at the start of the year i would have said edgar prais, but the early hype didn't seem to come to much.......despite this i must admit they were brilliant at t in the park. probably copy haho because of their progress and support slots they landed at the end of the year (eg hot club de paris, los campesinos and dananananakroyd)

haha, and most of that is just Paddy
HAHAHAAAHAHAHAHAAHAHA! its a good thing he doesn't come on here......

Hey Folks!
Just posting to let everyone know that we're releasing our first single "Helena" on the 17th January 2009.
On that date we are playing a "Dirty Disco" night with Short Notice, Rodan, The Locals and a "surprise guest dj".
This gig is also acting as our single launch.
Check out the track, it's up on our myspace: MySpace.com - The Marionettes - New Single Helena out 17th Jan! - Aberdeen, UK - Alternative / Indie / Melodramatic Popular Song - www.myspace.com/themarionettes
It will be availble to buy online through myspace, in oneup records, from ourselves at gigs and possibly to download from i-tunes.
Price is yet to be confirmed but it won't be anything ridiculous!
Thanks
Paddy, Daryl, Andrew and Derek

Christy that isn't us! He's on about some gash glam rock band called "Marionette", they existed in the 80's..........and he's quite right to say they are dreadful. But if anyone fancies checking out MySpace.com - The Marionettes - Aberdeen, UK - Alternative / Indie / Melodramatic Popular Song - www.myspace.com/themarionettes criticism can then be accepted!.
-
haha christ no we're nothing like them!!

Late at the Lemon tree begins next week starting on the 31st of July running for over a week, it is also part of the Aberdeen International Youth Festival. It is a good opportunity for young bands to perform in a venue such as the Lemon tree as well as playing with many out of town bands coming to play in the North East.
Some of the local bands featured are:
The Elizabeths
Cast of the Capital
The Marionettes (on the 1st of August not the 2nd)
Toy
Headlight
The Little Kicks
Static in the City
Some of these bands are on different days, so go to the Lemon Tree web-site to check out the programme for the week.
THE LEMON TREE : Productions : AIYF-Later....at the Lemon Tree
Hope to See some of you there!

good tune
I like the track by "The Fire and I", but guys you just have to listen to "138" by "The Marionettes", that riff is just so damn catchy, definitley going to see them some time soon.

I am into loads of different types of music givemeasmile. I am simply trying to say that these battle of the bands sometimes do not reflect what has happened on stage. This is not the first time I have seen it, and have seen it happen to a greater extent before. I do prefer heavier music compared to a lot of the indie/pop bands that aberdeen has to offer, but that is only an opinion as i'm sure you have a preferred type of music.
soundo like

battle of the bands
to be honest i'm quite sick of people being so narrow minded, the fact that you are simply sticking to watching rock bands at the moorings shows that you are only open to one type of music. i was there and on the night the marionettes and zero the fool were both good but to make direct comparisons between the two i feel it simply came who played the tightest performance. the marionettes certainly weren't and aren't "dull as dishwater" and they put on a bloody good live show. I'm all for Zero the Fool they are a good band, but as are the Marionettes - and to say the competition was a fix is a bit of a joke to be honest.

Orangeact must be doing something right if Tommy Reilly and Hip Parade played a sold out gig together at the ABC 2, not sure if that would have happened had the show not existed.
