  1. fucking right, one of the best musical gigs I've been to (probably ever), just a shame about the vibeless, zombified morons ('Aberdonians').

Once again, I get a bunch of fuckers who insist on talking all the way through a gig , standing right next to me...why oh fucking why doe people fork out 15 quid to go see a band, and just fucking talk all the way through ?!

I loved the visuals, and the short film at the start, fantastic stuff, I'll have to do something for them, and send it to them ! (I am currently working on a short animation that's going to be shown in cannes film festival...yes, that Cannes).

I hope they do come back soon (like they said !)

    Worth every penny.

  2. from anti :

Tom Waits working on new album for Fall release!

Tom Waits has been holed up in an old school house in Mississippi, recording a new album, titled Real Gone for Anti. Because, according to Waits, theres nothing quite like fresh materialall new tunes by Kathleen Brennan and myself to come out this fall. Real Gone is primal rhythmic blues featuring Waits on vocal mouth percussion, Larry Taylor (veteran of Waits recordings since 1980s Heartattack & Vine) on bass and guitar, Mark Ribot (first collaboration since their classic pairing for 1985s Raindogs) on guitar and tres, Brain Manita (Primus, Buckethead and the most recent Guns N Roses tour) on drums, Casey X. Waits on percussion and turntables, Les Claypool (Primus) on electric bass and Harry Cody on guitar and banjo. Engineered by Mark Howard (Bob Dylan, Lucinda Williams, Iggy Pop) and produced by Waits/Brennan. Feelin good about it all. Songs about politics, rats, war, hangings, dancing, automobiles, pirates, farms, the carnival and sinning. Mama, liquor, trains and death. In other words, the same ol dirty business!

    I am getting excited !...

    a tour ? (nahhhhh)

  3. fucking best news I've read all year !

I love the break down of what's going to be in the lp"There are songs about politics, rats, war, hangings, dancing, automobiles, pirates, farms, the carnival and sinning, Mama, liquor, trains and death"

well, my my, some new subjects then..he he.

cracking, can't Wait (ooooh) for that one.

  4. I had a feeling the Liars front man reminded me of Mr Cave, glad you confirmed that for me !

as for the ears thing, clever old grandad phil took along some ear plugs, nae tinitus for me !

I left halfway through the second set of the wire gig (as they seemed to me to be playing the same set as the first one), did they play "the LowDown" ?..actually, don't tell me if they did...boo hoo...I missed the T Rauschmeire set, mothboy reccomended that I go check him out... what was the set like ?

  5. well, Some interesting stuff on last night...

wire (first set), blasting, they looked like shite (shambling old

dads), but sounded as tight and menacing as anything ! fucking ROCK.

Komputer : what a dissapointment, one of those bands I wasn't sure

that when it sounded like the computer was fucking up, was it

supposed to ? (I didn't think it was , because these fucking muppets

left on the "tinkle" noise when they went to open new files (in what

looked like pro-tools)..how embarrasing, hearing a windows alert

coming through the PA ever 5-10 mins...)

Pan Sonic : wowee, cracking, I loved the soild beat foundations, and

some crazy washes and multi tracked / delayed noise over the top, I

was fairly tapping my foot to these dudes. (I may have to buy a pan

    sonic CD soon!)

Pink grease : great fun, what is it with piss take pands being super

popular at the moment ?! (darkness, goldie lookin' chains etc)

Liars : nutty as fuck. the drummer looked like a brick shit house

scouser...in a lepoard print dress (with dangly earrings!)...the set

was repetetive and intese, but I loved it, the drummer was so solid,

the best thing about the band...he reminded me of the jesus lizard

    drummer.

    Fucking modey lemon cancelled, bastards.

  6. he he , I've never won anything !

I got a ticket to see the Mute night tonight, thanks to the BBC air /triptych competiton !

woo hoo, who else is going tonight ?

(modey lemon ! Wire ! Komputer ! more more more!)

I think he was referring more to a boxing metaphor, concise, to the point "getting the job done"...not just indiscriminate random violence (not that I think boxing is much fun!)...

anyway, Reznor (I feel) used to parp on about the very things he was saying about "I had a bad childhood" etc...they are all full of shit, if you are selling albums by the truckload, have thousands (nee millions) of money in the bank, you are going to be in the most comfortable position anyone could ever be in, as we all know that you can't do much in this world "without" money...cold hard fact.

so all these multi million selling artists should shut the fuck up about "hardship" and "struggle".

    blah blah

  8. mr Higgs:

We (maple) are on in "the WaterFront" (or waterside), its off junction 19, I know that for sure ! (ho ho).

No idea what time we are on (I don't think it's been decided !)

If anyone is thinking of going, try and grab hold of one of us, as the tix on the door ar 6 quid (eek!)

but we have ones for 4.50p (eeek!).

Don't you just love playing down in glasgow...

    ---------

The Shins were superb, an amazing set bashed out in 1 hour, they had to leave quickly, as there was a fucking club on after...fucking QMU, balls.

The Stills were OK, there songs all sound the same !

very good at what they do, the visuals were cool, but they just ended up sounding like 1 long song!

(appart for the last song, where the drummer sang, sounded like sonic youth a bit...)

    anyway, cracking gig. (sorry)

  9. I am soooo looking forward to it.

if no one has heard of the shins, and you are into trendy metal at the moment, don't bother, stick to yer trends, anyone who likes good music for the sake of good music, check em out....
