  1. who could say no to an offer like that james?

aftertaste were fucking good like, that 14yr old drummer puts cris and deans so badly to shame its crazy!

Shame i missed him LOL, at least theres some serious talent out there in this city, its nice to hear young uns playing their asses off, worrying to think how good they will be in ten years which is still 2 years younger than me!

  2. i would like to just point out 1 tiny detail, i havent quit element at all, i have been kicked out. you can immagine my surprise one morning, checking my mobile, and finding a txt on the lines of: "sorry mate you are out we cant be having with missing gigs"

bitter? hell yea after 6 years i expect a face to face discussion with the option of saying my own version, so to answer your question, no i wont be doing any more gigs with element

It would be nice to expect that we could actually get hold of you once in a while, or you may even respond to messages within 2 days regarding practices and gigs.

I would have liked it for you to stay and joined in with what we all want, but you give no commitment anymore, turning for a practice once a month does not count as valid contribution IMHO. Nor does refusing to change shifts / take days holiday for gigs outside Aberdeen which we have all done at some point. Tony even left his daughters birthday early just to play the tunnels gig, and thats one of those special times not to be disrupted. You should not be posting your thoughts in this forum, as we saiid, phone us or PM us, neither of which you will do probably:down:

  3. hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

this aint really what i was expecting, it aint really metal as such. it reminds me of deftones for ages. the bit after is is pretty decent too. one of the guitars sounds real nice.

discordant guitar solo bit is awesome

    bad points

drums are sloppy and out of time

vocals way too high in mix.

    overall an improvement.

there needs to be a BRRRREEEEEEEEEIIINNNNNNNN in there though :D

I Know I'll get blasted for not taking criticism well, but drums are actually very in time when listened to through good quality sound setup, its funny you say that as when I listened back to it outside the studio I thought it sounded a bit ropey despite sounding amazing in the studio monitors! Drum sound was more electronic, still to be worked on in the mastered copy, having a fiberskyn on the bass drum made for an unusual sound, more acousticy but nevertheless good.

  4. Not to bad a tune like stick to the heavier side and you may get by !

The snare during the single kick blasts midway in the song is very low in the mix , also could be a wee bit tighter in parts but apart from that i could like it.

Ha ha, thats cos they aint blasts mate, just 4/4 played rather quickly, you cant though as you say hear foooook all because of the mix, not our fault actually!!

  5. This thread is still class, as usual, its not who's best but who's your favorite drummer! Or thats what the majority of replies would suggest!! But hey all drummers are good, except that nonce stuart cable who couldnt keep time with a friggin stopwatch! PISSSSSSSSS:down:

  6. Agoraphobic Nosebleed dont have a drummer on any of their albums' date=' its all a drum-machine, programmed by Scott Hull, the guitarist, also of Pig Destroyer.

And the song "forever" didn't have a real drummer. The first album was recorded with a drum machine as far as I know.

The newer album "dissimulate" was the drummer. and He's not set the official record yet, but unofficially he is the fastest on the snare in the world, with 19.1 hits a second.

Watch the DVD Trailor on their web-site. It has a bit in it where the camera focuses on his snare hand during a blast. It doiesn't even move, the stick just goes up and down like fucking crazy! Fuck knows how he does it.

Other than that hes not all that great though, its just speed.

Edit: this was thurisaz, not Bazz.[/quote']

Go onto Drumcanman.com and watch tim waterson do 1407 double kicks in 60 seconds, something to shite yerself to!

  7. what's your issue?

No issue my good man, just flapping about, couldn't honestly be arsed who goes on where!! Its just not the greatest going on last when there aint anybody left to bother watching, but you guys pull the crowds in regardless so it should all be good!

Does that sound good? Atom on last, err no not really

  9. BASICALLY ANY DRUMMER WHO PLAYS IN TIME IS GOOD, EVERY DRUMMER MENTIONED HERE IS GOOD, IN VARYING WAYS, LETS ALL AGREE TO DISAGREE, AS YOUR FAVOURITE DRUMMER IS ALWAYS GOING TO BIAS YOUR OPINION, BUT REMEMBER FAVOURITE DOES NOT ALWAYS MEAN BEST, DEPEND WHICH ASPECT OF THE DRUMMING YOUR ARE JUDGING, SPEED, TECHNIQUE, STYLE, FLARE ETC, WHO GIVES A SHITE, THESE THREADS ARE ALL BOLLOCKS, SORRY HAWG!

  10. I did' date=' but how does he relate to this discussion? Dennis Chambers is a jazz drummer and also probably amongst the top 5 recognised professional drummers in the world...he doesn't 'play fast', he plays jazz/funk/soul etc and just happens to play blindingly fast flurries when he's in one of his solos. Gabe Serbian plays like that to comprise his actual drum beats. For 40 minutes. If I'm missing the point by criticising the notion that Gabe Serbian is 'nothing special', then you're an even bigger hypocrite for posting a video of the fucking Fear Factory drummer in the first place.

Utter shite, not by nature, funk through and through:up:

  11. What would you class as cheating ?

I personally feel my blasts are on top form just now but you may have seen me drumming a while back so i suppose you cannot have any right to who can and cannot play drums properly

I find drummers who don't stick to the same old formula very interesting

Sorry, didnt mean to generalise that much, its very hard to explain what I mean by "cheating" it would actually be easier to show you in person.

Listen to the initial blast beat in Dimmu Borgir's "Maelstrom Mephisto" if you have it, that is a blast beat of that speed played properly. Now to cheat and play it not so well, imagine removing one stroke from the ride cymbal hand, and playing it inversly to the left hand, thats cheating!

  12. Trudat. I use double kicks because I've got two feet. I use them to fit in with what my hands are doing. But the duggadugga stuff' date=' because it's usually done[i'] at the expense of rather than complementing the hands, is the same as if I just played a constant snare roll with a four to the floor kick. Dull.

Yeah, the dugaduga stuff can be boring, ie. listen to any slayer song etc, but it is usually in context with the music, look at nick Barker, NOT a stereo typical metal drummer, superb technique, unbelievable power, but very underrated as he plays so damn fast many "undeveloped" drummers might not be able to hear exactly what he is playing! But in that style of music, a blastbeat usually is a WALL OF NOISE, but hey it works well when played properly, i've yet to see any other aberdeen drummer successfully play one yet properly without cheating or being out of time (Badly), but admiration for trying, they aint easy to do PERFECTLY!.

I think the thing to say here is, your hands and feet should NEVER automatically conplemant each other, you should be 4 way ambidextrous to play at the best of your abilty, alot of double bass drummers i see can only do duga duga stuff in time with their hands, but try playing 3/4 with your hands and 4/4 with your feet in the same rhythm, easy - yes, but not for most, people are too overly concerned with double bass speed these days and not technique.

Alot of the element drum beats i play that used to be double bass, are slowly being ditched and replaced with doubles's, triplets, quadrouplets etc, because its more skilled, more fun to play and actually sounds more intersting!

  13. Yeah' date=' you're right... but, you know, we're ready to move everywhere! There's nothing we wouldn't do for the music (especially if someone contacts us saying he's interested in our music)... Maybe we're just nuts, but try to understand! What would you do to become famous one day? That's why we are sending message everywhere around this great wild world![/quote']

Ace outlook on things, maybe i'm just sinacle now, but i know it will never happen to me!! Would be cool if it did though!

  14. dont pat ourselves on the back just yet. we only have the very basics of those songs.. we need to work more...

on a second note i need to find a soloing sound but i cant seem to get it... i hate new technology

Surprise surprise, always got to be a negative sod when things are going really nicely!! Wish just for once you would show a little enthusiasm about things!

  15. what a sad cunt' date=' he has nothign better to do with his day! guffaw! on another note the vid was quite funny

we do ok, we usually hit 80 and up, sticking on bands from all over the globe that people have never heard of (aye not 5 aberdeen bands on one bill i may add). most of the bands really enjoy playing shows with us and are always looking to come back, and are always spreadign the word.

started from 30s up to 80s (or more dependant on show) in 12 months, sufficient enough growth for you cloud? #

how do we manage to get it off the ground? we got some funding last year from the council, allowing us to fork out loads on flyers, afford biggger bands, hiring pas etc (eventually buying) so that we can continue to give bands good deals! it snto DIY and it may be "selling out" but thats what that was there for and i think it has been put to good use.

    what have element 106 achieved??

    *cough* fuck all *cough*[/quote']

What have we achieved? International recognition from major signed bands, advisaries in certain underground music scenes in Norway, interest from a major multinational record company, things we usually like to keep under our hat as its our business, nothing to brag about if nothing comes of it, but the avenues are there. Dont slag the rest of us off just because you dont like it when Hog makes a CUNT of you infront of all these lovely people AS USUAL, it grates on me.

You call Hog sad, who is the Baw Sack that keeps on returning to this forum every five fuckin seconds just to see what Hog has written, so he can write some bollocks back in response that is of no value to man nor dog? Answer - you, ya sad piece of SHITE. Be a nice chap and get the fuck out of our forum if you dont have something nice to say, something productive to say, or lastly some useful constructive criticism!
