  1. Right, Ive done my letter now...... To any lazy backwater media hack who accidentally reads this, Please can you write some nice things about my band. And my friends band. We are great you know, and someday very soon we will be famous household names. You can say you discovered us if you like. Me and Johnny (my friend) are part of a scene. You should write about the scene. Its really great. Johnny comes to see my band and offers us 'constructive critisism'. Then I go to see his band and I too, offer 'constructive critisism'. Secretly though, we both really fucking hate each other. Its all so fantastic and surely just as newsworthy as the one eared sheep that was gang raped in Turrif. You see, if we can read about ourselves, it will really help to inflate our egos and make our mums and girlfriends very proud. We are prepared to offer sexual favours, if you do offer to write something nice in your newspaper about us. After all, we are incapable of making any difference on our own and we would much rather you did it for us! Please help, we are desperate. And Im sure your only reader (Mrs Mackenzie of Tillydrone, aged 92) will enjoy reading about our fantastic third rate grotcore, twatpunk, and crotchmetal. A huge needy thankyou in advance, A Pissclubber Aberdeen
  2. oh my god......you moaning twats ''we are great - we deserve coverage - we are so happening - we are the news- they owe it to us to make us famous and worship our talent !!!'' blah blah fucking blah snooty and slightly desperate sounding wee letters as barely disguised attempts to suck their backwater media dicks ....oh dear i think im gonna be sick again as if anyone witha brain reads it anyway its main function is cat litter and tramp's blankets

    Turning 13

anything from the scream would sound good with you lot playing it ive got a peel session version of Love in a Void that massacres the album version and thats what makes me think it would be a neat live tune so to speak but all the early banshees stuff is fantastic really.....just a pity they went all goth in the end i can also kinda visualise a cuts version of some public image tunes funnily enough but ill stop now, cos youz probably like us and wanna avoid getting sucked into doing covers

agree with everything (espesh the hi velocity bricks) apart from the term 'rock band' for bands like the Cuts Its a matter of personal definition i suppose I just wanna hear the Cuts cover 'Love in a Void' by Siouxsie and the Banshees! Not an easy song to do justice to cos its so fantastic, but Lucys got the voice if anyone has

    Turning 13

Yus Bands like Jet are the enemy of the future Just take every tired cliche and regurgitate it without no attempt to actually express anything remotely original or new SAFE ROCK MUSIC FOR THE SEMI-DETACHED Easy money....but shit And Im quite amused that Im not the only one who gets a hard time from 'proper Guitarists' Fuck scales and widdly shit The daft thing is, I can actually do them, but just dont cos they sound so already done If a song sounds right with 3 chords and a two note fill then thats all it needs
  6. i missed the wire gig but i imagine the reveiw is an accurate reflection of an aberdeen crowds reaction to anything thats not in the ASDA chart
  7. extremely tres poop i love him too (as much as its possible to love someone youve never met) felt the same bout Joey and Dee Dee feel the gloom.....
  8. My cousin is their drummer basically.....he wants to see us play (hes too busy to come to one of our own gigs), so he convinced Eric at Drummonds to put us on Otherwise there would be no support band at all as The Clashed dont use them anymore because several have indeed been given a tough ride by the Clashed devotees So its entirey for me cousins benefit and also his fault when we get filled in.....but hey its family.... But realistically, we do fare ok in front of hard core skinhead or old skool punk audiences......I think they get confused at first and probably do contemplate beating us up but then gradually seem to respect us for having the nerve to go onstage with our camp plastic pop. We could also play much faster than normal to make them think its punk, and it could actually help with our exit plan. The toughest bastard audiences are the dance crowd.....eurgh..... Skins Rool OK
  9. shocks are go then we are actually playing the night before in Drummonds supporting The Clashed and no doubt being bottled off by the skinheed contingent but our gear will still be there from the nite before, so should we get discharged from Casualty in time, we will certainly contribute to said good cause yup
  10. erm, there is no sunday 29th of september in 2004 is this a bizesque wind up?
  11. you are missing the point of punk entirely if you start applying rules to it like that political manipulators hi jacked punk in the late seventies as a way of gaining influence with the nations youth ....everyone from crass to billy fucking bragg since the bandwagon has got steadily more away from the whole point with people saying you must beleive in either this or that or sound like this or that to be punk....in other words its as bad for stereotyping and conforming as all the other shitty genres ....metal, emo etc punk is not neccessarily anything to do with politics its all about individualism and its totally dead other than the lazy warped mis used bastardised interpretation that gets used to define anything thats heavy and cooler than metal and faster than grunge
  12. tres good music but to be fair theres plenty of punk b sides from 76 and 77 that sound almost identical bar the modern sounding 'metallish' guitar breakdown bits no boundaries being pushed that i can hear - even though ill be playing all morning (cheers) possibly the only band that has a punk sensibility and pushes musical boundaries i can think of at the moment would be Melt Banana......but they dont go on about punk this and punk that....they just are what they are.....which to me is more punk that most punks.....if you see what I mean and punk is not political....neither conservative nor socialist political activists adopted punk for their own gain in the late seventies and laid claim to it in some kind of ivory tower mentality....people like crass etc....punk is/was open and individual and should be too fucking out there to be paraded under ANY single banner, be it social / political / whatever imo* *punk is/was also about being an individual not that i would claim to be a punk, punk is dead
  13. the 'underground' so called DIY punk scene is the opposite of punk punk meant doing something new, pushing boundaries - not rehashing riffs and pseudo angry lyrics that have been played a zillion times by a zillion bands in the last 30 years you people are what punk is actually against even though i like the sound of a lot of the current DIY 'so-called punk' (everything Dave Rowlands turns his hand too sounds great).......but even though the music is good Im able to differentiate between that and what was punk in the real sense...cos its certainly not original or pushing any boundaries and I doubt it intends to unfortunately no matter how much we wish it did.......punk in the sense of originality does not exist anymore DIY means 'organised' NOT 'punk' i suppose this starting to be another 'what is punk' thread....and that is probably because the word punk has been bastardised and so many people are ready to use it to describe something that it's not
  14. punk is irrelevant now shit like this proves it beyond doubt the music and ideology has been hi jacked and mis used / abused by wankers so punk is dead pointless genre someone should invent a new one hooray tra la la la
  15. i think that's tonite qui/non/delete *rummages for body glitter* looking forward to The Execution of.....a lot
  16. Bigger badder beats that go dysfunktional occasionally as opposed to the regular breakdown stylee Slightly less busy bass synths....more empasis on the gaps in the sequences Less synth sounds from the early 90s The progressions are great and the second half of 3034 is super cheeze on toast!!!! Look less happy in your photo (that really freaked me out....didnt recognise you )
  17. one of the singers yup im the one who messes about with a guitar
  18. without a doubt > DemonFartGas Belching Napalm in Gods Face Regurgitated Anus Total Conformance to Non Comformity Rebellion by Numbers ...are all going to be huge and completely fantastic and fill Pittodrie can't wait!
  19. worthy things for sure (apart from jazz...) and tres worthy of public funding imo - unlike most other things that are publicly funded (coppers, traffic wardens, councils etc) still dont know why its such a pricey place to drink ?(
  20. yay! ...someones spotted the 'stage musical' - ness in the way we konstruct songs.....not many people notice that, but its deliberate....lots of double choruses and micro drama bits all just running together like a mini musical we would have had a filmshow too to complement proceedings but technikal hitches got in le way
  21. yup k station is a much better synth than the micro korg micro korg is a fairly limited synth......generic-ish sounds, limited programming, fairly crap vocoder (but all vocoders are crap and over used) but its got a good appregiator i had one for a few months and put it on ebay as soon as i sussed its limitations and got my money back basically seems to a popular item though and tres good fer beginners kinda thing who dont wanna get bogged down witha load of programming
