  1. I dread to think who may reply to this, but y'never know... I might hit a winner.

I play guitar (fender strat single coils mostly), and I'm a pretty decent singer.

I can play a variety of stuff, ranging from gypsy jazz acoustic to nice crunchy riffage. I'm not speedy on the lead, but I'm not into churning out thrash metal anyway.

The sort of band I'd be into joining would be at least in part influenced by any of the following: (international) Noise Conspiracy, Tom Waits, Death Cab For Cutie, Dinosaur Jr, Echo and the Bunnymen, Crash test Dummies, Polyphonic Spree, Sublime, Elvis Costello, Rufio, Jetplane Landing, Nightmare of You, Rancid.

(Don't get me wrong, I like many other styles of music. This is just the kind of stuff I'd be interested in playing right now).

Ideally I'd want to join a band that's already formed and slightly experienced. I've had a spot of bad luck with forming bands lately, and need someone else taking the reins for a change.

More personal information: I'm 19, an English Lit student (lots of time on my hands), live in Aberdeen 100% of the year pretty much.

Any other questions, give us a quick bell. Cheers :gringo:

  2. I was listening to Radio Scotland talking about the ol' exam results in the car this morning. Glad I've not got to go through all that again... for some reason Uni results are nowhere near as nerve racking.

On another point, my sister did amazingly in her highers, therefore I hate her.

  3. Both your guesses are wrong. But Boyd is a dick. And he does get married.

    Oiii, spoiling it, eh?

Bree becoming a goth... shudder. That means her wee tart of a boyfriend is going to follow suit because he's an impressionable little bollocks.

  4. Phone up Joan Thomas at the North East of Scotland Music School - 01224 649685

She should be able to advise if the piano tutors at the school would suit you or at least give you some names of those in the city.

Haha, would that not be a little bit cheeky?

  5. I have been looking about for a piano teacher.

Only one I really found close by was 'Ronald Leith Piano Tuition', which is just around the corner.

Anybody had any experience of him? Would he be able to teach Jazz and Blues above Classical stuff?

Otherwise, any other suggestions for teachers? I'm at a bit of a loss.

  6. Legalising drugs would keep prices down, meaning less mugging and robbery to feed habits, and generally making the position of drug dealer obsolete. If somebody wants drugs under the current laws, it's really not that hard to get 'em illegally anyway. Might as well just keep them sensibley regulated.

Also, to (near) quote Renton from Trainspotting: "We'd take vitamin C if they made it illegal."

If something's not allowed, it gets a certain romanticism assosciated with it... forbidden love and all that. With people free to make their own choice, it's quite likely that they would choose the chance to stay clean. In another bullet point, the hemp trade would also be free to sell all natural, very useful items. 'Course, this is mere speculation, and it could all go the completely opposite way if brought into effect: Junkies scattering the streets... Pete Doherty being forced to start eating sherbet fountains in a bid to grab headlines... Tesco being short staffed due to exhaustion from filling up the cheap sweets so frequently, as stoned teenagers queue out the door for a munchies fix.

Outlawing religion... difficult. Maybe organized religion... but what would happen to the Vatican's Nazi Gold? Give it to Bernardos?

  7. i have a sony w800i mobile and have had no problems with it at all. people complain about the software but the software is also a piece of piss to use and again has given me no problems. just thought id speak up and defend sony mobile phones because ive had one for about 3 years and they are fucking ace. sonic stage is also a bit tedious but ive used it for years and once you work out its quirks it works just fine and i find its very reliable.

The w800i's been around for three years? o_O I think you're talking a pile of shit.

I woulda defended my choice of phone too until it started going head over tit. It's a very good phone with lots of bells and whistles, but It's giving me a fair bit of grief at the moment.
