i'll just put in my post from the SOM forum.

this was recorded in the lock up before it got closed, yeah? i remember you saying you were doing some track-by track stuff....was this it?

the riff is cool, it's a very groovey song,( maybe in the vein of later pantera with a hint of deep purple in there)and i like how the song speeds up for the lead part mid-way. the drummer has some pretty cool ideas during the verse but goes off at times, and the stop just before the last chorus is a good use of dynamic aswell. i was waiting for a bitching solo over the verse riff somewhere, but alas i was disappointed:P the chorus has a lot of power in there too but the mixing lets it down on most counts. but this song has a lot of potential - if this was done in a good studio it could sound huge!

i know it's pretty hard to mix up a drum kit with the limited resources down there, and it shows - can hardly hear any cymbals, the drums should be a good bit louder in general - as should the bass. i know metallica mixed out the bass for AJFA, but no other band should ;).

the vocals during the first verses don't seem to have enough "oomph" in them - i dont know if this is how you meant for it to sound or not, but it detracts from the overall sound the way it is just now. perhaps making them a touch louder in the mix would help? also maybe tweaking the EQ to bring them out a little.

i know it's only a rough demo, mind, thats exactly what ours are meant to be, i wont judge your band on this demo, but the other two songs on your myspace are perhaps a little stronger! again that might be because of the production...just my two cents! hope you found this constructive.

the production was shit, BUT was ACE for all i had. a shitty 8 track with 4/5 cheap omni mics with the shittyist frequency responce. i only did it for fun then thought it sounded ok SOOOOOO thought i would let you good people (except Cloud hehe:D) take a listen and tell me what you thought.

SO keep the feedback comming.

You got a double bass pedal?

I think a few double bass kicks towards the end part of each vocal line would make a significant difference to the drive of this song. The drums do sound a bit out of place but like you said, you aren't sure what to play yet so that is merely just a suggestion.

As for the song as a whole, I thought it was pretty boring compared to the other two.

the production sounds ok for what you say you had. i like the song but agree with the whole "add a couple of kicks near the end of each vocal line".

KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!!

its not as bad as is made out, yeh the production is dodgy but what do expect with that set up.

As for the song the chorus is ok quite like that bit, but the drums are not that tight and the kick is out of time on a good few occasions. The riff at the start is cool but the song drifts off a bit from there. the vocals are ok in bits, at least you can hit that high note you try to get up to in the chorus.

The end is where this song is let down the most, the ending is terrible, badly written and performed, again especially the drums.
