Do you ever get annoyed by people who tell you about that amazing time when they saw Sigur Ros support Godspeed You! Black Emperor in the Lemon Tree? You would have gone had you only a)not been working instead b)been old enough or c)gotten round to expanding your musical taste beyond that of which is played to us via the Radio or your mate Chris had lent you that Sigur Ros CD a week earlier! I'm going to be honest but that ship has sailed my friend. You can only live for the day that you might stumble upon such a gig and piss people off with such a tale of a line up so good that it merits talking about it in the years to come like its been written into local folklore.

CODES IN THE CLOUDS released their debut album "Paper Canyon" last year on one of the UK's most highly regarded Independent Labels, Erased Tapes Records. It was an immediate hit with the media.

'Is the world ready for yet another post-rock band? The answer is yes! "Paper Canyon" overflows with gaping gorges of pretty passages prone to gathering momentum before enveloping unsuspecting ears whole... A debut record of real maturity!' Best New Music ROCK SOUND

'Paper Canyon is a remarkably tight ship...from soppy piano picks to lush, pounding heroism and epic rabbit-punches of distortion. It goes to confirm that, in the right hands, post-rock works like a dentist, extracting bicuspids of bloody emotion from the mouths of people with weak spots.' COKEMACHINEGLOW (US)

Codes In The Clouds are in the middle of writing and recording their second album, and want to showcase their new material by doing a Scottish mini tour.

I believe that if you miss them on the 13th June you may just miss out on an opportunity to piss off future generations of musos. Has this sold it for you yet?

This show is going to be rather good. Barn Owl will have limited edition tour EPs for sale (20) with brand new unheard recordings...

I'll be there. I was worried by the post-rock moniker because I was getting to the point where if I'd heard one "epic, crushing, soaring, listen to the samples" post-rock song, I'd heard most of them.

However, I really, really, really like 'Paper Canyons'. So I'll be there.

bollocks, I've got a feeling I'm not going to be able to make this now

Hopefully I'll get to 1up after the picnic in the gardens. They were pretty good the last time they were up here

Luckily I have the day off today so I got to stick around and enjoy Codes In The Clouds. Good gig, nice friendly atmosphere and the bands were all top notch. Katerwaul were absolutely beasting.

Cheers to Tim and the bassist from CITC for the chat as I turned up way too early as usual!

Katerwaul and Barn Owl were both fantastic.

Us, not so much. :)

We had an off-night I think. Not helped by me having coughing fit right before going onstage, my throat was already dodgy. Ah well.
