tv series to movie.

How bad are the scenes in Dorne this season. I'm reading the book the current season is loosely based on at the moment and the pacing of what happens in Dorne is much better. In the TV show it doesn't even seem to make sense. First time we saw the sand snakes they were deciding to take their own revenge, next we see they are already trying to kidnap her (with no plan). They also just happen to go at exactly the same time as Jaime and Bronn, convenient. Their plan was equally non existent as well, why not have Bronn just walk up to Myrcella say he's their on Prince Doran's command and they go meet Jaime so he is not spotted. It just seems really rushed and poorly written, it's ruining Dorne and Dorne is really good in the book (I'm not a total book wanker but the whole Dorne part is being butchered in the show, Obarra Sand especially is the worst character in the show).
It's not brilliant, but they're hampered by the 10 episode structure and the need to keep all the other storylines moving at the same time. They just can't do justice to every part of the story. On the plus side it does mean we get more of Bronn on screen, which if they hadn't made the changes from the book we probably wouldn't have so there's that. His dialogue is the best bit of the Dornish escapade so far.
Also, with Dorn, were they not filming large parts of it in Spain? Why was Jaime and Bronn's horse ride to the gardens over distinctly Irish and cold looking grassy dunes?

Confession: I can't really get into fantasy or sci-fi at all.
I include in this stuff like Game of Thrones, Star Wars, Star Trek, Lord of the Rings, all that stuff.
It's not like I don't have an imagination, I just can't deal with elves and ewoks and all that patter. I just prefer convincing stories. Does that make me dense, or...?
That said, I like 'The Metamorphosis' even though it's entirely bizarre. And surrealism I can deal with. Just not GoT or whatever.
My wife is the same (though she likes GoT). She just can't deal with Sci-Fi on any level, no matter how funny, well written or directed the TV series or film may be. As soon as she sees a spaceship or alien she just completely switches off. She's the same with comic-book movies and TV series too. Won't even attempt to watch them anymore.

Ryan Jack's signed an extension with the Dons keeping him here until 2017.

Well, I ran the whole way. 2:30. Paced myself really well at the start and probably could've pushed it a bit more than I did in the last 4 miles because I had a fair amount of energy left. I was so concentrated on not having to slow down to a walk so I was really cautious and didn't gauge how fast I could go properly. About 800m before the finish line you get herded up onto a boardwalk and there were loads of people cheering everyone on, was a really cool feeling.
There's no way in hell I could've done it 6 months ago so i've got to be pleased with that. I don't think i've caught the runner's bug quite yet though. Maybe once I start actually considering times and PBs it'll catch on. For the most part I found the actual running pretty boring. After the race I was thinking a full marathon just seems ludicrous but with a bit of time and more intensive training it doesn't seem so impossible anymore. Still... the thought of the race I just did being ONLY HALF WAY ROUND is mental. Hats off to you proper runners.
Good effort! Well done for finishing your first half!
I know what you mean about marathons. I still think the thought of running for 4-5 hours in a single race is pretty daunting. I think a half marathon is quite a good length for me but I will probably get round to doing a full marathon or an ultra at some point.

Does she answer the phone with speakerphone as well? Might be time to arrange a sweary prank call.
