  1. Oh aye' date=' totally. I mean Tomahawk are only obscure in as much as you can't buy their CDs in Virgin or HMV. There's nowt obscure about a band that consists of a drummer, bassist, guitarist and singer who come up with ace riffs. But then ace riffs make me a happy man.[/quote']

...I bought the first tomahawk album, as well as the fantomasmelvins big band cd from HMV. I have found both HMV and Virgin to have quite good stock really, if a little pricey sometimes. I'd hardly say they are obscure when they are featured in Kerrang! magazine (shudder) and sell out european tours. yes

  2. does fudge cover local bands? i just do stuff i like whether it be local or not. not a fan of webzines. cant read em on the toilet or before i go to bed. no offence meant' date=' just i have my preferences[/quote']

fudge cover local bands, they have an annual awards thing for local bands and everyfink.

i guess you could print articles off from the webzine, which means lost cost for the zine makers, and a greater ease for the reader.

  3. sharpshooter and fudge. hmm...dint tom from 10 easy wishes do one? well i never seen any others

i guess the forthcoming (yeah we've been saying that for a while' date=' but i mean it this time..) webzine [url']www.eatingpaper.com is technically an 'aberdeen' zine, though I doubt we'll be covering many local bands, if any.

  4. sounds good! lets hope it goes ahead and abdn make him welcome and the crowd manage to keep quiet. Thats my only problem with the lemon tree the bloody people who turn up to a gig and chat constantly

thats not really a problem with the lemon tree itself, that happens at almost every show, whatever the venue.

  5. I remember Gavfest. I remember tents being wrecked. I remember lime hurting neil's eye. I remember the princess leia/rubbish man, and his screaming. I remember some sort of music. I remember the look of paul milne's face, right until i left at 8am or something silly. gavfest eh?

  6. I made this mix CD of recent tunes (with a few exceptions) for driving. its just stuff that was on my computer anyway' date=' and i don't find myself skipping through the tracks so it must be OK.

  7. the 'live at cbgb's' album you've bought is great, as is the aforementioned mike patton collaboration 'maldoror' - which is a great album to fall asleep to by the way. The only other merzbow recordings I have is the recently released "last of the analog sessions" which is a 3cd box of....his last analog sessions. Its worth looking into, I quite like it.

  8. Why would you want to hear music you already "know about" when in a shop? I assume if you like the music so much as to make a thread about your grievances about this on a messageboard, you own the albums/ep's/etc you want to hear? Perhaps you could listen to those..?
