  1. In other words star wars is based on the bible :ding:

I have a theory that everything is out to serve me the most ironic punishment ever. As i often bounce my tennis racket off the soft ground at rubislaw but it never breaks, then suddenly it breaks when i'm in the midle of returning a serve :swearing: I always play my guitar quite hard and usualy use quite big bends ( 2 1/2 on occasion) and my strings never break, then as i close my guitar away in its case, all 3 top strings go !!!

    Why??

  2. Thats right i am selling two DiMarzio Humbuckers, in original condition as they were in 1979. The neck pickup has the DiMarzio PAF type rhythm pickup and by the bridge, is the DiMarzio SUPER DISTORTION II.

Alone these are worth alot, these are the type used in many les pauls during that time. But also included in the deal is the 79 Westbury Standard which the pickups are mounted on, check the add

    http://www.aberdeen-music.com/forums/showthread.php?t=23883

Infact i figured that maybe more people would click on this instead of seing the name 'Westbury' and run off, this is just as good as any les paul of a similar age.

    Looking for 250

  3. rubbish idea' date=' it would just make people more close-minded about music[/quote']

But doesn't the narrow scope of music discussed in these forums, ie punk, rock, metal, indicate that people are already narrow minded about music. Maybe if there was more info and interest shown in the less popular types of music then people would learn to appreciate more stuff.

  4. Just wondering what type of pickups are most popular here? i'm guessing alot of the metal heads use humbuckers, for myself i like super hot texas special single coils for my strats, my 79er's got custom shop ones and boy do they sound nice. :D

Also what are active pickups? i know they are battery powered but thats it.

  5. 1. In Session with Albert King and SRV

    2. Aha Shake Heartbrake- Kings of Leon

    3. Tatto-Rory Gallagher

    4. Electric Lady Land-Hendrix

    5. Irish Tour-Rory Gallagher

    6. Live from Montreaux-SRV

    7. The sky is crying-SRV

    8. Warnings/Promises-Idlewild

    9. Ten-Pearl Jam

    10. Room on Fire-The Strokes

Although most of my favourite blues artist's albums are in the form of greatest hits and compilations like that- my all time favourite box set is SRV and double trouble, the 3 cd and one dvd version, absolute class.

  6. Thanks JME! The show was fun' date=' it's cool when people dig really raw delta blues like that, rather than all the slick stuff. Did you make it in?

But, hey- we should still jam for shit's and giggles before you leave town! And if not good luck in your next place.[/quote']

I have PM'd you about a jam, unfortunately i couldnt make the gig though

  7. Ok i need help with higher maths...exam on friday :down:

This is what im stuck with

    solve the equation sin2x - cosx = 0 for 0<x<180

I know it has something to do with trig formulae but thats about it.

Hah, im currently revising AH maths at the mo, so..

    turns into 2sinxcosx - cosx = 0

    cosx( 2sinx - 1 ) = 0

That should help you get started

  8. I had a thought about dividing the music discussion sections into seperate forums based on music genres, ie metal, rock, pop, blues, jazz, etc.. This way people could talk more about their personal music interests as well as share info on the forum specific artists, upcomming shows and music etc.. It might (thats a big might) also stop people who are not really interested ina particular thread to stop being nasty about other people's musical tastes.

What does everyone think about this?

  9. Nothing wrong with having a nice bit of gear' date=' not really a talent though is it, saying 'Bass' would have covered it. Unless you are uniquely talented at operating the EQ etc.[/quote']

You shouldnt really moan about what he has listed as talents when you have listed 'the future' as a talent, whatever that means. In fact you shouldnt really be moaning at all in the adverisements, go away and leave the guys thread alone :nono:

  10. WOW im completely shocked by the dismal lack of interest in this thread, i mean who would have thought blues would be so unpopular in a bland, one chord guitar playing, punk/emo/metal infested city such as aberdeen?

  11. you're right' date=' it's not an i-pod, it's better than an i-pod. an i-pod has 17 hours battery life and the battery isn't replacable and holds less songs for the memory. using the altrac format the sony machine can double the amount of songs it holds compared to the ipod. and it's cheaper. plus every man and his dog has a bloomin i-pod. although, the docking stations for the i-pod do look very cool.

they don't call em i-pod killers for nothing.[/quote']

Fair enough, ill have to admit that my year old series 3 i pod's battery only last about 4 hours these days but thats because i use it as a portable hard drive, to store all my graphic design work ( around 4 gigs), and the i pod uses firewire connections which are far faster than usb and charge at the same time. Also, when the battery does die i can get another one http://ipaq-battery.co.uk/catalog/index.php?cPath=27. For pure aesthetics you cant beat an i-pod.

  12. I am posting a new thread, again for the purpose of finding some people to play some blues with. I am an 18 y/o guitarist and i am looking to find some people to jam with for the next month or so, please note this is just for fun, and unless we click straight away it is unlikely we woud be playing gigs or anything in the short time i have left in aberdeen.

Looking for: One drummer who is keen on playing blues (not rock or jazz)

One bassist also keen on playing, and who can hold a good tune during a solo.

I have already played with numerous guitarists so i am not really looking for another guitarist, as i can easily contact them myself.

Biggest influences on my playing are: SRV, Rory Gallagher, Albert King and some Hendrix. But anything else like Muddy Waters, B.B King, Elmore James, ALbert Collins, etc ..

    PM me if interested, Cheers
