  1. I sadly missed the prodigy as i went to slipknot. I really thought slipknot were pretty average, which is a shame as i was really excited to see them.

I'd forgotten about killswitch - they were immense, and howard is a brilliant frontman, so much presence and clearly a nice bloke too.

Pendulum were also really boring i thought. I had hoped they'd be good but it afer a few tracks the same drumbeat and annoying keyboard tone fronted by a tim westwood-a-like gets pretty old.

  2. who went then?

Im just back, discussion thread time?

    in my opinion:

limp bizkit = best band of the festival

slipknot = major disapointment. Sloppy, especially joey jordison. Only played 1.5 hours, which is very poor for a headliner. I expected 2 or 2.5

Other than that major highlights for me were fightstar, chris cornel, papa roach, architects, trivum (i wanted to hate them, but they were great). Journey aswell - cheesetastic.

Other lowlights - down (boring) devil driver (boring) and black stone cherry (pub rock, not really sure what the fuss is about)

I didn't see faith no more, i was rather ill at the time.

  3. For all you fans of overdriven melodic post-rock -

Fudge and Snafu present, at their Black Tooth Rock Lounge night,Monday 8th June

Dundee's SPYAMP formed in 1999. The band were T-Break winners in 2001 and followed this with support slots with Oxes, Tribute to Nothing and 99, and were recorded live by Radio 1 Session in Scotland supporting Biffyclyro. Debut album 'GTi' was released on Pet Piranha Records late in 2005.

RSI caused the band to take a break for a couple of years and cancel a UK tour, but Spyamp returned to play Manchesters 'In the City' and record a second session for BBC Scotland. This gig will mark the release of their second album.

Local support from INAME and MOLINEUX (ex retreat and current clearer the sky)

This is this monday, for free, at snafu. Passes for the bands - just message us.

  4. I know this seems like it was in the distant past, but I just found a review of the gig here: God Is In The TV | This Town Needs Guns Kartta Aberdeen Moshulu, 14th February 2009

Also, expect to see This Town Needs Guns in a more suitable environment later in the year. They've expressed quite a bit of interest to play a Slanted & Enchanted night.

For anyone interested in Kartta, there will be an EP (no, really!) out towards the end of the summer. It will be very limited because we can't afford to make many. As of September, it is very likely the band will no longer exist and there may be an EP launch/final gig in July/August time.

hells yeah to this town needs guns playing slanted and enchanted.

hells no to kartta splitting but hells yes a to a big fuck off gig.

  6. Bit of a let down for me, but this may be due to bias at listening to heavier stuff at the moment, thought The Xcerts were tight but lightweight and meandering!, My Vitriol, were poor, time has not be kind to there sound, had all these mid 90s Brit Rock bands in my head, Feeder, Manson, Placebo, etc, nice big crowd though!, overall dated!!

What gig were you at man?

I don't think my vitriol dated at all. Infact, their stuff possibly sounds more at home in 2009 than it did before. And the new songs were so good: some technical and interesting stuff being played.

  7. Bit of a mismatch in the end. Career over for Hatton?

I don't think he should fight again. I think he's perfectly capable of winning titles at light-welter; but he doesn't need to. He's fought 47 times; lost only twice to the best boxers in the world at the time. Nothing to prove. He's rich, has a smokin fiance, has a kid, and has the framework to go ahead and build his gym - no need to box.
