Flaneur
I'm looking for something loud, with a solid top, that's easy to play and stays in tune.Nothing too expensive, as I expect to be playing it in the pub a lot.....A Godin, Epiphone, or similar maybe? Stichman
You should buy yourself a Yamaha F310. Big, loud, reliable and robust. You can get one for well under 100 too.

Stichman
Good guitars for sure but don't think they have a solid top?Ah, didn't spot that requirement. Yeah I think you're right.Freshman make some pretty good guitars and you can pick up a nice one for under 200. Could be a shout.
Flaneur
Thanks for all the practical replies......... I can sense a long afternoon in R 'n' B/Millers in my near future- but I really didn't want a new instrument. A castoff Epi Dove, Seagull, Takamine or such would do the trick. Apart from the sonic maturity of an older guitar, I'd rather not have to worry about the inevitable pub dings and scrapes.
