pogofish
Just to say that the cloud here is thinning & although the main peak is past, the secondary peak of the Geminid Meteors is putting-on a fairly good show. They are radiating from just left of the top left shoulder of Orion, which currently sitting just off south south west (1 am) from Aberdeen. This peak should go on for another couple of hours & therre is a good chance of seeing more here every night till the 17th.
Alan Cynic
Thanks for the reminder! Are they visible to the naked eye?
pogofish
Thanks for the reminder! Are they visible to the naked eye?Yes, although the thin cloud last night did obscure/mute the smaller ones. There were still quite a number of more spectacular trails arcing across the sky. Next big shower will be the Quadrantids - peaking on the 4th of January at @5am but hopefully something good visible from midnight-on.
