  1. I know which song it is from another forum but I won't spoil it for you! I've now heard three songs from the album and now I just want to hear it all the way through. Just need to get the rest of this week out of the way then one more week to go!
  2. Thoroughly enjoyed the performances of JCEQT and Me And Stephen Hawking last night. Looking forward to hearing the album versions now!
  3. Jools Holland tonight peeps! (Well people who actually like the Manics anyway!). Wonder which tracks they'll play? I've only heard the one song off Journal For Plague Lovers so far so will be interesting to hear any others live well!
  4. Looking at the interview with Q James does say he thinks the band might have ended up going their seperate ways because of the pull of Richey wanting darker stuff and James wanting more melody so I think that does mean that EMG would have been more or less as it is because that was the direction it was going. Richey listened to Small Black Flowers before he disappeared. Each to their own of course, if you didn't like Truth, Lifeblood etc you're probably not going to get into them again. They're the most important band for me by miles. ps - Will be checking out the new stuff by Idlewild!
  5. Which songs are gash? The new ones are all lyrics by Richey that he left to the band! So his lyrics are 'sixth form' or whatever then? I wish people would check their facts before spouting off, no offence. I've heard Peeled Apples and love it, am holding out for the album itself when it comes out on the 18th. James might have said that about EMG but really I don't think it would have ended up too far removed from what it is now because James would have had the final say on the sound. The new album was produced by Steve Albini so it is what he has 'directed' so to speak, whether you think it sounds like his work or not. Can't wait to hear the whole of JFPL live! It is going to be awesome!
  6. As some people have said before, even if Richey hadn't disappeared the sound for Everything Must Go wouldn't have been any different from what it is now. Fair enough if you prefer heavier sounding stuff but I don't have a problem with both the heavier sound of The Bible and the rock/pop of EMG. I wouldn't want 9 albums that all sounded like THB! Prefer variety myself!
  7. How could anyone hate EMG? Anyway, yeah, like what John Niven has written for his piece about the album.
  8. Got my ticket for Wolverhampton so am chuffed to bits about that! Don't know why people beat themselves up for not being into a band anymore. Some fans come, some go, others stick with it, doesn't really matter. Everyone has different tastes. Love Peeled Apples but want to wait for the album to come out before I hear the rest of it!
  9. I AM attending the Manics gig in Wolverhampton on 1st June. Woohoo! Can't wait!
  10. They're also playing Oxygen Festival over the same weekend and it looks like Journal For Plague Lovers will be the title of the new album, but Nicky may change it at the last minute so you never know!
  11. Sorry, meant if they play T In The Park again. They usually have Scottish dates somewhere in their tours. I'm getting so excited about the new album though, May feels ages away though!
  12. I'm not going up to Scotland to see them, sorry! Maybe one year if they ever play it again!
  13. They got banned for swearing and breaking a light or something? The mighty have not fallen just because they're alongside Glasvegas, I think it will be an excellent couple of sets myself. Don't have to be on the mainstage all the time, the Manics have done that loads of times anyway. Might help them reach different people who might not have been interested in them before so all good in my book. The Manics do have a habit of stealing the thunder of the headliners when they're a little bit further down the bill so look out Snow Patrol!
  14. The ban has been lifted! Hurrah! They will be joint headliners with Glasvegas on the King Tut stage according to www.manics.co.uk. Great stuff! The new album is also due for release in May so am really looking forward to that!
  15. Was crushingly disappointed with Radioheads In Rainbows. Prehaps need to give it another listen. Wasn't particularly disappointed with them but Athlete were the most excruciatingly boring act I've ever had the disservice of seeing live. Thank goodness for Boy Kill Boy!
  16. Love this record! Great songs on it. Waverly Steps is one of my faves on it.
  17. Dark Light Daybreak by Now It's Overhead NOW IT'S OVERHEAD
  18. Manic Street Preachers The Clash Echo & The Bunnymen Electric Light Orchestra Rush The Flaming Lips Idlewild Blondie Boards O f Canada Radiohead
  19. Question and Answer interview with James and Nicky now on the REPEAT fanzine website boys and girls!
  20. It's their last record with Sony so it won't really matter either way. They know us long term fans are gonna buy it and I think some of the newer fans are gonna be intrigued enough to check it out too. Someone said earlier about them not gaining newer fans now they're older but they have. Alot of younger fans out there.
  21. Yeah, not sure how they will go about the promotion with this album. It sounds like they are getting themselves fired up for their tour dates in Asia which should be amazing gigs. Looking forward to seeing any pics or short vids of them posted on the internet.
  22. Each to their own and all that, but the Manics will always be my favourite band and they haven't disappointed me yet. Can't imagine listening to SATT and not enjoying it but there you go! JDB - Best voice in the business. Hope the No Manifestos documentary will be released on DVD at some point cos I'm itching to see it now! Always appreciated the fact that Scotland has had a fondness for them over the years, even if they did get banned from T In The Park which I still find a bit bizzarre!
