haha, sorry wee man. See post just above yours, we're all outa spaces. But I'm sure you'll get a band. If you've been playing 7 years, you must be pretty damn good. I'm sure you'll get something

Ok, well I think the band finally has its final line-up! We have 4 songs nearly finished, and more on the way, so I think we should be hitting the stage sometime relatively soon!
Line-up as follows:
Mel (Hardcore Mel) - Vocals
Andy (YouthGoneWild) - Guitars
Scott (Sl4sh) - Guitars
Chris (Johnny Lucifer) - Bass / Vocals
Iain - Drums

Don't hate them, just think they're decidedly average. I wouldn't say listening to them particularly offends me, I just wouldn't go out of my way to do so

I'll get on sticking the last track we recorded - London Lights - up when I get home from uni today.
YouthGoneWild - you mean Volpone' date=' and we didn't re-record it. You might like London Lights though. It's a bit different. Nothing like Robbie Williams, though, you'll be distraught to hear... [/quote']
What a shame I'll give it a listen when it goes up. And you should re-record Volpone, I reckon it's your best tune.

Haha, cheesy tae fuck! But I like it! The songs are catchy, and I could definately see you guys as being a great live band.

Nope sorry guys, this one is not any better than the last one. What was that song that began with a "V"? It was actually a decent wee tune. The chorus to Post Cards is quite catchy as well, but the new stuff just hasna impressed me at all. Sorry guys

Hi, I'm really in the market for an SG at the moment. Ideally I'd really like a Tokai, but I know finding one on here might be a little unrealistic. Just basically want an idea of what everyone has to offer? If you have an SG of any make, and are willing to sell, slap up the details for me to have a look, cheers (Also willing to do a swap perhaps for a 400 Yamaha I never use - complete with official hard case)

Well I have to say I quite enjoy a good few of the local bands. I like to attend gigs when I can, which isn't as often as I'd like, cause I'm usually skint. I think there are some decent new bands up and coming, I was particularly impressed with Kenetic. Not my usual cup of tea, but I actually intend to buy the EP if / when it's released. My Minds Weapon's music really isn't my thing at all, but it's quite easy to appreciate the MMW are absolutely fantastic at what they do. The Weapon lads IMO outstrip a lot of bands in their genre, which you see polluting the music waves on the radio and tv. I don't wander into random gigs very often, but the last one I saw, was Radio Lucifer & Dear John. Obivously, I know Lucifer and think they're a fantastic local band (I've never walked away from a show disappointed yet), but I'd never heard of Dear John. I have to say by the time Dear John had finished their set, I was suitably impressed. The songs were thought out, definately had some originality about them, and the band were tighter than a Mother Superior's pussy. Even the Welles, who don't really impress me much in terms of song writing, are a brilliant live band. I can't deny that. The Welles, on occasions I've seen them, have been energetic, the quality of their playing has been top form & the band are tight. Of course there will be bands that are appauling, but everyone starts somewhere. Kudos to these bands for putting themselves out there, as the more they do so, the better they'll get. It's all a learning curve. I think it just goes back to the same old thing - EVERY scene has its good and bad bands, just some are glorified more than others, leading to misconception. Of course you'll find more good bands in Glasgow! It's about 3 x the size of Aberdeen! And of course London has more good bands than Glasgow - it's 6x bigger, go figure! Proportionately Aberdeen has pretty much the same level of quality and poor bands as anywhere. I personally think Aberdeen has a nice little scene on the go, and there are a lot of decent bands kicking around that I have, and will enjoy going to see again.

Local Bands (past / present) that I like
Radio Lucifer
Black Atom
Double Jack
Fester
10 Easy Wishes
Kenetic
Dear John
Midnight Noise Collective
Digital Sin
Stayover (shhhh)
The Cuts
Estrella
Ascension*
*they're actually a decent band, they're just unpopular because of the fights they get into on here - I've heard some of the new tunes, and it's some good shit

Oh fuck, actually, on a second look there, my friend's dad has one of these! They're amazing! Probably the most playable acoustic I've come across! I'd definately recommend you give it a spin. Can't believe I never fuckin' noticed that

Well' date=' a friend of a friend had some kind of washburn and it was really nice, just a perfect sound, y'know? He said it was cheap, like 120, and this one is 109 on GAK.co.uk, but it looks well made, with the neck binding and all, suggesting a good deal.[/quote']
I might look into that myself, seeing as I'm in the market for a new acoustic, because of a certain someone (not to name names). Know if any of the Aberdeen shops stock em? I usually like to try before I buy.
Cheers, Andy

I can't say I've tried one mate, but I've tried a Dean in a similar price range. It was a deep red electro acoustic and it was fantastic. It was 289 in Bruce Millars, I'd recommend you give them a whirl! I unfortunately don't have mine any more, as some dodgy cunt (who I used to call friend) asked for a lend of it, then ran off to cash convertors with it!!!!!

Thanks very much man. I finished it today
Very nice dude! I'm quite partial to Telecasters, and this is a very nice one indeed! Build me one!

It's no biggie really. That looked like a Reef Shark, either a white tip or a grey tip. They're quite a small species and not very aggressive, so no big achievement really on the octo's part. Cool footage none the less though

ah yes' date=' but anyone who takes their Username from a Skid Row song automatically forfeits their right to comment on anything. Ever.
love from christy[/quote']
Firstly to you. I stated an opinion. It is my opinion, I'm entitled to it, I gave it, deal with it. I retain all rights to comment on whatever I want. I'll say nothing more. I'm not going to be a petty and childish.
I get the feeling your opinion is so polluted by your own musical tastes you simply posess no ability whatsoever to think objectively' date=' regardless of the contrived attempt above.I'd also suggest this notion is generally very potent among fans of 80s rock / metal etc.[/quote']
And as for you. You automatically assume, because I like Skid Row, that I listen to nothing else? I enjoy classical music & film scores (I'm quite partial to some Rachmaninov piano concertos, and Mozart's lighter music - ala' Eine Klein Nachtmusik, although Requiem - Lacrymosa is quite a listen as well) I'm quite partial to blues music ala' Gary Moore & Stevie Ray Vaughn, I enjoy some pop music (Elton John, Robbie Williams), I like 50s Rock N' Roll. Buddy Holly was the first musician to really inspire me when I was 7. I enjoy some Jazz, but I will admit, only a little - Eva Cassidy anyone? I enjoy some industrial music - I'm open to new ideas. I enjoy world music (especially music incorporating pan pipes), I like a bit country every now and then as well - Sheryl Crow. I like a bit soul as well, Barry White can fairly write a tune! I could probably go on for quite a bit longer.... So, Mr. Presumptious Poncy Pants, do go judging people on the basis of such minute details!

Just had a proper listen the now man. I like. The lyrics are very good man, and the music is very stripped down and organic - which is a nice change. I found the vocals were a touch weak in some places, but overall good.

Listened to both tracks' date=' not really that impressed to be honest. Production of the tracks is good - but there is nothing about the songs that make me go "fuck, these guys are good".
Not really my taste in music either. But when it comes to listening to new bands/music, I always listen to each song from "the fence" as it were, but as I say, nothing to get excited about IMO.
Sorry [/quote']
What he said ^. I take a similar stance when listening. I won't dismiss somethin just because it isn't to my taste. Take Hot Mangu for instance. Their style of music really ain't my thing, but they're very good at what they do, and that comes through in their tracks. This just didn't give me anything. It's not awful, but it's the sort of track that'd be playing the the background and it wouldn't really annoy you, or please you. You just wouldn't notice it was there.

Touch' date=' salesman.[/quote']
Haha I'll stop bein a dick now. It's just nae my thing I guess. But I'll give the other two tracks a spin when they go up

Fair enough. But we were best newcomers instead. Hah!
Kudos to yous for that. but that just says it all to me for what the scene has to offer in new bands
-
Sorry lads, just nae feelin it. Tell me when the other tracks go up, and I'll give them a blast. But tracks like this are the reason you got my vote for worst band for the fudge awards...

But yeah, just wanted to ask a quick Q? I never really took to NIN on first hearing them a few years ago, but if those tracks of yours are meant to be in a similar vain, I wouldn't mind giving them a spin again. Can you recommend anything? 8)

I liked the tunes. Just simple tunes with a clean feel to them, but I really dug them. It'd be the sort of thing I'd chill out to. Good work!
