“We don't play any mainstream, pop punk, manufactured trash

sound, style and input of punk rock, collided with ska and reggae,

fourpiece punk/rock/ska band, “We’re doing it for The Punx!”

MALFUNCTION

Punk foursome Malfunction originally played around Aberdeen in

the 1980s, but are now reformed and gigging again. They’re one

of six bands nominated for Best Punk Act at the Fudge Awards -

Fri 20th Jan - Bjorn Lippy with DJ Woolie

THE RED SHOW (Glasgow)

This duo/trio played with Evil Demon Theory last november,

and were fucking great. Barnstorming riffs, great playing, and

a lot of leaping around and rock posing. I think they even got

an encore. Quirky goodtime rock n roll is their game.

THE PEEPERS

A brand-new hard rocking power pop trio whose influences

include The Lemonheads, The Posies, Teenage Fanclub

and Brendan Benson. All songs are guaranteed to be

between three and three and a half minutes and tackle

existentialist despair with melody.

Forming at the break of April 2010 Event Horses have already

become a hot tip within the Northern Ireland scene following

some high profile showcasing gigs, including opening the

mainstage at Glasgowbury 2011. Event Horses are a force of

post-punk-alt-rock-hardcore nature not to be taken lightly.

Foxbeef are a Dundee based rock quartet, by turns proggy and

funky, who return for another show. Super tight drumbeats,

Featuring everyone’s favourite folk-rap-raconteur Babar Luck

on acoustic guitar and vocals, with six-string bass and drums,

we anticipate a night of rock, reggae and jazzy mellow vibes.

Please note that Babar is playing first tonight, so expect him

onstage around 9pm. He considers himself the support act

tonight as you’ll all be dancing around to his friends from Jimmy

The Squirrel later. By all accounts, this could be one of ‘those’

The Rag N Bone Man is a one man band from the bowels

of Scotland. Amped up explosive adrenaline fuelled, one

man band brutal trash blues. Erupting slide guitar and

howling harmonica riffs, spitting torrents of raw vocals you

could hear over a working ship yard. Dark hilarious tales of

alcoholism , drugs , politics and seduction. A noise propelled

by pounding drum beats and cymbals, a sheer racket so

loud and dangerous it should carry a government health

warning.

Glasgow-based three piece Betatone Distraction play layered electronic pop with big guitars and synths that never sound like a gimmick. They take their musical cues from Placebo, Pink Floyd, Smashing Pumpkins, Radiohead, Daft Punk, The Prodigy and The Veils, but the band’s sound is ever-evolving and they’re unafraid to experiment. They share a guitarist with glaswegian rockers The Red Show, who always go down well in the bar.
