Hey folks, we're looking for a driver (aged 25+ and a clean license) for around 1 month of touring. This would include dates all over Scotland and around 10 dates in England. The dates required are July 17th to August 20th. If anyone is interested please let us know asap as we are off to Ireland next week and would like to get this sorted out before we go. We can come to some sort of financial agreement but it won't be particularly lucrative as the tour is very much DIY. If someone can only do part of it let us know anyway cos it might still be useful. For more details re. our tour check out www.myspace.com/theeupstarts
you can also contact us at upstarts@hotmail.co.uk
please help us if you can,
lots of love,
the upstarts

as the edinburgh date for babar and the king blues the night before their moorings show has fallen though' date=' the bands have asked to play a few extra tunes for you all. so expect a good 50 miutes or so from them each. nice one![/quote']
does that mean the doors are earlier than 9 now? also, are under 18s definitely welcome?

hey. cheers to everyone who helped out last with the stalls and all the bands that played, and everyone who came down. it was ace to see a good mix of people there, lots of folks interested in the stalls, and having a dance as well. we also raised over £150 for the earthquake appeal, just from the £1 entry and the very diy raffle.
so thanks again to everyone,
dave

well the whole idea of the thing is to be an awareness-raising type thing but if we can raise a bit of money then it's good. i think i'l get a raffle book and then if all the bands can donate a cd or record then we can have a one-prize raffle, 1pound entry, and that'd get a bit more. what d'ya think?

going to see this again tonight, partly so i can understand all the dialogue this time, and partly cos i really enjoyed it and it was free the first time i saw it.
can anyone recommend anything else that joseph gordon-levitt is in. i've seen mysterious skin as well and think he's excellent in both films. and obviously 10 ten things i hate about you is another post-modern classic...
fingers crossed for no da vinci code/MI3 trailers tonight!

hadn't really decided which charity to give the door money to but, after reading about it the last few days, have now decided to give it to Oxfam's Indonesian Earthquake Emergency Appeal.
hopefully see you there,
cheers

will there still be a raffle with spectacularly sexy prizes??
hehe, no, i decided against that in the end. i was worried there might be some repurcussions: like what if someone won the prize and then caught some kind of "exotic" disease? would i be responsible?

hey. i'm putting on a gig (fairtrade, local produce, general politcal/social issues awareness type thing) at the tunnels on the 31st - would be cool if you took down some flyers for your gig and i can give them out at the door. cheers.
-
hey. doors will now be at half 7, not 7. Make sure you get down early before all the free chocolate has gone! the free chocolate seems to be the biggest attraction so far: i am buying it myself so you know, eat something before you come to the gig. or u can always buy some from the 3rd world centre table if you want more! how convenient..
-
i'll be flyering for this tonight: if anyone wants to come and hold an umbrella above me i'll buy them a packet of frosties* or a freddo (its up to you)
*the 10p sweets; not the cereal
-
There was also gonna be a charity raffle, the "top"`prizes being:
One night with Maxi!
One night with Dave "Thurisaz"!
But I wasn't sure about the ethics of male prostitution, and also thought people might not buy tickets cos they'd be a little scared to win..

i think the question should be "what isn't urban railpunk?"

think we're just gonna go for it with this flyer now, we've mydumped it about and we'll get some out the next couple nights.
should be a good one!
-
aww, i think we should use "refuse to play the clash" in all our descriptions!
-
tonight people! i reckon the first band'll be on at quarter/twenty past seven cos the whole thing is finished by 10 - plenty of time to drink sensibly afterwards
-
it's a cornet actually, lol, ye that's me. i'll be flyering tonight, see u then
-
they're doing some of the supports for rx bandits but not in scotland. they dont seem to be playing drummonds either, there's other bands playing that night.
-

I saw the King Blues in London earlier this month and they are one of the best live bands i've seen. anyone who likes melodic music in any way should come see them. can't wait to see them again, and even better support them!
-

I'm putting on a gig at Tunnels on the 31st of May to help promote fair trade and local produce: gonna have loads of info and some goods for sale, so if people are interested in any of this kinda stuff they can find out more.
So far the bands confirmed are The Upstarts and The Planeteers and i'm waiting to hear back from a couple more, but there should be space for 1 or 2 more bands. If your band is interested in promoting fair trade or local issues and would like to play at the gig please let know: either PM me or through my webpage:

Cheers,
Dave

im sure kirk has ben cooking for touring bands for a while now' date=' im sure he has got the jist of it[/quote']
ye, he has ben dover of adult movie fame hidden away in his kitchen, constantly cooking.
Thought the gig was good tonight, really impressed with red lights flash, although i was quite upset to learn that their rider info was wrong: they're not vegan at all, all that soya spread gone to waste
