  1. Only had it eight months and it's packed up. I thought it was the battery but looking at Apple's very confusing website it seems that it needs restoring and resetting, which apparently means I lose everything on it.

    Wonderful.

Anyone else had probs like this with one: basically it won't charge up, and when you hold down the menu and select buttons as directed the Apple symbol appears and then the sumbol of the ipod with a sad face and an exclamation mark.

  2. Am I the only one still trying to get their head round this statement? So' date=' let me get this straight - going to see a heavily marketed, mainstream Hollywood remake of a fairly passable, yet hardly classic, horror film on a day that's almost, but not quite, 6/6/6 (you're only 2000 years late for that one) makes you "cool".

    Oh, I see.[/quote']

668 neighbour of the beast, 667... just across the street.....

Actually the "666" in the Omen refers to the sixth HOUR of the Sixth day of the Sixth month, the year is irrelevant. Either way its all shit, and a misreading of Revelation. Its all nonsense so roping in 9/11 footage seems spectacularly pretentious as well as in bad taste, but I haven't seen it yet. I just can't stand this attempt to make out "this is all based on biblical prophecies"...no it isn't, read Revelations 13 and you'll see that the 666 thing is referring to something quite diffferent.

I think the original is near enough perfect, so a remake seems peculairly pointless, and how could they ever top that soundtrack?

I will go and have a peep at it: out of interest how is the method of beheading different?

  3. Hi all.

After the success of the last play, I've been commissioned to write a second, and again will be setting it in my home city.

It's largely going to be about teenagers, and I'm very keen to know what the experience of being a teenager in Aberdeen today is like compared to what it was when I was that age.

So I'm wondering if anyone on here is happy to share their thoughts?

Basically I'll be up in the city again probably next month, and if a gang or any individuals want to hook up somewhere with me and just chat freely, that would be great. It won't be twenty questions, just want to get your reflections on being a teenager here and now, is it as boring as it has been for most other generations, are Class As as easy to come by for the average teen as the papers suggest, do you feel constantly afraid of being judged or ridiculed by your mates or is your school/ social environment friendly and encouraging?

Look forward to hearing from anyone, cheers! Free tickets to the play or free booze naturally provided.

  4. Well that was the play!

Was a good Aberdeen presence quite frequently in the theatre: you could always tell when they were in as there were laughs as soon as the mad heather lady or Charlie's got mentioned!

Anne Begg mentioned the play in Parliament after seeing it as part of her plea for more commitment to the arts in Aberdeen. So far no word on whether the play will get an airing in its native city but it is likely to surface again in some shape or form. Meantime for those who missed it the script is in the shops now.

Thanks to everyone who made it down!

    xx

  5. A Heart in Winter is a fabulous Frrench film. L'Apartement, The DOuble Life of Veronique are two other gems.

I'd also say A Short Film about Love and A Short Film About Killing, and the unbelieveably shocking Funny Games

  6. I'll give anyone a 5 note if they can tell me where that bus was destined for.

    tick tock tick tock

    Scatterburn?

I have a BBC documentary from 1972 filmed in Aberdeen, and its extraordinary to see some of the differences there: Old Torry before it was flattened for instance!
