spellchecker
don't you have to use a memory stick? i've a feeling it's something to do with the power switch, e.g. you have VCR->OFF->RECORD->MEMORY STICK positions on the main mode wheel. maybe. i thought that encoded it straight to the memory stick. Adam Easy Wishes
1 - No memory stick.2 - I can't actually get the files off the camera without using wacky effects or sounds. Thanks to the wonderous Sony software that comes with it.

Thanks to the wonderous Sony software that comes with it.I used to have a sony but it was shite so I got rid of it. Look on your computer for a program called "Windows Movie Maker" if you do have it it will be in the "accesories" bit. I used to always use that. But if you don't have it. I guess your screwed really 'cause I could never work the software that was provided with the camcorder without -- as you said -- dodgy effects. Don't know if what I've said made any sence or not! Ha ha but er, yeah.
