  1. Clueless

it's a headless bass' date=' tiny makes it sound like a pretend bass, i bought it for playing around john "i'm a star" bone at the conti on saturday afternoons. it's ace!

Hi Bri, it was a long time ago since the days of jamming along wi george and pedro!

i had an interesting read of biz's little rant. (glue sniffin biz, dont worry mate, 20 odd years down the line and i still think it fucked my brain, not that i ever inhaled of course!!) Biz's view isnt the view of all 16 again. i liked oasis and would like to hear some of their older songs played in a pub by a live band when i'm pished. Bri, keep doin what your doin cause you cant get enough live 'guitar' bands play the circuit, it beats listening to a backing track and a kareoke singer or two.[/quote']

Why did you buy a headless...no room onstage for another head onceJB was there as well?

"it was a long time ago since the days of jamming along wi george and pedro!"

I was talking to Willie last time I was home. He'sin Inverurie working in a fibreglass workshop. I've not seen G since he nearly killed me by showing off in his car!!!

  2. Not a real job then!!

Involves working for Oasis' date=' Ian Brown, and other acts I'd rather not mention, but at least I got to handle Clem Burke fae Blondie and Mel Gaynor and Zak Starkeys (superextortionately priced Drum Workshop) drumkits... drool,

Britheguy---I thought you worked in 'Mikes famous chip shop' I must have got my batters mixed up.

as for gigs wi you guys, I would rather we support you so we don't have to take so much gear, and we can relax and watch you guys over a pint or 2 and we wouldn't have to set up and soundcheck first or organise PA and venue and posters tickets advertising etc...yeah bring on the 16again support slot how about fancy dress with a theme?.

what's this Biz? soundcheck, pa, tickets!!! It's a plug and play for us...real Rock an Roll. No fancy on stage monitors etc with us.....Welcome to the real world!!!!

    Ska night looks good though;)

  3. High horse

    Hi Biz.

I think you hit it on the nail. You guys a punk tribute band, and a quite good one as well, or I would'nt be listening to you waffle on.

We on the other hand a pub covers band. I'm sure CCR or Free etc, didn't jump down the throat of every band like Life and Soul, Ginger etc, just becuase they were not note for note correct. (I'm sure they were though)

You said you spent money seeing bands....we've all done that, hell I've seen rockstars turn in shite sets on more than one occasion.

Glue sniffing is not big and not clever, I preferred mushrooms.

As for a support act....I think you got that wrong, we were asking to slot in with you, and I'm sure we could manage a set with no Oasis in it, unless you asked for some. Dull....I don't think so, right time right place...without doubt. Lucky Bar$tards no question. Back to my dull day job for me.

NOTE: you don't need to pay to see us

    Rock on Billy Boy!!!

  4. Thanks for the support eelpie!!

I've heard Biz's band(s) past and present and have always thought they were good bands. Each person is allowed his or her own view. Although his band is not doing a world tour, they are worth seeing...I just keep missing them due to work!!!

Everyone is allowed a rant now again, and Biz is no exception, although he does sometimes have more to rant about than most others.

  5. Your band make a mockery of what being in a band is about' date='listen to the records/injest the information/rehearse again and again THEN gig,I spend a lot of time learning songs and it does not do the bands/songs/music any justice to be played in such a haphazard amateurish way,it may be a laugh to you BUT it cheapens what I DO, so please IF YOU MUST PLAY PUNK ROCK do it justice and do not incorporate namby pamy shite in the same set as decent punk rock,FUCK ME Oasis!, fine, play that shite badly, but please do not murder the decent punk rock songs I love,I am pissed, but even in this state of inebriation I would not encourage folk to pay,let alone travel to see good songs played badly.[/quote']

Thank you for your input. Stuff like this will help us improve our skills, and will surely inhance our future performances.

I hope you get over your hang over.

  6. Aye Biz, alas we do play two Oasis songs, but hey! they're harder to play than some of the punk stuff we do, but that just might be my limited playing skills....I'll not give up my day job just in case.

As for the drumming....well what can I say? We don't get to hung up on being perfect, because we would fail, but we do try to have a good time, which we succede in doing, and 95% (at least) folk don't notice the few flat notes, mucked up lead runs or a missing crash or ride cymbal etc.

    You coming on the 11th?

  7. It would be great if you came along, bring some of the 16again folk as well. How's Dave, I played with him years ago with George Cameron etc. Before his 'Ego has landed!' stint

What's the name of your ska band? I'd like to come along to that. I was in Drummand last week and saw Short Notice...pretty good stuff. Badge and 28 as well. Enjoyed it.

wah wah......not sure! I use it on a few songs, but an auto wah would be no good as I use it to texture stuff....if you know what I mean

  8. Another question........is it possible to get a power bank thing you can fill with batteries?? (I know it sounds stupid' date=' but it's for going abroad, and avoiding carting mains adaptors etc

Also....IF playing abroad, is it safe to use mains adaptors onstage (eg UK to US ones).

    Sorry for butting in, Spoonie![/quote']

If playing abroad, I think it would be even more important to have a circuit breaker in line. I've seen whole PA's frazzled due to power surges. Be warned!

  9. Cracking night even though I couldn't stay to see all the bands. To see bands I saw for 2 quid.......bargain!!

Short Notice were really good. It was the first time I've seen them, but I would go to see them again without a doubt. The double bass player wearing the shades...classic!

Badge. Also a first for me, though I've known Alan for a while now. Good power and the songs were well played.

    28. I've seen these guys a few times now. Ryans riffing, to me anyway, is ace.

Sorry I had to miss the rest of the night, maybe next time.

  10. Ha ha ha ha ha I ain't laughed so much in years.

I got front row tickets to the Fast Show and even THEY did not raise as much chuckles as Ian.

Top band' date='(nae the sort of stuff I'd buy or listen to again), but it was an emperors new clothes scenario, with Ian producing the most absurd off key vocal sounds I have EVER heard,(bear in mind I have seen 20 zillion acts) and the fact that Ian makes a living as a singer is absurd,he he he he he, it cheered me up no end .

I also have had the misfortune of witnessing Mr potato face Jim (formerly Jaun) Kerr at the Music hall, but despite the piggy eyes and King Edward like features, it must be said that Jim really CAN sing, but once more I couldn't give a toss if I never heard Simple Minds again....ach go on then, as lang as it's I travel.

Belle and Sebastian are equally unnoteworthy, seemingly playing the same song for ever.

It's no wonder there seems to be a downturn in good bands when seemingly all the MTV channels and most radio stations play forgettable pish...where's the new Sex Pistols? where's the new Prodigy? probably setting up gear for some mince like Coldplay or James Blunt, bring back Atom Flask, Gatechien,The Screamin Stukas...let the new kids be inspired to make music fun instead of safe namby pamby careerist shite REVOLT NOW.[/quote']

Too right. I saw him at T in the Park...walked out 2.5 songs in. thought it would be better to get a drop on the rest of the traffic than listen to off key (I wouldn't be that kind) rubbish. FTPS!

  11. I agree with some of the guys above. In some cases less is more.

I've had the same problem in the past. Now I start with low gain settings and push them up until I get the sound I'm looking for (don't always get it, you know how it is;))

If you use other pedals try moving them around in the chain. I have a Moonrock and a Zvex SHO, when I used they together it was terrible. Took either out and it was bliss again.

  12. Definately fuzz' date=' i've got an Overdrive pedal that does the trick already.

With my O-D pedal there's a massive sound level difference between playing Power/Barre chrods and single notes / string riffs. Just something that could minimise this would be good.[/quote']

A Wyllie Moonrock. It sounds great for dist and fuzz
