well the fact is that yes ypu need some treble but thats where the high part of the neck come in handy.

second the 2 + basses should not follow the same organisation of "normal" bands yes you need a melody and accompainment BUT anybody can do it. is a bit like a canon but not so boring where spot light parts are equally distributed among the elements of the band

The more I think about this, the more I think a fretless would add an extra dimension to some tunes (only some mind). I've got a three-part bass thing running through my head which requires fretless to work but I never use her, she's a dust collector. Cheap to a good home.
