  1. Completely agree with that' date=' there's been more little musical 'movements' like when 'Nu-Metal' and 'Pop-Punk' became very popular at the start of the decade, and now there's a bit of a Post-Punk/New-Wave revival, but there hasn't been anything that's really lasted long enough to be significant.

    [/quote']

There can be no social or musical ''movements'' in the 00s. Its all easily labelled marketing invented for us by accountants and lazy journalists for us to consume en mass. Its all got a very short shelf life and generally lacks substance therby keeping those people in a job. ''Oh look *NAME ANY CHART ACT* are in the bargain bin....lets get marketing!''

'Nu-Metal' and 'Pop-Punk, Post-Punk/New-Wave revival are just terms to define any given months marketing strategy to the blind kids reading the brail NME. Probably. etc

EDIT: Except some forms of Hip Hop, Reggae and some electronic dance stuff which are a more real and representative sound of the nations creative underground. All Rock is dead as a creative force. Probably.

  2. I'm really surprised no-one's mentioned Neptunes/N*E*R*D* yet. They're one of the most influential acts this decade and set the bar for high standards in pop' date=' R+B and hip hop. They certainly changed the way contemporary music sounds and they'll probably be looked upon in years to come in the same way Phil Spector was in the 60's.

    [/quote']

Yeh, I thought that too. Cant underestimate the hugeness and influence of the resurgent hip hip/rap/r&b thats happened in the 00s, with the best bits mostly being associated with The Neptunes.

Also agree The White Stripes have been pretty era defining band so far in a non era defining era full of bands that mostly look backwards not forwards. Potentially Franz also.

  3. Ahaha' date=' special needs! You're making allusions to me having some sort of mental disability, how hilarious! If I wasn't far too dumb to realise what this meant, I'd probably be offended! What a hilarious controversial ageing punk prankster you are Mr Betamax, sir! Woo![/quote']

    popcorn anus

    *wonders how/when I became a 'punk'*

EDIT: if I use capitals again will you piss your pants? (oops I just did)

    *smells piss*

  4. the reason they will be massive is down to the fact that people who dont normally like much indie or pop rock stuff actually like them and thats a lot of people

    mass trans genre appeal basically

they will be annoying to lots of people too like all good bands, but I reckon theyll get be as be as big as say Blur were in the 90s

    looking forward to the album

  5. I love how you capitalise all the bands' date=' so CONTROVERSIAL do you consider your choices to be. Oh MY, how could you SAY the UNSAYABLE? This is all so UNEXPECTED.

    ETC.[/quote']

    glad you appreciate my obviousness

but the thread does actually ask a very obvious question

*makes note that even leaving the CAPS lock on by mistake for a minute can cause trauma to those with special needs*

    etc

  6. Very now sounding a la Arctic Monkeys and Test-Icicles sorta stuff as previously said.

In fact usually the kinda stuff that Betamax would be detesting as being poor' date=' speeded-up versions of Gang Of Four et al non? ;)[/quote']

    non!

Test Icicles are a poor, speeded up (but not really) cheapo version of Pop Will Eat Itself obviously. Yo.

I am however compliant in my appreciation of the Artic Monkeys.

  7. Yeah sorry bout talkin so much shit' date=' can't help myself. I had been getting better (I think) but kinda got carried away. Will try not to be as stupid next time.

Good to hear that people enjoyed it, I had a good night even though I was exhausted and finished work just as the doors opened.

Enjoyed the videos and data panik but was much too tired to dance.

Hope to see some of you at the lemon tree lunchtime gig on 19th January

    Dave who is jamie :)[/quote']

that last truly amazing song youz did easily made up the appalling banter!

  8. No melody' date=' you really are a clueless fuck. Do we sound like the type of band to have melodys? No vocal variation? How can a low as fuck growl and a high grind scream not be variation?

Like everyone knows you know shit all. If you dont like our genre or band then dont watch us.

In the future i would LOVE for you to say these things to my face instead of saying it on the net like the wee pussy you are.

And you had plenty of chances to.

   [/quote']

    how brutally refreshing!

  9. Course not' date=' but you can always appreciate a band that are good at what they do, i thought they were an absolutely shocking example of their genre - it just seemed terribly put together and done for the sake of it more than anything else.

it's like..hmm, what's a good example, i'm not overly keen on we shall be blessed's style of music, but i can appreciate them for being good at it, but weeping jesus just seemed like an awful band full stop.[/quote']

    see above

  10. Ill sell you a 1970s HH 100 Watt Combo for £130

Ive lent it out to a band in England but am getting it back on December 20th, but wont need it.

Its in really good condition, full of transistors (no valves), sounds warm and retro and has a pretty green glowing front panel. Sounds nice for half clean/half dirty sounds. Not good for jazz metal though. :D Its also got wheels on it so u can use it to travel around on.
