Pot kettle black? You're a right wee tosser, aren't you?

  2. Aberdeen will play Real Sociedad if they get past Groningen in the Europa League. Huge tie. Sociedad are a very good side.

It's been quite an unkind draw in terms of the level of quality Aberdeen have been put up against this year. I understand Riga weren't very good, but it'll be tough to get past Groningen and Sociedad are probably one of the tournament favourites I imagine. This is the kind of tie I would be delighted to get in the group, but I don't see us getting there.

  3. Does it piss all over <insert other brand of guitar>?

Yeah, of course it does. Anybody that has a different taste in instrument is wrong.

I had one not long ago Daryl in limited edition rosewood with the et pickup system fitted. Sounds fantastic and now love the size too. And I'm a big guy. Looks like I am playing a ukulele.

Size didn't bother me, it's only for picking up and playing when I'm at home (every other acoustic I've owned has been shite and for that reason never got played). Doubt I'll ever take it to the stage, but because it sounds so good I wouldn't have a problem in doing so should an acoustic track ever happen.

  4. Aberdeen Vs Groningen on Thursday is now ticket only so Pittodrie will be heaving, I missed the Riga tie so really looking forward to this one.

Groningen also play in a 22,000 capacity stadium, but theirs is a two tiered oval and looks considerably better than Pittodrie. They've also spent about 2.5 million Euros this transfer window, so the investment in their team is considerably more than what Aberdeen can afford. It'll be a really tough tie but I'm confident about going through, although this lot were in good form towards the end of last season and were undefeated in their final 10 matches.

  5. Goodwillie's confidence probably took a dent due to not being automatic first pick up front,; with Jon Daly leaving the club he probably expected this to be the case. I understand you have to have to prove yourself in training before getting a chance on a Saturday, but Goodwillie probably felt he was going to walk into the team and the club booted him as soon as they were given the opportunity (might have been down to poor attitude...who knows.) Nadir Ciftci had a great season last year, and there was no way he was getting dropped to allow Goodwillie some game time.

I'm looking forward to seeing how he develops under McInnes, and if we get 15 goals out of him this year then it'll be a good season I reckon. Bearing in mind that IF Aberdeen reach the Europa League group stages and get a decent run in both domestic cups, it'll be a 60 game season at least; he's not a bad option to replace Adam Rooney and might even become the preferred option if he proves himself.  Definitely glad he's only signed a 1 year deal though.

  6. I was tinkering about on my sitar the other night when I got a text from a friend to tell me he had finished building his cigar box guitar that he had been working on over the past few weeks. He said that it sounded great and that he was going to try and make another one in the near future. It then occurred to me that between the two of us we own a couple of instruments that are certainly not the most conventional that you are likely to find in the North East of Scotland.

It got me thinking that there must been an array of weird and wonderful musical instruments owned by the people on this forum. So post about your obscure instruments in this thread (pictures are obviously encouraged!).

Apologies if this thread or something similar already exists, I know there's a 'your gear' thread but thought this topic would merit it's own.

I'll post pics of my sitar later on; she's a beauty. My flatmate used to have an old hammond organ that I played a fair bit, and I have an accordian from the 1940's lying around in my loft somewhere.

  7. Using downstairs for a school aged gig would be a complete waste of time. How many teenagers want to go to a gig with their parents?

Make it a school event, like a replacement for your regular Friday night disco or whatever and hold it in the hall as you've stated above. Are there any bands in your school? Get a couple of them involved and you'll be sorted.

We did a couple of these back in the day, and in reflection we had some pretty big audiences. If you can get it promoted properly through your school assemblies etc then you can't fail.

  8. This will be tough for Liverpool, I bet he was looking forward to sinking his teeth into the new season  He'll be chomping at the bit to get going by the time his ban is up.

    Sorry.

  9. The English red tops have been playing it up like they've just never known he was good.  We knew he was good but needed experience and he had a really good year in Greece before the WC started.

He only got his work permit last July so the loans before the last one all had to be done.  He'll be a good rotation option next year and all the cup games I'd imagine.

Yeah he impressed me in the CL against Man Utd, literally hadn't heard of him before that.

He's likely to get chances, particularly when he'll be challenging the glass legged duo of Walcott and Oxlaide-Chamberlain

  10. Does anybody know where people get their synth stuff from? Surely it's not all done on a synthesiser keyboard?

I get my 'synth stuff' online. There are various synth applications you can download and use on your desktop. But yeah, it can all be done on a synthesiser keyboard. Even budget synths like MicroKorgs are extremely versatile.

What were your motives for this post? Are you interested in experimenting with synth sounds or just curious as to how the they are achieved?

I've also just noticed your other point about 'unique sounds'; you can achieve completely unique sounds through sampling (record audio through a mic, or your phone or whatever) then load them into a form of sampling software and fuck around with it until your heart is content.

Basically there are tonnes of ways to create electronic music. If in doubt, just google/youtube it. You'll find out way more doing it that way than looking for opinions on here, as there are literally 1000s of youtube videos that show you how to use various forms of software/hardware.
