  1. Firstly im sick of everyone ripping apart all the advertisement sections with nasty and pointless arguments, the argument about large red font used in one of the adverts is pathetic. So i am dedicating this thread to all you angry bored people who have nothing better to do than bitch about stuff and insult people.

Lets get some material started shall we... Big red font is cool

    I hate emo music

    Vote Labour

    George Bush is my Hero

    Fenders are better than Gibsons...

    BITE ME

OK so maybe people can just use this thread for venting random rage and leave the proper ones alone.

  2. People, the price was just a ruff estimate, i'm not really sure how to value this guitar cos if the Westbury company relaunch is a success then this guitar will be worth more than twice what im asking in a couple of years, but if it isnt then i imagine 250 is more reasonable.

But i will listen to most reasonable offers- just drop me a pm.

    Cheers

  3. Idlewild were intense last night they played all their best songs apart from maybe In Remote Part, which is prob my fav. I only heard Fox face's last song they seemed ok, it was a bit simple though, but better than any of sons and daughters stuff- i think their guitarist needs to think up some different sounding songs, they all sounded the same to me.

    Awesome Concert!

  4. Hey,

Well i dont know about jags but i would definetly take your jag down to prosound and get it set up. The guy who works on the guitars really knows his stuff, he set my guitar up very nicely, he also checks all the electrics for you- it might be that there's something wrong electrically with your pickups.

I guess the bridge is just a bad design http://www.harmony-central.com/Guitar/Data4/Fender/Jaguar-01.html Which is confirmed in all these reviews, they also say to get a mustang bridge so i guess thats what you should do.

Still id be gutted if a new fender id been dreaming of and finally baught came with all these flaws- bad luck mate.

  5. Stevie Ray Vaughan

    Albert King

    Jimmy Hendrix

Although it was tight between Hendrix and Rory Gallagher i think Hendrix's compositional and sheer originality win him over, although why did he have to rip apart Rollin Stone by Muddy Waters and put every single line of it into Voodoo Child SR? THIEF.

  6. So i am selling my 1979 Westbury Standard (http://www.westburyguitars.com/standard.htm) which i have only owned for about 2 months. Its burgundy wine coloured but you can still see the mahogany grain through the finish. It has DiMarzio pickups (origninal) which give an impressive sound.

The guitar is in excelent condish, only some minor scratches on the right side that are only visible under bright sunlight, but considering it is 26 years old its basically perfect. I dont think the previous owner played it much because there is no fretware at all, unlike my strat of the same age. I also got it set up when i got it so its playing sweetly, i just dont like the les paul sound. The previous owner also claimed it sounded better than his 59 les paul! Although i cant say as i have never heard a 59'lp, but it does have a nice sound.

So, prob looking for around 350.

    Cheers, James

  7. Funny you mention this cos i just spent an hour or so in town looking for second hand guitars. I think R&B mainly have new stuff like Bruce Millers, and even their second hand guitars arnt much cheaper. As for Prosound (holburn st), they do have second hand stuff but as the guy told me it all depends on the inflow of used stuff.

  8. OK any les paul fans who have an unwanted strat i will trade for a 78 westbury standard which i am told by the previous owner sounds as good as a 59' lp. I am not sure this is true cos i have never played any les paul but i can say this guitar has incredible sustain and very high clear output.

    So c'mon pm me

  9. Drummer needed for some Blues jam sessions- nothing serious were just having fun playing. Influences include SRV, Hendrix, Wishbone Ash, Rory Galagher, Albert King, Muddy Waters etc..

We are meeting for a jam at the Foyer on Thursday @7 so just PM me if interested.

    Cheers,

    James

  10. For the type of music i play a hardtail is really perfect, and i can just create the tremolo effect using my fingers anyway. Although divebombing sound fun.

Oh and i agree with the fact that MOST new teles are overrated overpriced pieces of crap unless you have a spare grand on you or find a rare one, give me a strat any day.

  11. How many guitarists here actively use their tremolo arm whilst playing? I have always been quite curious about these as my 79 strat is a hardtail and so has no tremolo, and as i play mainly blues the technique comes up quite alot. Are they difficult to use? I would think that it would interfere with my picking action.

Would anyone think it would be worth getting a second strat with tremolo? Although i think that is a bit extreme myself.

    Cheers
