I was mostly annoyed that they didn't show macca live on bbc 3 and insisted showing what seemed like 5 hours of bloody basement jaxx! ARGH!! I'm looking forward to seeing Television tonight though... *presses red button*

Good question, as i have a 70's Electro harmonix clone theory i've been meaning to get fixed.
-
I'm inclined towards Fenders, owning a japanese 57' Strat, Mex/USA Tele and a japanese jaguar with a gibson bridge/tail piece and humbuckers...
...And my favourite pedals tend to be electro harmonix ones, the weirder the better. I always think that boos style ones sound kinda generic.
-
Aww man, that is a really shitty thing for someone to do... and it sounds like a cool guitar btw.
-
if you can't get any inspiration right now, i wouldn't bother trying to force yrself to write as song. It will most likely end up sounding pish.

David Bowie ~ Sound and vision

They have been around for a while, and do kinda sound like a generic amerikan indie thing... im not too keen on them at all.

My god that book bored the shit out of me. I guess it would be pretty good if you have the discipline of a nazi.
Mwahahaha...

That looks pretty cool, the joystick idea is good...
-
I'm surprised i liked it, since i find the oasis version of it really dull and dreary... it just plods along.

So who knows the Minor Penatonic Scale in all 5 positions' date=' in all keys and is able to switch between them whilst playing?[/quote']

My band once had to cancel a practice at captain toms as our drummer was being held hostage by a boiler suit wearing nutjob... i shit you not.
-
Albatross, from reading yr posts i do believe yr band should be called Captain Arsehole and the Arshole Brigade...
-
It said on their site it should be finished by autumn. They also said that the new albums "is going to be full of pop songs' date=' because our last album was so heavy." So it'll be interesting to see what they come up with.[/quote']
I hope there are dance moves and everything then...

Cool, i'll have to get that when i have a better fundage situation after forking out mega bucks to see the polyphonic spree in london...

http://placidaudio.com/ ...there are sound files and info about this kind of mic, which i think sounds really good, but $250 is pretty expensive personally being a student.
-
Doctor in the helicopter, named because the demo 4 track version sounded vaguely like oasis, according to the singer... but i think it's got a siamese dream thing going on...
-
Aeroplane flies high ~ Smashing Pumpkins
Anyone ever heard the Team Sleep (Chino from deftones side project) cover of it?
-
Has anyone got their first record Von? I've tried for ages but i can't find it anywhere...
-
I've not heard much of Ira kaplin, just got one yo la tengo album and a bunch of singles but he's cool, very velvet undergroundy... which reminds me:
Sterling Morrison, gotta love all that feeback...
-
Oh shit! And Mazzy Star ~ Five string serenade...
-
k, songs people haven't already mentioned:
Flaming Lips ~ After the goldrush (Neil Young)
Polyphonic Spree ~ Five Years (David Bowie); Ride Captain Ride (Can't remember who wrote the original)
Pixies ~ Wild Honey Pie (Beatles)
Breeders ~ Happiness is a warm gun (Beatles)
Belly ~ Are you experianced? (Jimi Hendrix)
Ryan Adams and Beth Orton ~ Brown Sugar (Rolling Stones)
Jeff Buckley ~ Night Flight (Led Zeppelin)
Nirvana ~ D-7 (The Wipers)
Sonic Youth ~ Moist Vagina (Nirvana)
Flying Burrito Brothers ~ Wild Horses (Rolling Stones)
That's all i can thikn of right now... And i think that Sonic Youth actually wrote "Touch me I'm sick" so it was Mudhoney who covered it, still a great song though...
-
Hmm... This is pretty damn hard!
Queens of the Stone Age
Ryan Adams... (I did actually buy hearbreaker before gold)
Can't imagine Jeff Buckley counts...
Damn, my brain is melting trying to think of bands without looking at my record collection.

Personally I'm just a really bad Billy Corgan impersonator 'cos i learned to play guitar by learning from gish, siamese dream and Mellon Collie...
As original guitarists go, I'd say Tom Morello and Nick Zinner are the first two that spring to mind that do something different with a guitar.
