The Jones O'Connor Group* + Shutter + PlonkWed 13th DecemberDoors 8pmEntry 5The Tunnels. Carnegies Brae Aberdeen. AB10 1BF. Phone 01224 211121*Only Scottish dateThe Jones OConnor Group The Jones O'Connor Group formed in Cardiff in 2004. They use their hands and feet to manipulate or "play" instruments, which in turn creates "sounds" audible to the human ear. These "sounds" are then graded and labelled by the groups members, and reassembled into "music". This process is then demonstrated to the public, who receive or "hear" the results. The Jones O'Connor group is an inventive, engaging unit. Citing influences as broad as the Chicago avant-garde and European nu-jazz scenes, the band apply free jazz and soulful fusion sensibilities to their sonic adventures. Left of centre jazz that flirts with early 70's Miles Davis...- Buzz Magazine Compelling originals explore new forms influences such as Post Rock, Minimalism and Free Jazz Elegant ballads and fiery up-tempo grooves dynamic and inventive playing.- Jazzbreak Magazine One of the most exciting bands on the music scene today, influenced by the best forward-looking European jazz groups such as the Cinematic Orchestra. Hugely inventive originals and thoroughly dynamic and driven collective performance sure to be making waves nationally in the near future. - Cardiff University. www.myspace.com/thejonesoconnorgroup Shutter Shutter are a post-rock band that burst on to the Scottish music scene in 2005. The band have many highlights since forming such as being asked by Pelican to support them at the ABC2 in Glasgow for the only Scottish date of their Rock Sounds sponsored UK tour, Supporting The Deftones at Carling Academy in Glasgow, playing the goNorth Festival in Aberdeen, being played by Vic Galloway on BBC Radio 1 and three successful tours that have seen them cover Scotland playing from Thurso to Edinburgh, Inverness to Perth and Aberdeen to Glasgow Watching Shutter live can only be described as a unique experience. Guitarists Matt Campbell & Pete Macdonald fluidly work together (a sign of years of playing together) playing riffs that jump between the most melodic and heavy music you will ever hear. Backed by the solid bass and the innovative drumming of brothers James and Will Roberts gives Shutter an almost dance music like groove which has made them accessible to the many people in the Scotland looking for something different. www.myspace.com/shutterscotland Plonk We don't know the band line-up and we don't know what they sound like. We know who one of them is but he'd rather we didn't tell. We think, we know it will be fine. Wonder if they will play with masks on, so that nobody recognises them

I know I'd be disappointed, but imagine the anger if it was? Horrible, horrible anger.
