Guest allsystemsfail
APC, on their album eMOTIVe, have chosen to cover Annihilation by legendary 80s US anarcho-punks Crucifix. Hoping that on hearing the song, folks will then wanna check out the original. steve corps
they have turned annihilation into a nursery rhyme, with one understated guitar line running through the second half! its pretty cool but they have butchered fear's 'lets have a war' and black flag's 'gimme gimme gimme' .the rest of the record is pretty boring and i absolutely love APC so thats saying something.the only thing that got me hard was the stunning remix of pet from the thirteenth step record.APC v's NIN i'd say.ironically (and its open to interpretation) but thats an anti war song i believe, and it shines above the covers they have recorded, by miles! hopefully that would get people to check out apc's first two albums beyond this.for me, the beauty of a perfect circle lay in the ethereal, entirely personal nature of the lyrics and the way they didnt feel the need to make standpoints and observations about the world today (at least not in an entirely obvious, in your face manner).now they have fell squarely into the realm of musical political protest in an exceptionally ham fisted and boring way, and for me that absolutely fucking sucks.i know its not my band to say, but i'm really disapointed nonetheless."Don't fret precious I'm here, step away from the window Go back to sleep Lay your head down child I won't let the boogeyman come Counting bodies like sheep To the rhythm of the war drums Pay no mind to the rabble Pay no mind to the rabble Head down, go to sleep To the rhythm of the war drums Pay no mind what other voices say They don't care about you, like I do, like I do Safe from pain and truth and choice and other poison devils, See, they don't give a fuck about you, like I do. Just stay with me, safe and ignorant, Go back to sleep Go back to sleep Lay your head down child I won't let the boogeyman come Count the bodies like sheep To the rhythm of the war drums Pay no mind to the rabble Pay no mind to the rabble Head down, go to sleep to the rhythm of the war drums I'll be the one to protect you from Your enemies and all your demons I'll be the one to protect you from A will to survive and a voice of reason I'll be the one to protect you from Your enemies and your choices son They're one in the same I must isolate you Isolate and save you from yourself Swayin to the rhythm of the new world order and Count the bodies like sheep to the rhythm of the war drums The boogeymen are coming The boogeymen are coming Keep your head down, go to sleep, to the rhythm of the war drums Stay with me Safe and ignorant Just stay with me Hold you and protect you from the other ones The evil ones Don't love you son, Go back to sleep "nevermind, new tool record come new year hopefully. rune
Yeah you said it, good point the new cd is crap, no emotion for a supposed anti war cd, real poor. The song passive previously known as "vacant" has been totally killed. As by the previous version was alot more aggresive and better
Teabags
I heard the imagine cover, and well, I wasn't a fan of the original and cant say im really a fan of APC's version. I'm not really a fan of covers being recorded, unless its a bit of a parody style thing like Yacopsae's "Boy's Don't Cry" or Botch's "The Opera Song"(a cover of the old russian vocal piece O'Fortuna).I say roll on next year and the new Tool album. well, here's hoping. Spitshine Sonata
i think i'm the only one here that actually likes emotive. but then i was bound to, i'm pretty much an obsessive fan ;]it's not nearly as good as thirteenth step. or mer de noms. but pretty damn good all the same.i was glad we got another apc album. cause i have a feeling that once maynard goes back full time to tool and the other members of the band go to wherever they're going; we won't hear from a perfect circle again.not that i'm complaining about the new tool album. nuhuh.
