Guest Tam o' Shantie
what's the deal? i mean there are a fair amount of exciting established acts coming up these days to play the old LT, how come there are no local support slots?is it just cos the venue would prefer not to deal with mostly pish acts, is it cos the bands bring their own tour supports or what? it just seems weird that there are very rarely performances from aberdeen bands but at the same time documentations of this happening (karloff at misfits, X-certs opening for Inme etc.)thanks dudes
Ross
Usually specified by the booking agents.2x Tour Support with the order being: Opener,Support, Headliner. Thus no local opertunity. If there is the possibility of a local opener then venues are most likely to choose a band that aren`t playing 31 gigs a month in the same city. soundian
Also established acts will, by definition, have a bigger back catalogue to draw on and tend to play for somewhere like 75-90 minutes. Bung in a couple of tour supports and about 45 mins of changeover time and you're not left with much change out of 4 hours.
delboy
they sometimes do bills with all local bands though dont they?
Guest stuartmaxwell
they sometimes do bills with all local bands though dont they?nah i think that is when a promoter runs a nightthe lemon tree might lose money if they put on an all local line up (like they dont lose with the rubbish touring acts that sometimes they put on to 1/4 full venue)
delboy
aye thats true, local band nights are usually put on by an outside promoter
Guest killamangiro
watch out for a said gig by me- albeit doubtful for lemon tree listings, none the less, it'll rock/suprice you sooooooo much, wait and see.
andylemontree
Simply a case of most touring acts carrying a full supporting bill. It's a frustration for us too.We co-promote most of our local bills with the bands involved and it's worth noting that we're doing more local acts these days than ever before. And on good, weekend nights too.

Paulscoconutass
I PM'd someone a month ago and still haven't had a reply about any support slots.... I'd be better just sending a demo in then?
Pete
You'd be better emailing rather than PM'ing - Aberdeen Music ain't the be-all and end-all, you know...
