I wonder what ever became of Little Green? That was just JakeBassist pretending to be a female, right?

Jake's main present is one of the great Aberdeen Music memes.

I wasn't Little Green. I wish I was though. My old job was boring as fuck.

Best thing about Jake's main present meme was the fact you can tell he didn't even think twice about it, like it was totally normal for a grown adult to get one.

Still don't think twice about it. "main" was a substitute for "santa" when i grew out of believing. I'm still often asked what I want for xmas, implying that a main present will be bought. This year my main present from my parents was a pair of Stefan Janoski SB Nike Air Max's. Don't hate us 'cause you ain't us.

Also I'm sure it started out of a thread of me asking what I should get for my birthday. Which was just a badly worded way of saying "reccomend me films/music/books to see if there was anything out there I should cop, but knowing my birthday was round the corner, would be a waste of money for me to cop when I can get someone else to get it for me. (Case in point, two christmases ago while out shopping for other people, I bought myself the Stranger Things OST on vinyl and then found out my girlfriend spent the night hurriedly cancelling her order of the same thing)

Come from a family of great gift givers and traditions. Like when I was about 6/7, and still believed in Santa, I couldn't sleep for excitement. It got to the point where I was in tears because I was so tired. My parents let me open a present to calm me (if memory proves right, it was a Mankind wrestling video and some goosebump-esque books). From that moment on, every year my sister and I would be allowed to open a gift on xmas eve. Now, my mum makes "Christmas Eve Boxes" filled with stocking fillers - deodorant, holiday themed socks, chocolate etc and a dvd. She does them for my sister and I, my brother-in-law and my SO (ages ranging from 23-28) I also always get a gift from my dad. Now, my dad still spends money on gifts, but it's always up to my mum to buy them, so years ago he started gifts from just him where he'd find something we like. I'm sure the first one I ever got was LOTR: The Two Towers extended DVD. This year he got me Twin Peaks The Return blu-ray. Again, Don't hate us 'cause you ain't us.

The Real Football Factories, with Danny Dyer.

Put it on for a laugh. Ended up watching the whole season in one sitting. Dyer is excellent in it.

"Na then. We're off into this boozer 'ere to talk to some pwopa naughty geezers. 'Ave it"

Lots of cut scenes of him wearing his big parka, doing a cockney walk through run down housing estates. He uses the word "tear up" at least 10 times per episode.

    Pwopa naughty telly.

Watched this too. Well, the first episode, and the scotland one. Was actually pretty good. I was a lot more interested in the Fashion, and hearing from folk who have "retired". The people who are 50+ and still like "i'll still fight for no reason after a football game cuz i'm a hard man" made me cringe. More than Dyer did. And he's NAUGHTY.

I'm late to the Black Mirror party, but I'm totally on it now.

Except it's no party at all. I watch 2 or 3 at a time and then I can't feel feelings anymore. So bleak.

I can't go back. I really want to, but the Christmas Special fucked me up.

The Good Place - what a wonderful show. Ted Danson being cool older Ted Danson in hip new show a la Bored to Death. Kristen Bell being cute saying "Chidi". The whole package. Oh, also the story is pretty cool, and is strangely a more continuous story than other sitcoms. Loads of cool ethics stuff too. Comes from Michael Schur and I think that Fremulon has something to do with it (they make Brooklyn 99). Third season has been confirmed. I binged this in 3 days. All 2 seasons.

  4. Paul - It was on ITV2 the other week and I thought I'd leave it on since it's been a while since I saw it last. Not any of the cast's best work, but still pretty damn funny nonetheless. I also forgot all the folk they got to be in this. Jason Bateman, Jeffrey Tambor, Bill Hader, your friend Charles Boyle from work.

Get Out - This came on Sky movies. After a right faff with live pause and needing to download it from Sky Store to finish it, I finally got round to watching something that's been high on my list. Loved it. Every moment was perfect. TSA guy was surprisingly funny. I stupidly spoiled the ending by watching Honest Trailers etc. but it kind of worked out well in a way. My first watch felt like my second, and my second (I had to show my gf and parents it) felt like my third. Since I knew what would eventually happen, I could spot all the little bits of foreshadowing and meaning behind a lot of scenes.

  5. Got a couple books for xmas. Spot the theme.

Twin Peaks: The Final Dossier - Good read. Would have preferred more files like the first book, but this was admittedly a lot easier to read. Managed to tie up a few lose ends of Twin Peaks The Return left us with, yet posited more questions and confused me even more.

The Secret Diary  of Laura Palmer - This has been very very sad. sad/10

  6. MAJOR SPOILERS FOR ALL

seriously don't read if you don't want quite up to date spoilers.

DC Universe: Batman, Metal, Doomsday Clock

Okay, so straight off, Batman's romance is fantastic. The little arc with those two plus Superman and Lois is hilarious. Strongly Recommend (I'm sure from about issue 24 it really ramps up. Before War of Jokes & Riddles though). Metal has been kind of all over the place. I didn't get the tie in's till xmas (not main present), so it's been quite confusing. But other titles, i've picked back up from a new arc and understood a lot easier. Doomsday Clock is good. Well, I assume it's good, I've only actually seen the Watchmen film. But it seems pretty decent. Been pretty slow but then again it's only 2 issues in out of 12. Anyone got any Watchmen issues they wanna sell me?

Marvel : All-New Wolverine, Old Man Logan, Legacy, Jessica Jones, Hulk

All-New Wolverine I picked back up at the new Legacy Arc, It's been pretty damn good. But, and this is a

***major spoiler*** but a big death at then end of the last issue has me scratching my head. Completely unrelated Old Man Logan's Legacy Arc has him in Japan again. Again, I haven't read the original, but I'm enjoying this as I've been told his arc's in Japan are v. good. Legacy, wow, I had fuck all idea what was going on, I do know who returned. Just let me say there's been a return. Jessica Jones has been really great, and relatively grounded. The entire run has been pretty great. Hulk is along the same lines of being quite grounded at times but I mean, she does Hulk out so it does get more cartoon than Jessica Jones. But I Love this, and it has it's really funny moments too. Hulk has went to from at times funny arc about the youtube chef poisoned with a drug that turns him in to a like, mutant Hulk thing. Her Legacy arc has been a little more mind bending at times.

Image: The Walking Dead, Royal City,

Walking Dead has been... I don't know. Got last volume on my Birthday and I've already forgotten. Probably better than the current TV series though. Royal City has been pretty amazing. Written by Jeff Lemire (Old Man Logan, Thanos), It's been pretty great. V. sad at times. He also does the art, so the art style is really cool. Newest arc has had a time shift to before "everything" happened. Each Issue has a 90's Album inspired variant, and normally come with a little note along with a 90's music inspired spotify playlist he listened to whilst working on it. Pretty Fantastic all round. Also he's away to team up with Andreas Sorrentino (Art on Lemire's OML run) on something for image soon too, apparently.

  7. L.A. Noire - Very much feels like a ps3 game. But I do enjoy the story and it was on sale, plus my gf really enjoys games like Telltale Games or Until Dawn so I thought she'd enjoy it too.

GTA V - Started the story again. The driving mechanics (or lack of) in L.A. Noire had me pining for GTA. Plus now there's a Blonded radio station. Driving around Los Santos listening to Frank Ocean - Ivy is all I ever wanted in a game.

My gf just got Sims 4. So I'll probably get stuck in to that too. Rooms without doors and pools without ladders and that.

  8. Pre-ordering records, only to have to wait longer than I would have if I just bought it when it came out.

Pre-ordered Tyler, The Creator's Scum Fuck Flower Boy in JULY. People in America have only just started getting theirs. Sure, its apparently a nice pressing, but I could have the black one delivered tomorrow with Amazon Prime.

Also ordered Listener's Being Empty Being Filled Vol 2. There was a delay and I could offered to order Vol 3 and combine postage. Did that. Was supposed to be sent out on 16th Nov. No record, no reply to emails.

I've been slogging away with the Cleansing the Commonwealth type missons for a while now, avoiding the storyline....

Trying to keep on top of all my settlements, bu tone day I'm just going to fucking burn them all down and murder everyone in their sleep for being such useless cunts.

My game broke. As in, I spent ages doing side quests, slogging away too, and I ended up collecting loads of connecting holotapes. Googled them, turns out they're part of a Nick Valentine quest. Cool. Go to get him, he's not at my main settlement. Okay, cool, he might be in his office. Nope. Oh, I was doing that mission with him a while ago, he might be there. No. So, I go to every settlement and build a bell to ring so they all come. Do it at every one, and he's not at any. I looked online, it can happen often, and only people that found him were people on PC or Xbox with a Mod. He is always in a random place, and sometimes stuck. I couldn't find the Mod on PS4, gave up. Really wanted to get the DLC, but he's a big part of it. So, just abandoned it. I don't want to start a new game because I'll never be as lucky as I was when I started my current save.

  10. Watched Jim and Andy, fantastic watch. Loved Man on The Moon, and this seems like a must watch for anyone else who does.

I didn't know exactly what effect the digital age really had on the analogue recording industry, to the point that some of the biggest reel to reel tape manufacturers went bust. Crazy.

Yeah but, lowered noise floor and anyone can have a studio.
You can still record to tape, but a 20 min tape will set you back a few hunner.

  11. I find that there's a lot of comedic actors who have real acting chops but take very "easy" roles and they never seem to understand the law of diminishing returns.

Adam Sandler is another actor who does terrible comedies yet can do some really good dramatic acting when he needs to. Jim Carrey's last few films were dire, but Man On The Moon and Truman Show and even Cable Guy show how great an actor he really is.

agreed, utter shite. I get they were trying to build up 11s transformation but it didnt work. the main points of it could have easily been a truncated storyline in another episode. As for those 'punks' ..gads min

I think that it was supposed to be an homage to gangs in those 80s films like The Lost Boys etc. that turned out more like a parody. And not a good parody, a Wayans Bro's affair.

It had some major points that needed exploring, but it was just so cringey and too close to a Heroes episode. A Heroes season 3 episode.

I started doing a podcast with a friend. Have been using an old zoom H2 recorder which isn't ideal. The sound quality is just impossible to maintain between two people. It's a nice little mic/recorder but for podcasting it just won't do. Therefore, I just purchased 2 Audio Technica mics (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004QJOZS4/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1)  which from my research are supposed to be ace. I'll prob just plug them both into USB ports and record two tracks in garage band or whatever. However, I figured there would be a way to record two audio tracks onto my iPhone easy enough. Turns out there isn't. Or at least I just can't find a good way.

Question: anyone know the best way to plug two mics into an iPhone?

This mic has USB or XLR. I found this thingy which looks decent (albeit overpriced for what is essentially an adaptor) but it's just one input: https://www.rode.com/ixlr. Wondering if there's a product out there that has:

    - phantom power (drawn from the phone or a battery, doesn't matter)

    - 2 xlr inputs

    - and/or 2 usb inputs

    - that connects to an iPhone

This hingy looks like it fits the bill but i'm wondering if there's maybe a cheaper alternative i'm missing because I only need it to record basic voice tracks. Although maybe that's not important

have you got a laptop? I'd ditch the phone idea and get a focusrite or something for cheaper.
