  6. Hey, We're playing some crisp groove metal friday night. Not sure who else is playing, feel free to post here:up: Doug
  7. you are going to be a ruined man onstage after your bday night out the tonight boy! this will be our final gig of 2010, come support us if your in town!
  8. we are looking forward to this gig, on the back of an edinburgh performance last weekend! at least one new song to debut at the moorings!
  9. yeah really enjoyed it despite no turn - out everyone still put ona good show. not sure the 16year olds next door agreed... we would be up for doing another gig like this again. 8-)
  10. his drumming is brilliant, he totally blew the other guys in the band away last night. prob does every night tho to be fair. i agree the solo wasnt special, but think he has amazing snare drum technique going on and like the whole dance style solo which you dont see so much. very tommy lee inspired with all the upside down stuff.
  11. Hey, I just think if The Moorings format was followed, it would be a bit more successful. The Moorings organise bands months in advance and produce quality posters that look really cool and are plastered eveywhere. Drummonds is in an ideal location for bands, so it could clearly capitalise on this location and make more money. Its disappointing, if it is true, to hear that people can walk in free. Thats piss poor management and can be sorted. Tunnels is in a really shit location therefore NEEDS TO BE advertised otherwise noone will know apart from the bands and ppl who visit aberdeen music will turn up. Easy for me to say, i dont have to organise this, but I do practise with my band all the time so it is miles better knowing who your playing with and having an idea if it will be busy. Pretty much 75% time i know a drummonds or tunnels gig will be dead, but its really good fun playing live and great practise and i enjoy seeing other bands so its cool i guess. Also Drummonds and Tunnels need a maintenance guy for the drums just to keep on top of tuning, heads, the actual gear, simple things like, cymbal sleeves to protect (expensive) cymbals, and then to recommend if new equipment is needed. I dont know who does the moorings, but that kit seems to be in a stable condition everytime so its obviously looked after to a degree - good work. maybe employ this person?! Anyway, thats my rant. Doug
  12. recommend these Advanced Communication Solutions - ER-20? Universal Protectors i use em for practise/live.
  13. yeah it was a good night, and so glad to finally get playing with similar style muscians!!! i initially thought deathwatch werent my cup o tea but by final song i was well impressed, really liked that sound then bassist and guitarist were getting, not sure if thats the "epic" song your talking about but certainly sounded it. eternal idol were as kickass as i remember (think we played few months back in cafe drummonds?) anyway yeah u's are very entertaining to watch also, good stage presence! unfort i cudnt stay around to see last act. sorry dudes.
  14. that does look like an epic night, should be busy n that. esp if it gets promotion it deserves!!!
  15. cool thread..i moved to aberdeen in 2007 only...but found the shop straight away. think it was Dream Theaters - Live Scenes from New York (3 CD) as i had the DVD, but knew the cds contained loads of other tracks not included on dvd.
  16. Hey min, yeah they were mint! Aye maybe I was a bit harsh there, its only from my experiences there though. Im not sure who was promoting it. The only reason I noticed they were playing is coz I was checking my band was advertised (for tonight) and a noticed them, ma flatmate kens them cause o the Fife connection so it was luck really. So saying that I have seen the flyers in Cappy Toms since aswell. Whits best nights to play in aberdeen? Iguess once the students are back things will get busier midweek too.
  17. Healthy Minds Collapse (HMC), fae Fife and fresh from their appearances at T in the Park and Wickerman Festival, stopped by Aberdeen last night on their current tour. They had to play to a (typically) disappointing crowd size at Tunnels, but put on a full on blistering and sweaty performance. This was the first time id seen them and they manage to generate an amazingingly vast rock sound for a 3-peice, with the guitar and vocals being complimented spot on by the meaty sounding drums and bass. 8-) If only there was more bands in Abdn that sound like that! Check them out here before they do it massive! http://www.myspace.com/healthymindscollapse Apologies to support bands, who I did not manage to catch. If anyone did, post reviews here. Doug
