  1. Old Git Drummers Are usually the Best Red, Go to "Souled Asylum" into the breaking news section. The engines of the old jumbo soul machine are rumbling, but any take off will depend on getting a solid reliable technically competent stick man onto the stool. Yours truly is another old git from Westhill ( and NE England ) Have a look and drop me line via the website. Mike
  2. Lemon Tree Sound Left Me Flat Mike, Ah yes......the Lemon Tree gig. Quite frankly we were not overly impressed with the quality of the mix or overall sound from the venue system on that gig. The bass guitar was DI'd straight into the house desk and into the FOH mix so the Schroeder was used for stage monitoring only. All because of a bit of hissing ( typical of Ampeg pre-amps ) Our own PA Nexo/Turbosound kicks arse on the bottom end and in our view leaves the Lemon Tree FOH for dead. I used the Schroeder at Montrose and will also use it tonight at Newtonhill, and thru our system it is awesome. Neil sends his regards. Mike
  3. Another Wise Bassman Texjam, You made a wise decision when electing to switch to a Schroeder/QSC set up. . I changed over from a Warwick Terminator 1000w cab ( 2x15" bandpass and 2x10" with horn ) and Warwick then EBS top of the range bass amp, to a Schroeder 310212 driven by a QSC PL 2400 and Ampeg SVTPro pre-amp. The Schroeder set up just kicks arse. The tone thru the entire range is full and the bottom end is trouser flapping to say the least. Guitar is a Warwick Streamer 4 string thru neck circa 1996. Happy playing. SWR is a good set up and I can't imagine you should have trouble selling. Mike
  4. Line 6 Amp Hi, I'll give you 80 cash for your Line 6 amp on the basis that its in reasonable nick. Drop me a PM and we can arrange the deal. Gladly collect and handover cash during the week after work. Thanks Mike
  5. Bartered cash deal for SG Hi, No offence, but I'll offer 180 cash for the SG without seeing it on the basis that it is defect free. Its for a present to a special person. I can do the deal and give you the cash anytime. Have you got a hard case or gig bag that we could haggle over seperately ? PM me if this is of interest and appologies if the offer offends but ya don't get if ya don't ask. Mike
  6. Well Starsky I guess I am the lucky one. Our band has fingers Ken as the resident Hammond virtuoso and two more fellas in the horn section that play mean Hammond. They reckon the only music thats more fun than soul, is the sound of crisp twenties fluttering as the end of night divvy is palmed. !!! We are out and out soulmen ! As to Soundian, our soundman is so important to us especially at practises cos he is our ears and eyes as we rehearse new material and put right old stuff that we may have balls up at the previous gig. Like us he does it for the love and bearing in mind that even at rehearsals we use our own gear ( part of it that is ) we need all the hands we can get. The end result is total familiarity and continuity when we gig cos he knows when all the breaks are, and the sliders all end up being at the right place at the right time. 16-piece band dont forget. Got to go, at AECC tonight and looking forward to letting the PA ripppppp...... Thanks Mike
  7. If the thoughts of a 15k Nexo/Turbosound/Crown/Soundcraft PA and a 16-piece live kick arse band jiggle the pants, drop us a line. Our resident soundmand/techy/roadie is leaving in the agreeable future for personal reasons and we are on the tap for a replacement. The position is an inherent part of the bands set up and utter reliability is required. Band is self contained and nowt is hired in. Role includes attendance at weekly practises, and on gig days ( about twice a month ) gear load-in, set up, sound check, desk operation during gig, derig and load-out at the end. Sound like all downside, but there is a divvy and a chance to be a part of a local but pro set up playing some of the most desirable gigs available. You also need to be a Bob the Builder type with your own tool kit to fix things when they go walkabouts..... Music is all live from drums, Hammond C3, Njord Keyboard, 2 guitars, bass, 6 horns, 4 female singers and a male singer.......manage this lot and ya CV will shine !!!! Check us out at www.souledasylum.co.uk Not to everyones taste, granted but hey its bleeding good fun all the same. Thanks Mike:laughing:
  8. The Forum In-House System To the best of my knowledge you can only use the Forum in house sound system if you bring in a desk and sound engineer, and run your own snake to the power amps situated at stage right. The installed system is Bose and is tuned to the cavern of a room for DJ performances and not live bands. Iv'e heard it twice for live bands and it was bleeding aweful ! Every time we play there we drag in our own PA ( Nexo, Turbosound, Crown ) cos that way we are sure of a good sound. If you are showcasing bands, then give them a chance and bring in a decent PA with engineer. I would suggest at least 5k consisting of subs, mids and tops either stacked at each side of the stage or at floor level supported on plinths to get the height for throw. The Forum lights are fine. I am not sure that The Forum has a stage foldback system ( monitors ) Good luck with your event. Trannyvan
  9. Well its not really worth laying your life down for but you get the drift. Have you got a drum kit ? Is it a quality kit ? Do you have transport ? Can you commit to weekly rehearsals ? Do you wanna gig average twice month to crowds of 300 to 400 plus ? Are you keen to play old soul classics but in a hard hitting up and at em way ! Do you have good technical ability? Have you been playing at least 10-years? Would you be comfortable mixing with 5 horns, Hammond, Njord, 2 guitars, bass and 5 singers, all under the control of our resident sound man, lights man and tech man. Okay this is the deal........Souled Asylum drummer ( Simon Abbott ) is departing the area to move back to Australia at the end of the year. We need a replacement its as simple as that. Not everyones gig, but its a friggin blast playing gigs in a pro type environment. See the website www.souledasylum.co.uk for details of gear, photos of past gigs bla bla bla. Drop us a line Thanks Mike
  10. They tell me that the population of this wonderful litle city is circa 250k. They also reckon that 10% of this is female between the ages of 18 and 40. Of the 25k half are boyband fans. This leaves 12.5k out of which 50% are clubbing fans, 25% metal fans, 20% prefer line dancing and 4% just don't go out at all. This leaves according to my maths just 125 females with any taste at all !!! Statistics reckon that only a quarter of females can really hold a tune which means that we are left with 31 who can probably sing. This is so sad......... So to the 31 women who can sing, Souled Asylum is looking for a kick arse power female lead vocal to join the line up. Check out www.souledasylum.co.uk Dipsies, breadheads, dragon chasers et al stay away. You need nowt but talent but need to get on with 18 others who derive no greater pleasure than hearing the Nexo PA power up and rumble to classic dance floor fillers. Get in touch via website contact details Thanks for tuning in Mike
  11. FEmale Lead Vocals - Better Late Than Never Rachael, Check out www.souledasylum.co.uk We are looking for a kick arse power female lead vocal to join the existing line up. Get in touch via website contact details or the PM details. Mike
