Ciara
Hey allLookin for decent pubs interested in singer/songwriter acoustic/bluegrass gig by touring musician from the Appalachian - fab performer - will be in Aberdeen for another event and had some free nights 29th Sept-2ndOct but can't find anywhere apart from Blue Lamp, Lemon tree and Tunnels on the internet...and they'll all booked it seems.Any names contacts, tips muc appreciated - this guy's finger-pickin has to be seen to be believed, the real deal!!Cheers
Alan Cynic
Drummonds might be worth a try. Or the Woodend Barn, if he's well-enough known. Kilau sometimes puts on small acoustic gigs, but payment would be in food & coffee.Cafe Musa is another possibility.
Ciara
cheersThanks Alan..will give those places a shot. Every night not working is an expensive night so anything will help. He's also a master Appalachian storyteller..wonder if any arts places or libraries might be interested? He was one of the headliners in the Edinburgh Int Storytelling fest last yearone last plea - any ideas on reasonable city centre accommodation that's not a dive/fleapit? like a 3 star, say? Guest idol_wild
Try Cellar 35. Nice little venue, very much suited to acoustic gigs.01224 640483 (that's for the Noose & Monkey pub, but it owns Cellar 35 and handles the bookings). Alan Cynic
The 'master appalachian storyteller ability' bit suggests he might well fit the bill at the Woodend Barn. It might well be worth trying the Central Library too, as they've often had storytellers, such as Bob Pegg, Jason Ringenberg and the late Stanley Robertson. It's a great space and I can walk to it...

Alan Cynic
You could try contacting some of the local promoters.....Interesting Music Promotions, or Vocoustics might have a support slot going. They both cover folk/roots/electronica/experimental, and can be contacted on this site (in the promoters forums bitty).

Anybody got any ideas? Space?
Alan Cynic
Cellar 35, as mentioned previously. I enjoyed that Castanets gig at the Malt Mill, too. The East Neuk?Belmont Social Club? The Carlton? (OK, maybe body armour might be needed there). Upstairs at the Frigate? Old King's Highway? The Blue Lamp upstairs bit was fine for Michael Chapman.Upstairs at the Old Aberdeen Kilau?????Downstairs at that church hall between the library and HMT (think it's St Mark's?). Alan Cynic
New and permanent cuts out all of my suggestions except the new Kilau You'd need a sympathetic owner. Any ex-musicians out there who own coffee shops/pubs etc?
Dave Keir
You might try Stonehaven Folk Club. Good luck!Dave

Just heard this yeasterday. Must be the econony, I suppose.Still looking for a decent central B&B pref with wi-fi.
