Dizzy Storm
since their last Aberdeen visit ,Doc Drake favourites Cayto have been locked away in the recording studio recording their debut full length album 'BLUNDERBUSS' which is due for release Oct 31st! yippee!! its been a long time coming!!...unpredictable jazz, classical, rock stomp! ok computer era Radiohead meets a tidy sonic youth..if you dont know them here's a review...newnoise.net Live Review Sometimes surprises are nice. Mostly they are not. But Cayto are one of the nice ones.Cayto are the kind of band that sneaks up on you. Everything about them, from their music to their presence, can be as quiet and unassuming as Clark Kent. So understated are they as a band that many are not even aware of their existence.Glasgow's Cayto are unpredictable. Many people are put off by the band's refusal to stick to one recognisable genre. They nimbly move from jolly piano-led pop romps, to brooding post-rock via Shellac-influenced guitar noise, and of course Sonic Youth-style buzz-saw pop.Although, in some ways, they are typical of the archetypal Scottish indie-rock band. These bands seem to revel in their own joyful obscurity. They thrash about and occasionally shout without a care in the world. They can be loud and they can be quiet, sometimes in the same song. Genius.check out www.cayto.com for downloads, info and a great biog!!with local support from DORIS MAVIS debut aberdeen show!! features members of Copy Haho & Masamune...'eccentric post punk with disco grooves!'and THE WELLES (tbc) ..'a noise making collective of song explorers..!' RossP
Really enjoyed Cayto's new material, and the album is ace, especially the track "Gargoyles".i didn't dislike the wells, but i just wasn't that impressed. In my opinion there were some pretty cool parts to their songs, which would suit a lot more oooompphhh, homework: Part Chimp
