  1. Oooh' date=' no. Much as it pains me to back up the Jester, on this point I have to. Andy Gangadeen is one of the world's top session drummers, and a total hero.[/quote']

Yes i agree, mr Gangadeen is good, but many forget the many all time great session drummers, who could piss all over most drummers of most styles today, and thereon after - namely need i say more than mr Dennis Chambers!

I have years of following this guy before getting into my metal, well the two of my 3 inspirations - Dave Weckl and Dennis Chambers, and number 3 - Nicholas Barker.

  2. To be honest man if you get a great supporting bill then I think you're sorted. It's no diss on your band but you'll need an enticing lineup to get people along to Moshulu to see E106. Maybe getting Godplayer' date=' Broken Oath, Allergo or someone up to play with you would be a good move.

Also harass Filthpact day and night to play another show. Then I'm there ;)[/quote']

I see where you are coming from there, but it kinda defeats the point in us playing a gig at moshulu then doesn't it? I dont believe we need to persuade people to see us, if so, then i'd rather not play the gig. People come to our gigs who want to come, we dont bully or harrass folk into coming.

To me, playing moshulu is like playing Drakes, 2/3rd's of the people there are only there on the night for the sake of it and would come regardless of which bands are playing. - THIS IS NOT A SLUR ON MOSHULU!! IT ROCKS as a venue.

We just have alot on just now.

  3. has anyone here got access to a facility for making them?

i should have the template and the boards for etching.

To be honest, your best bet is using veroboard you can get at any respectable electronics firm, maplin, ahem possibly, the stuffs cheap as buggery, plus it's linear tracked with pre-punched holes, alternatively if you want something fabricated, give me a shout, i actually work at Baker Hughes in portlethen, electronic technician is my job title, i'm kinda what you'd call a specialist in that area, piece of piss to me mate, you should see the dash board of my car, electronic shit everywhere.

PM me with your requirements and circuit diagram, nothing's too complicated, the shit inside effects/ amps is very old school

    Chris!

    Valued in excess of 10,000

Not alot for alot of kit!!

  5. Ryan Van Poederyroon who is Devin Townsends drummer thinks so. He has also played with members of Meshuggah' date=' Darkane, Strapping Young Lad etc.

This is what he had to say about our new song.

    "!Hog.....

You're fuckin' Metal bro !!!! That was some heavy shit ! Very cool dude. Keep posting stuff, Some very cool riff's in that song....I love the opening Double Kick beat with the matching guitar riff...pretty cool. The mid (cut time) riff is very cool as well. Good stuff bro....keep up the good work !

    All the best,

    RVP"[/quote']

    Need i say more

  6. Ok' date=' Onion Terror and Atom have/gonna do an evening with gig at Moshulu. Should Element do one?[/quote']

And why oh why, did you put the travolta saturday night fever picture online man, you know i keep those moves for the weekend :) lol, what a nob i look! :nono:

  7. Ok' date=' Onion Terror and Atom have/gonna do an evening with gig at Moshulu. Should Element do one?[/quote']

Damn right we should, if my damn feet hold on long enough to play before buckling!

But who should we play with?? Ideas, send them on a post card to PO Box Hogs Ma looks like Cadfael.com!!

    :rockon::D

  8. You should specify how fast. When it gets to the higher bpm range even ideals of say an extra 10bpm can make all the difference.

I disagree with all this BPM shite, when dealing in speedy metal drumming, you really are dealing in 16ths, and 32's with your feet (If your name is frost, nick barker or Tjodalv, maybe Gene hoglan too).

Possibly even 64th's with your hands, and yes that kind of speed is possible., scary but true

  9. We're looking for an amazing metal drummer to complete our line up' date=' musical influences include: Pantera, Lamb Of God, Chimaira, Opeth, Machine Head, Slayer you get the picture. The music is pretty technical and fast so you have to be at least moderately good, and skill on the double kick drum is essential!

Pm or reply to arrange a jam and some beerage

    Cheers![/quote']

Jesus, for some reason i wouldn't have said you could put "Moderately Good" in the same sentence as Lamb of god, pantera, or slayer.

What you ask is of very high skill level, there are only 5 drummers in aberdeen i could name who can play that well, unfortunately for you they are all in bands!

  10. Bloody typical....I've got a practice myself from 7-9 on Thursday' date=' but I'm across at the place underneath Atmospheric Lighting & Sound!! I could probably pop into Tom's on my way there, but it would need to be 6:30ish. Can you manage that??[/quote']

Yeah thats cool, i'll be in toms from 6.30 on thursday, i'll see you then!

  11. It's about a year old but in excellent condition. No cracking or keyholing whatsoever.

I'd want to have a listen to your cymbal before swapping if thats OK....I've listened to the sample on zildjian.com' date=' but to be honest these never sound much like the real thing so want to be sure. I play A-Custom crashes which are bright sounding, so there's a chance that a very dark sounding china might clash.

Any chance we could meet up at Capt.Tom's some evening and take it from there??? Let me know.....[/quote']

Yeah that sounds ok, only fair i suppose!!

I'll be in toms at 7 pm on thursday as suaul for the bands practice, if you ask one of the guys which room element 106 are in just pop right in, i shall bring the china with me, any time between 7 and 9, whichever is good for yourself!

  12. I dont know if this is in the right section, i hardly ever have time to look at the forums these days to know, but as the message says,

For sale - 19" K custom Dark china, mint condition, well looked after an hardly used, as i've never really accustomed to the sound, i'm more of a mini china man.

all i can say is that its very raw, of course with dark overtones, but is more of a pang than a trash, and sounds very like Zildjians Swish Knocker cymbal!

    A steal at 90

Just PM me or reply to this advert!!

    Metal

  13. The 14th of May at The Moorings. Fudge Night. Metal

Hey Mr Gel, is that a saturday?

It will be very strange playing without Jaimi, but hey folks give us a chance, we're still working hard on chunking the sound out to fill impossible boots!

    We still rock hard! :rockon::band:

    Darts

  14. lol' date=' well Tony (vox) is a scene whore but feels that ab-music is waste of time, Jaimi- he left theband, Mike- doesnt like humans, and Chris (drums) just has access from work. Me... I work for myself and spend too much time on this site.[/quote']

A wee correction gel boy, i don't have access at work, just from home!!

But i'm like tony sort of, i only write things of interest to prospective element fans etc, i dont waste valuable time conducting my social life which i dont share with strangers as are two thirds of these forums!!

But to those of you i do know, your the best!b :love::love::love::cheers::rockon::band:

  15. I thought it was a good night. First time in the Malt Mill and I really liked it. Good to see a healthy crowd even if it did get rather empty near the end' date=' crying shame that was. Good gig to get back into the swing of things after a year and bit.

The goatee sound guys help was greatly apprciated since you can't really tell what it sounds like, unless you go wander about infront of the stage.

Element 106 drummer did well with only the one tom and damn that double bass was thumping. Award for coolest car also goes to Bostaph for the neon blue dials...pimping. Hog seems to be a bit of a string snapping machine!

First time hearing Deviadas I really like their bluesy sound. Introduction to the last song was a real winner for me. Stayover were really tight and Milners madona esque mic...inspired!

Thanks for letting us play, t'was good![/quote']

Aw chhers man, your a legend!! I must admit, it was kinda fun using one tom, a concept i have not been used to for some years, and i kinda missed a few fills where the gap in the drumkit was, but never the less i had a damn good time!

Cheers to all the other bands - i know i'm about a week late, but hey just back on the net.

And a big up to all the other drummers in aberdeen for sharing equipment in a peers moment of need!

Yay the blue dials dont half burn your eyes after a while though, jesus!

  16. Well i've always found that nothing comes easy!

My first drumkit was a 200 manhattan affair from bruce millars 13 years ago, kept it for 3 years, had a white tama Artstar 2 elite kit (with matching remo ebony's aka. lars ulrich stylee) which was ace that kit cost 700 about 10-11 years ago. Kept it for 4 years, and now i'm onto my third kit, MApex Orion Maple Custom, which sounds phenomenal, but not to every one's taste! I'm lucky enough to have a job that can support my drum habbit nowadays, but was not always the case!

I might have a very nice kit now, but it's taken me years to save up to buy as i like.

I was never worried about cymbals quality initially - as i had sod all money, but now i'm on the zildjians K and A Customs.

I think without wasting too much of your time i think the point of this spiel is that -----

Take your time, buy a cheapo kit to start with and work your way up. Don't despair about playing pan lids as there's no point in spending big bucks if you don't have to!

Everything will come with time! :band::up:

  17. A happy new year to all -

Coming up - new events in the world of Element 106.

A new guitarist replaces the Hogmeister as lead guitar whilst the remainder of the line-up remains un-touched.

Gigs aplenty to follow, but as for the identity of the new guy - well you will just have to wait and see!

    Be patient now!

  18. No!!!! I will end up having thousands of women phoning me!!!

Serious' date=' heres the deal. I left band, band nice about it, me and band still pals, me wish band all the best and likewise. Its all happy. Element not like Hog talking about his own stuff on this forum, fair enough, people ask Hog about his stuff, so a hog forum lol? Maybe a good idea cos I talk on this site all the time cos as Bostaph pointed out, I work from home.[/quote']

Classic!! Nah we're still friends (hopefully unless i've pissed hog off enough). Nothing like listening to fine ear bashing music whilst having a botle of pilsner!

    METAYAYYYALALALALALLLA :band:

  19. Glad I provided so much for Element in the year I was with you guys' date=' great to see it was appreciated.

Jaimi has said nothing but nice things, as have I. Whats the problem?[/quote']

You certainly did provide excellent guitar work and a fine Personality!

I'm not getting at you gel face, you should know that!!
