Worst thread ever.
A warning to members of my band: post on this thread, and you'll never be a cog in another groove again
-
I'm actually devastated to find that the Brian Eno CD Another Green World has Phil Collins on it. I own it so am guilty by association.
And Talking Heads are guilty of associating with someone who associated with Phil Collins. I just don't know what's ideologically-sound anymore
-
Damn, Flying Matchstick Men were supporting? And they've played Aberdeen BEFORE?!! How did I miss this? They better come back and headline
-
Far from shite, all-in-all, I thought. Definitely the best show I've seen Dedalus give. I'm glad to see they've discovered da funk, and they've found some tunes as well. One in particular, with just a few lines repeated over-and-over, was the best song I've heard by a local band. If there is a recording available, and I'd part with my cash for it alone
: ( are great, as are any band who get a blonde girl and a dark girl on stage to do very little, if anything. Like the Human League in that respect. Fab.
I'm sorry to be down on a band with Phil in it, but Genevieve were horrible. They recalled Tigerfin and the Lorenzo Snow Collective and all those other rockers who don't consider playing Cafe Drummonds to be a degrading experience for any dignified human being. And swamp brown long sleeve t-shirts and baggy stonewash jeans is the worst uniform ever.
-
Did you go see them in the Tunnels? They were pretty good but i did prefer the rumble strips.
No! I think it was the same day as !Forward Russia!, which was rubbish, as they're now my two favourite bands

Death From Above 1979 - Little Girl
The Postal Service - Such Great Heights
Ladytron - Destroy Everything You Touch
Splendid tracks, all, but you're a bit behind the curve there, child.
Weekends and Bleak Days by The Young Knives it not just a "good tune" etc, it is THE MOST IMPORTANT SONG IN THE WORLD TODAY. EVERYONE NEEDS to hear it. NOW

The Mysterious Geographic Explorations of Jasper Morello (2005) - Anthony Lucas
That better win something
-
I saw it yesterday, and I thought after about the first hour or so that it was just another Frederik Forsyth-style thriller. But it got much better when the homeland versus family dilemma was introduced. I was glad that was its central theme, rather than moral dilemma of "an eye for an eye" which is a well-worn one.
When was the cheesy dialogue hinted at? I didn't notice

Great! S&D at the Lemon Tree and TITP were BAD, in the best possible sense
-
I like Fiction Action as a name, but drop the slash. Got it?

Haha is that the Chelsea defence?!
I know Westhill's not in town! I used to go swimming in Westhill (as much as I hated entering Westhill)!
Mourinho's description of the Tottenham defence . Come to think of it, Paul Robinson is almost as chunky as...nevermind
But, bus from Westhill to town + bus from town to Culter = 2 buses!
-
Would you have to get two buses to get to Culter? you can get a bus to Culter from town..
As it happens, Westhill isn't in town!
And what's with asking that other lot? Are you hoping for someone to embody the tactic Mourinho called "parking the bus infront of the goal"?
-
I'd be up for it, but it would take two buses to get there. And 11 o'clock is far too early for that!

ive always thought it strange that Artic Monkeys seem so unashamedly middle class. See the lyrics to A Certain Romance - basically an attack on working class/chav culture.
But doesn't he then say something like "but they're my friends", like he's acknowledging he belongs to that class, for better or worse? I haven't heard the song, but I'm sure that was quoted in the NME review
-
Lyrically they are the second coming of Jarvis Cocker and that at least is not a bad thing. Musically and aesthetically uninspiring though. And although the lyrics are decent I'm too middle class to really relate them.
And I've got too shit a connection to download their songs, apparently. Infact, most of their fans must be middle-class to do this. How working-class is it to have Broadband?
Still, they're a GOOD THING. Just not for people who think that the backing-track to a song is the be-all-and-end-all
-
Keira and Malc, I'm VERY disappointed with you both.
The standard of that insult-rally was sub-playground, at best. See me.
-
would you have known a Jimmy Shand lyric? you are scottish after all...
No, but I'd know a quote from a Peter Mullan film.
Actually, I wouldn't. Happily, I wasn't being entirely serious
-
Demon -> close ;]
incredibledisc -> correct
You're Polish, yes? My quote is from a film by a Polish director, yet you didn't get it. I'm not surprised you're fleeing
-
My favourite line from my favourite film: "I cough, I sweat, I have cavities. You'll get over me."
-
aye' date=' smart lad him[/quote']
He is, but he's also got animal instincts, like the rest of us. Even Nietzsche was ruled by the cock

Like I said on the Rakes thread:
If anyone has a ticket or several to sell, I will pay over the odds, i.e face value. Or maybe a smidge either sidePlease, thank you
-
My goodness.
AND it's sold out....
Now if only people bought tickets for shows quicker.
God damn cocksucking motherfucking world. If anyone has a ticket or several to sell, I will pay over the odds, i.e face value. Or maybe a smidge either side
-
..as i thought...
I'm still absolutely serious.
However Thee Comrades are a good bandI was gonna put Thee Comrades in, but I don't think they have enough of a novelty sound to make an impact, although their tunes are irresistible
-
I heard "Boys Will Be Boys" on the radio the other day, and I greeted it with a shrug of the shoulders. Then it was used on Shameless to soundtrack Lip and Ian getting ready for a night out, and it sounded thrilling
That gig on at the Tunnels tonight
